Didnt read the whole thread, so I dont know if this has been mentioned...

But did you all notice the Tampa ball carriers targeting him and trying to embarrass him?

The league obviously knows he doesnt want to tackle and teams are going right at him.

Im cool with what he is doing though. Personally...when he does it...it seems like he is making a pretty good decision, as in he doesnt need to risk his body because other players have the ball carrier tackled or about to make a for sure tackle. I dont think he does it if he is in the open field and one on one with a ball carrier

Diggs faded this year. PFF had him 48th in the league this year. Our best CB was Bland ranking 24th.

PFF's top 5 in case you were wondering:

1. Sauce Gardner
2. Patrick Suratian II
3. Jalen Ramsey
4. Tyson Campbell
5. Jaire Alexander
A big reason for Diggs’ fade was only coming up with three INTs. Bland led the team with five picks.

When the game was no longer in doubt I was fine with his soft tackling…if we lose him then we are in deep trouble going forward. We need him healthy Sunday, not banged up…
So by that logic the entire team should avoid contact because we cant afford injury? Thats like telling Micah to rush the passer but don't stop the run. It's garbage, Diggs needs to man up he's a football player not an executive.

Yeah he definitely makes the safety’s and other players on the field have to play harder. Tampa thought he was soft. It was play where Evans caught it near he sideline and ran to get out of bound but made sure he got shoulder block on Diggs before he ended the play. I was kinda happy he did that
Yeah, he punked him. I hope it embarrassed him. He needs to go home and watch tape with his son and have his 6 year old talk some smack to him!

Diggs playing conservative like this makes him a consistent and reliable corner. If it's a money gotta have it down i've seen him stick his nose in and tackle. He's good enough where his cover ability makes up for his honestly not great tackling. If it cost us a game i will be right here with you next week.
That’s idiotic
You don’t wait for it to cost you a game
You address it now because SF will sure as heck target him

If he's not trying to protect an injury, Diggs might need to consider some testosterone treatments, because that was embarrassing.

If I am Kyle Shanahan, I am having a WR come up and pop Diggs on a block, then throwing an RB screen right behind him. Make Diggs match your physicality and stop that play.

After watching the game again, I think he's protecting an upper body injury. Even on the fumble recovery, he made a really half-hearted attempt to jump on the ball. I'd guess maybe a wrist or shoulder injury. Not making any excuse but that's what it appears to be...

I am x and o's ignorant. Your post seems to make a lot of sense to me.

I assume the there are other factors for both teams to make your suggestion wither work or not work...

My question is...is this easy for a defense to stop if they start doing this with success?

My suggestion would be to throw Mukuamu in there if Diggs is the primary issue?

Lets say they do what you say and Dallas has to cover for Diggs leaving other holes in Defense...what are the options? Put a fast LB like Clark over there to help Diggs?

I really have no clue

Im a lazy turd...

But it would be interesting to know Diggs size and weight compared to strong tackling CB's around the league.

Bland for sure looks thicker than Diggs. Makuamu is a thumper that looks kind of skinny...but he seems to have a tall and scrappy build compared to Diggs small frame. The safety Wilson is a thumper that looks small...but I assume hes bigger than Diggs if you saw them in just underwear.

Im not making excuses for Diggs...hes just small.

I wonder if Quinn has told him to be extra careful after losing Brown and Lewis for the year?
I've been wondering that too, he wasn't like this last year. He's literally dodging contact. So IMHO it's either a "business decision" (which is really bad) or he was told to do what he can to try and avoid it.

Its about effort.
It comes down to risk?

Which side are you on? You want your shut down guy playing? Or do you want him to make a business decision on a couple of tackles a game?

Everyone gets the effort thing. Its what do you do when you are an owner or coach with a lot riding on the line? Things change when there is something of significance to lose. Its why internet GM's are so unreasonable...they have nothing to lose. Real GM's lose a million+ yearly salary if they make risky decisions that dont pan out.

Personally...I dont think Diggs antics are costing us games. Lets see what happens if teams find a way to exploit his reluctance to tackle. Until then...Im cool with a couple business decisions per game that keep my stud corner locking down receivers for 70 snaps a game over. Give me 40 lock down snaps and I'll give you 20-30 yards that Diggs gives up on bad tackling.

He may bait pretty little Purdy, early in the game, and take him to the house!!!!!
I actually think this is the type of QB and game where I would be fine with Diggs taking a big risk early trying to jump a route. Purdy is going to give the Cowboys a few chances to turn it over. They need to make those chances count if they are going to win.
