It doesn't have to be one or the other.

T.O. can still play. If you have any doubt about what he's capable of, even in his mid-30s, rewatch the 49ers game from last season.

But that doesn't mean we need him. Today we saw that we have a bunch of capable weapons who can make plays for us.

If T.O. does well tomorrow night, does that somehow take away from guys like Crayton, Austin, and Roy? Of course not. Likewise, if T.O. stinks up the joint, that doesn't mean our guys played any better.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't give a crap what T.O. does this season. He's old news and has nothing to do with the 2009 Cowboys.

Ah LOGIC... IT BURNS!

One good game against an inferior opponent and everyone's redeemed? Only at the Zone.

I've never been a fan of T.O since his time in San Francisco, but are you kidding me. Tampa bay was not the team Dallas faced last year. They are in complete overhaul and their defense blew plenty of calls in coverage, that's what caused the long plays, any team could of had those plays, that was more of the mistakes of the new inexperienced defense and their rookies, not the offense of the cowboys.

Dallas plays like this next week, dallas will be losing by three touchdowns, because our defense which everyone thought and said were going to lite it up this year, was horrible against a second tier team today

You are exactly right. 95% of this board cant see that though.

I love how people talk about how crappy Tampa Bay is. Yes, Tampa Bay is a bad team, but the Cowboys did what good teams are suppose to do against bad teams and that is beat them.

I love it how 1 game supposedly doesn't prove anything, but 1 game against a horrible 49ers team in complete disarray after a midseason coaching change last year supposedly proved that TO was still an elite WR despite 15 games that said otherwise.

By the way, the Bucs have huge weaknesses on their team .... pass defense isn't one of them. In fact they had one of the best pass defenses in the NFL last year. The Bucs had the 4th best pass defense in the NFL last year in passing yards allowed. 6th best in the NFL in QB rating allowed. Tied for 3rd best in the NFL in defensive inteceptions.

1 game synopsis says offense is going to be great without Owens.

1 game synopsis says lulz at Ware being in the DPOY race.

I will guarantee this. TO would have started quiting on routes today when Romo was off in his accuracy. Romo struggled today and yet the recievers never quit running their routes or stopped blocking. Their efforts paid off when Tampa blew a few coverage calls. TO is immature and yes he was a locker room killer. He is a hell of a talent, but is an uber ****** bag. I am glad he is no longer a cowboy and am very happy to see Dallas get the win. Lets see how TO plays tomorrow when his team starts losing or he doesn't get every ball thrown his way.

You know why I'm glad T.O.'s gone? I never once had to worry today, "Oh, crap, ___ hasn't gotten thrown the ball in a while. Wonder if he's fuming?!"

Owens might have been the most dangerous wide receiver this franchise has ever had -- even more so than Irvin -- but he was just as dangerous to the team's progression as he was to opposing defensive backs. It's no way to win games when you have to pacify egos.

Notice Roy, Crayton, Austin and Witten weren't pining for more touches when Romo was spreading the wealth.

Think Owens would have been OK with three catches and five balls thrown his way? Heck no.

It's time to move on. Roy isn't the player Owens is, but he doesn't have to be. Roy is a damn good player himself and he has a good supporting cast around him. And in my opinion, the ability to spread the ball around without having to worry about appeasing Owens showed today it will help, it not entirely replace, the talent he brought.

You could argue Owens had as many insignificant showings last season as he did top-of-the-line ones.

Not to mention that it wasn't as if the offense didn't have terrible games with 81 on the team.

The proof -- one way or the other -- will come in December. I don't expect the offense to stink beforehand, but I don't expect it to necessarily be as high powered as it was with T.O. But if Romo is a better, more comfortable lokoing QB in December without Owens, then his dismissal was very worthwhile.

Even if you want to throw out the "well the team we played sucks" line you have to agree that our offense looked lost at times and Romo wasn't exactly Romo today and we still did some unbelievable things.

Once we get back to Big D I think our offense will be way more crisp next week than it was today.

One last follow to my previous post: Owens had just five more "productive" games last season than the the 86 yards and TD that Williams had today, and two of those performances were of 87 and 88 yards.

Just something to chew on.

All offseason, we've heard numbskulls proclaim that Tony Romo and this offense can't go anywhere without the big play ability that TO provided.

Now, in only 1 week, we've already been treated to as many big plays as TO made in an entire season. last year

So now is the time to denounce, once and for all, TO is a washed-up has-been who is merely a shell of his former self and merely racked up accumulative stats (while posing horrid efficiency stats) thanks to Romo, Witten and Jason Garrett endlessly (and stupidly) force feeding him the ball despite his horrid, horrid, horrid conversion rates.

Admit your error now, and you'll be absolved of mockery.

Procrastinate further, I can't promise the same immunity for Week 2.

I wouldn't get too giddy just yet. The Bucs secondary was no better than a Pop Warner squad.

Wow. Washed up huh? I'll be on here Monday night to remind everyone who can make a play. He can
2 receptions. 1 for 27 yards and 1 for 19 yards.

About what I expected.

The Bucs have problems, pass defense isn't one of them. Last season they were top 5 in the NFL in passing yards allowed, Top 3 in interceptions, Top 6 in opposing QB rating.
