That is a load of crap. Donald in LA is trying to put the QB on his butt and does so with quick pressure there are other top pass rushers who manage to get pressure and put up sacks for lost yardage. Quinn is not just trying to get pressure he trying to put that QB on his butt. Dlaw put up sacks in 2017 and 2018 and bottom line did not do it in 2019. His overall tackles were down and his pay was not that good. If your trying to tell me these DL players are not trying to put that QB down? Sorry not buying it
DLaw's play was absolutely elite. The only way to think otherwise is to watch box scores.

Do you honestly think Quinn is a better player, or that he deserves more money than DLaw (or Mack and Miller, while we're at it)?

I don't disagree but again I put the blame on him. That shoulder needed to be worked on and everyone knew it at the end of 2018 season. There was no reason not to get it done. It was not as if he was not going to play be it in Dallas or ended up getting let go bottom line he intended to play. The procedure is not a risky one, hell JJ watts had his done during the season and is now back in the lineup in Houston. Woods had it done after the season and was ready for camp.
Very poor decision on his part
I would have had it done soon as season ended

I think Quinn is a very good player whose age will keep him from a longer term contract. My issue however is not with Quinn he came in and produced. We clearly have a difference in what is elite. I can promise you no one would pay 21 mill for a season of 5 sacks and 45 tackles. Hell the 2 season prior to last season saw double digit sacks and 58 and 64 tackle season. Elite? BS there was nothing elite in his play. You may be thrilled with his play good for you, I hope to see play closer to his 2017 and 2018 season than what I saw this past year.

Healthy, Quinn is a lot better than DLaw. Quinn is a top 5 edge rusher in the NFL. He's been fighting injury issues, that's the only reason he was available cheap. You might want to research before you make this type of statement.

LMAO. Quinn is awful against the run, and Lawrence is one of the best. If you squint, you might be able to say Quinn is a better pure pass rusher. But absolutely, on no planet, is he a better overall player than DLaw. It's not even close. Do you seriously think that Quinn should get more per year than Lawrence?

Lawrence was also a top-5 pass rusher. Funny. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...s-rushing-rankings-2019-pbwr-prwr-leaderboard

Last 7 games of the season 0.5 sacks, I'm sorry Dallas defense need more than that out of DE.

He wasn't elite if you only look at box scores. Like I've been saying. Third in pass rush win rate, third in run stopping. I don't know how that isn't elite?

Teams would pay for that. Clowney is about it get ~$20m and only had 3 sacks.

I couldn't care less about the money part, and truthfully I really don't get your infatuation w/ it.

Quinn was an edge rusher of the first order. Extremely disruptive. Highly highly sought after trait. Only injuries has keep his salary from skyrocketing. Read up on it.

I watch the games, this is not strictly about box score but that is pretty damn glaring to have a so called elite with 5 sacks on the season and only .5 over the last 7 games he played. His tackles were down not up. You call him elite all you want. I find it funny in Dec he said he needed to pick it up that his play was not up to that level and yet you want to tell me what a great season he had? Dallas can't afford another season of 5 sacks from their so called premier DE that is not going to cut it and while you can spin pressure all you want and I will agree it is important to get pressure but those sacks mean a lot and no it is not an offensive stat, that is getting pressure quickly often times the QB does not even sense it is about to happen.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Quinn is cheap. That's a fact. He'd have a huge salary if not for injuries. Another fact.

What's your point?

You watched the games but your interpretation is completely misaligned from the stats.

Every player says they need to pick it up that doesn't mean anything.

Sacks is an offensive stat. It isn't the 1990s. Teams who don't want to take sacks don't take sacks.

Let me ask you this, what is your barometer for how long it should take a DE to get a sack?

DLaw isn't a top-5 pass rusher. Quinn is top 10 and DLaw is way down the list. Quinn creates mistakes from the other team. DLaw may stop the run better but he's still not that great versus the run. I saw plenty of times of DLaw whiffing on tackles. The one thing that works in DLaw's favor is him not giving up on a run play and making the tackle from behind. That still results in about a 4 yard gain.

Yeah well Donaldson or a Cameron Jordan who managed 15.5 sacks and 58 tackles. I hope like hell next season Lawrence is getting some offensive stats because being ranked 19th in sacks sucked. You may like it evidently you think run stopping is all there is too the position but when I see 0.5 sacks over the last 7 games of the year I refuse to sit here and glorify it and call it elite.

I will give you that pressure is a nice stat, but pressure does not do diddlysquat to a QB who would rather have a bit of room outside the pocket anyway. A scrambling QB gives a defense fits, so if pressures are there , the team sacks stats better be there too or it was probably not helpful in todays mobile QB era!

I don't know how long did it take Jordan? Why did Dlaw get them in 2017 and 2018 yet gets 5 this past season. You think those sack totals had a lot to do with getting the contract? I do, I think teams put a lot on pressure and yes sacks which is why sack leaders are always highly sought after players. You continue to say sacks are an offensive stat? yet teams pay big money for top sack guys because it is not an offensive stat it is a defensive stats than means a lot to any defense.
