Watch how much Shanahan runs toward Diggs. Tackling is literally his job, and no he doesn't cover good enough to not tackle. His performance was cowardly, no other way to put it.

Welp since we expose him I guess other teams will now.
It's obvious watching the game live so when coaches are isolating him on game film, it sticks out i'm sure. I was very critical of him initially but I believe he's protecting an injury after rewatching. Maybe they can shoot it up with something Sunday allowing him to not be as cautious when faced with contact.

We all know Diggs and know tackling was not his strength.

But it was shocking at times to see him seemingly do as much as he can to avoid it in a game that’s win or go home.

I know it wasn’t a secret about Diggs but man, a guy like Deebo is gonna work him if he’s planning on playing defense just the same.

Love Diggs, we can’t do this without him.
He avoids contact more than kickers and punters.

You know the niners see it and are going to get him in one on one situations.

If he is playing off, I'm throwing it quickly to the wr and forcing diggs to make the tackle.

Watching him play was strange, he looks to be playing with a little hesitation on coverage and in the open field against the ball carrier. I think earlier this season he showed that he can make plays, I can’t remember but I do believe he made a key open field tackle by the goal line earlier this season late in a game that proved to be a huge play. He made a few plays like that, I think he’s had a few bad games and now he’s in his own head! He’s a great player and great players tend to bounce back in an amazing way, we need amazing this weekend and I believe he will come through for the good guys!

I think this is the real culprit. In a very short term scenario, not terrible but not when he still has a whole nother season to go.
IMHO there is zero percent chance he takes the field next year without a new contract. He is a hold out waiting to happen. I used to defend him when he played like this in the regular season with 10 picks to his name. This is the playoffs and the guy has 3 picks on the season. Good player for sure. Not nearly good enough to behave like that.

He is either protecting an injury or trying to prevent one because he is planning to holdout for a new deal. Can’t think of any other plausible explanation. Him just not enjoying football anymore or the coaches telling him to back off to keep him healthy just aren’t plausible to me.

It was a weird game for him... he has definitely done better in previous games... maybe him and Maher drank from the same water bottle, lol...

Can't give a Dude like that big money. The top paid corners in the NFL pose a physical presence on the field in run support as well as providing excellent cover skills. One dimensional DBs should be paid accordingly.

Don’t remember old 21 ( Deion S . ) as a tackling horse . I do remember interceptions and plays so much so it was floated to use him as a WR from time to time . Sound familiar . When Diggs pretty much takes away half the field but ex Colts & Vikings are trying to cover the other side yeah I’m not beetching about 7 .

It's kind of like squeezing a balloon. You can slide an extra defender towards Diggs' side of the formation if you think they are going to run something quick his way, but then you open up room for a McCaffrey run in the spot your helper left.

Lots of smart guys have schemed to stop Shanahan's offense, and most have failed. He is very, very good at what he does.
Arent his Dad's teams known for giving Belichick defenses trouble?

I agree that Diggs played soft but I don’t know what we’d do without him.

He locked up Justin Jefferson this year and has had some big games for us.

If I am Kyle Shanahan, I am having a WR come up and pop Diggs on a block, then throwing an RB screen right behind him. Make Diggs match your physicality and stop that play.
If I’m Shanahan I’m running right at Diggs every time and not even blocking him unless he shows me he will tackle my player

The number 1 thing to do against the Bucs is stop Mike Evans deep. When they hit the deep balls they win. When they dont the bucs struggle. It was strategy by Quinn.
