he's been chopped liver to me for quite some time. Get somebody opposite of David Irving who's not only reliable, but can actually get to the quarterback.

Afreed. He's had half a good season out of 3 and has been injured a lot. You don't resign a guy like that.

Exactly.

The hate Crawford and Lawrence gets cracks me up. No, they didn't turn into dominant All Pro players. And no, Lawrence didn't have a great year in 2016. And yes, counting on him going forward with another back surgery would be stupid on the part of the front office. But both Crawford and Lawrence, when healthy, were productive and losing both would cause major issues on the defensive line.

I am not sure why people have to be so extreme in their evaluations? I mean if the guy ain't an All Pro, then he absolutely sucks. It cracks me up.

That's the way it is with everything for many posters. There's never, ever "gray area". It's either black or white.

He had 8 sacks on a team that only had 31 total last season.

A big-time pass rusher? No.

But better than average when he's right.

Let's not forget that Lawrence had those "8 sacks" when he had a guy named Hardy drawing all of the attention on the other side. His antics and issues aside, Hardy was the pass rush threat and Lawrence was an afterthought.

Two back surgeries later, and the same threat on the other side long gone, and who knows what you can expect to get from him. Poor guy may be done at 24 years old.

I get the Hardy thing but Hardy wasn't any great revelation outside the Patriot game... They totaled 31 sacks as a defense... There wasn't a lot of anything there.

You still wait until after the second surgery and an appropriate amount of rehab time.

If he still can't do it then you cut him.

The trouble with that is that you force T Crawford and Irving back to DE where they may be helpful but they're not as good there IMO as they are on the inside... Except when they're using a 3-man line.

True, but given the choice between reaching for a second-tier DE out of need, or a stud DT, I take the tackle and try and get my best guys (including Crawford) on the field at one time wherever that may be.

And that does what for DE position?

He's just a versatile prospect and can definitely blitz...had 4 sacks, plus 15 TFL last year.
With Peppers occupying two positions for example, we can add that extra DL to the 46 and rotate more guys to remain fresh.
In short, do I care who eventually gets the sack...no, no I do not.

Probably won't be there at #28 anyway.

He was still the guy team's game-planned for and slid protection towards. The defensive coordinator himself admitted that. Lawrence was a guy who barely registered, with one sack for his career before that as I recall. A non-factor.

No doubt, I'm not cutting him, I'm just not paying him any big money for the future. Or depending on him.

Because. Being the most extreme, provocative, and loudest voice is the only way to break through all the noise and get noticed.

That's what the media is doing. So it just carries over to the fans. Especially the fans that hang on every word of the television shows and consume every tweet the media has to offer. Why be stunned and outraged tomorrow when you can be stunned and outraged right this instant?

And then share that with everyone you know and all the internet BB you belong to instantly as well.

LOL!!!

Again, if we were ever to get something from him it'll be next year. We shall see how bad he wants to be a millionaire

He can be out for all of next season and it wouldn't matter. Rotational guy at best.

Hope the best for Tank because a healthy and good tank is good for the Cowboys. I would love for the FO to plan as if Tank and Tapper will be non contributors and figure the personal it will take to get 40 sacks from the D-Line and make it happen.

May be time to move on.

It may be time to move on but the Cowboys probably won't because they need pass rushers. They held onto Anthony Spencer during all his injuries and missed games because they have such a need for pass rushers.

I remember people saying he was better than Greg Hardy last year... surprise, surprise.. did nothing when Hardy wasn't lined up on the other side.
