Talent makes money.
No talent gets fired from jobs. Especially when it comes to writing.

Political, in-house situations aside- that's the stone-cold truth.

Sure that... and everyone knows the Dallas Cowboys are going far too easy of a target in 2014....like shooting a blind squirrel in the nuts with a F14 Tomahawk!

The Cowboys are the Ultimate lazy reporter's fall-back option.

Like writing a Godzilla movie...
Any jack*** can do it.

Dennis also happens to really remind me of an ingratiatingly slimy sales guy I work with, which is part of the reason I can't stand him. Hope for his family's sake he lands on his feet. Selling cars, or whatever else is in his immediate future. Anywhere so long as a mic is not involved.

After 16 years of top-notch work at KTVT, Steve Dennis -- the most aggressive television reporter on the Cowboys beat who always was primed to ask pointed questions -- has been told he is out.

Dennis said he was called in by management at KTVT and sister station KTXA (Channel 21) last Thursday, a day he was assigned to be at the golf tournament at Colonial, and told he was no longer needed.

“I’m looking for work,” Dennis said Friday. “The Cowboys season is bearing down on us and I have to be there.”

Dennis, 53, said station management told him, “We love you but we are doing away with your position.”

Gina Miller was replaced by Slater on the sports show with Bill Jones And Babe and Dennis not long ago.

Interesting thread that illuminates the "mediot" theory.

To those cheering him getting canned, who is a good media person and not a "mediot"?

Who actually even watches the sports broadcast on the news? I live in DFW and never turn it on. They are all pretty hopeless. Goes for print media as well.

The only thing I listen to is sports talk, The Fan. Ben and Skin are pretty worthless as well, but at least they have access to the goings on inside the Ranch and have guests on that can actually talk football. Same for the morning show.

This. Sports reporting from the local news stations is worthless. So many other outlets out there these days with much better insight, analysis and observations.

Loved Steve Dennis, sorry to see him go.

"The Fan" (?) one-hour sports show on Ch. 21 weekdays here is where Steve Dennis would reside.

Like you watch local news, a face runs down the highlights, takes maybe 2.5 minutes.

But a one-hour local sports show ... Bill Jones, great. Babe Laufenberg, great.

But both these guys could anchor and read the news and were kind of smooth and had friendly, high-pitched voices. (The new guy on CBS 11 can't ad lib worth a darn and can't be exposed on Ch. 21 to carry a segment hardly. Can't remember his name ...)

Steve Dennis had kind of a gruff voice, so not good for anchoring the 2.5 minute sportscast on the local news. Women might fret. Sponsors might be lost.

Still IMO he wasn't egotistical, had strong points, didn't mind jacking with Jerry or anybody, good Q&A guy. A few weeks ago he had Nolan Ryan on and asked stuff like ...who won the arm-wrestle, he or JD .. and hey Nolan if you get lost in Arlington just head to the Nolan Ryan Expressway to find his your way to the stadium etc. how do you feel about leaving a place where streets are named after you etc., just joking but serious too .. .. Not confrontational but pretty funny. (Nolan admitted, he and his wife still have a condo at a hotel in Fort Worth) .. Nolan was sweating a little though. .. A wonderful two-minute interview that you would never see much with the great Nolan.

I like Steve Dennis, hope he finds a place.

When I see fans get mad, I mean really mad, and beyond the amusingly annoyed, at the media, it makes me chuckle.

It is almost how Justin Bieber fans react when the truth is reported and a bunch of crazed teeny boppers flood the accused party with death threats.

Is this real life?
