Division winner scenarios thread

Miami doesn't matter, common opponent. Detroit helps but not likely enough to overcome how many more wins KC will have than LAC and Tampa over Carolina.
Actually it matters, because they beat Miami. Check it out we lost to SF they lost to SF that's a wash, we lost to each other wash, they lost to Seattle (we beat them, puts us up 1), they lost to Jets (we beat them, puts us up 2), we lost to Buffalo (they beat them, puts us up 1) That's where it is right now.

But if we lose to Miami it's tied because they beat Miami, however if they beat Arizona they win the common opponents tiebreaker because we lost to Arizona. So losing to Miami can cost us the division. The game that really matters the least is Detroit because they don't play Detroit.

I think the best chance for us to win a tiebreaker is they lose one game to Giants and we beat Washington then we have better division record.

It would but it wouldn't be enough especially being that the Eagles played the Dolphins too.
But isn't Miami already accounted for in Phillys totals whereas for Dallas it will not be taken into account until Dallas beats Miami?

Your lips to gods ears.

I was actually just looking at this. 7 seed is going to be either: Vikings, rams, Seahawks or saints.

It’s not a guarantee they beat any of those teams. Although I hope its not the Vikings since they don’t have a starting QB.
I wouldn't want to face the rams.... they've found some run and pass offense lately....

For us to win SOV, based upon Playoff Machine, it appears the following needs to happen:

Need carolina to win 2 of last 3.
Need detroit to to win out besides our game 2 of 3.
Need the bolts to win 2 of 3
Need KC to lose 2 of 3
Need Seattle to win 3 of 3

Seems unlikely.

Strength of Victory only comes into play if both teams win out, so the scenario is already accounting for Dallas beating Miami, which cancels them out. Then it comes down to KC, Buffalo, TB, Arizona and Minnesota for them vs LAC, Seattle, Carolina, NYJ and Detroit for us. Right now, those teams are +5 to Philly.

Got it.....thanks!!!

I also just checked. If the eagles and lions win out. The Lions would be the 2 seed.

Which would make the eagles opponent in the first round the 6th seed, hypothetically a little bit tougher of an opponent.

Conference record. Dallas just has to beat det and Washington. If Philly loses any game the cowboys win the division. Eagles will have 4 nfc loses cowboys 3 nfc loses,

Well this is where I don't know. According to the number of victories for the teams that both Dallas/Phil played they would cancel each other out. Meaning Dallas beating Miami wouldn't give us another victory. I guess??

The order goes head to head, division record, then common games, then conference. We would lose common games if we lose to Miami and they beat Arizona.

Our best hope is they lose one game to Giants and we beat Washington and one of Miami or Detroit to win by division record, or they lose 2 games and then we only have to beat Washington. Simple.

Some of you (not you) are spending way too much time on both teams winning out when I would say that's unlikely. We have a tough schedule and Philly is struggling (but has an easier schedule)

He said if Philly loses one more. We can lose one more game as long as it is Miami, our most likely loss by far, as long as Philly loses ANY game including AZ. I didn’t realize that until he mentioned it.

It doesn’t matter what game Philly loses as long as the Cowboys go 2-1 and beat Washington.

Nope the Giants are in the division. Eagles could beat Arizona 100-0. like I said we win division if we beat det and wash and they lose to anyone.
