The ball never left Hill's hand in a forward direction. In other words, the ball came out going backwards.

That doesn't matter. His arm was going forward, so it's a forward pass. That it had not left his hand yet is immaterial because it was clearly a throwing motion with his arm going forward.

I remember in the offseason I said we will be more impressed with the defense then we are the offense and you had a much different tune then.

My stand has always been the same since Romo. The play of the defense will determine how far this team goes.

Yeah, I just have never seen that exact play so I wasn't sure what the rule would be.
Great play by DLaw in any event

It does make it more challenging because if he had recocked his arm and Lawrence knocked it out, it's a fumble. Because the ball came out with his arm going forward, though, the officials have to assume that it came out because he was passing. Too much gray area there to determine that it was knocked out instead of coming out because he was passing it.

I really wanted Lawrence to get that one in his first game back.

He's an excellent player and I can't understand why so many are ready to part ways with him. They need to find a way to resign Gregory and have 90, 94, and 11 creating chaos for the next few years. With Osa and Gally looking like good prospects in the middle, that front 7 is looking formidable.

I agree. Gotta figure out how to keep DLaw around at least one more year with the young studs on D.

also don't forget Jabril Cox who is probably the long term mike Linebacker and Kearse is still a decently young heck of a box safety.

I have been pretty hard on Tank, and I think it has been deserved. Tank played tonight and contributed which was nice. But he was playing against a reserve OT, as both of the Saints starting OTs were out of the game.

I’m glad to see a spark from Tank, but I want to see him playing like Parsons. He is being paid to play like Parsons every down against starting level, top flight OTs. Tank has no excuses. He has Parsons, and Gregory and even Basham and Armstrong are contributing a little bit.

Hopefully he will FINALLY earn that bloated contract.

He’s not Parsons though. Much different player.

His arm moved backward and during the transition to forwards Tank got his hand on the ball. Hill’s elbow started moving forward but never the ball. I get the rule, but it’s counter intuitive to me, that’s not a throw, at no stage was that ball travelling in a direction.
