These are not starting QB's. If Cassel isn't better than so what. Have to try something. If he can't do it then finally try Moore. Season will probably be lost by then anyhow. I don't see how you lose the team with backups. Neither of these QBs are any good. I don't understand the Romo comparison. Parcells was thinking of making Romo the starter. Neither of these two have a long term future here.

I agree. It was an idiotic comparison by Babe. Parcells was benching Drew Bledsoe. This is Brandon bleepin Weeden, for crying out loud.

Use Escobar as the one who rubs on routes and set others up since we aren't giving him meaningful snaps. Use his size for this.

The Romo stituation isn't the same thing we're going through now. That change was a handing of the franchise torch, this is just a changed assignment for the next 5 weeks.

Escobar will bounce off of the DB and trip over only to knock our receivers down.

I want to see the Cowboys cut Weeden outright to send a message. Sign a real FB that can block.

Cut one of the underperforming WRs and bring back AJ Jenkins. He is big and is a threat on the outside imo. He can run block well.

Start Christine Michael and give him 22 carries a game.

Play defense and smash mouth power run football with play action, screens, and pick plays mixed in.

Get creative on offense.

No reason this team can't go win 2 or 3 games before Romo gets back.

This organization can't be scared of the thought of possibly having to go back to Weeden. I mean goodness.

I agree...your main guy is due back on the back end of November...four weeks of potential quarterback polemics via a hyper-ventilating press seems rather irrelevant from a rational/big picture standpoint. It would only be of concern if Romo somehow is unable to return this year as scheduled. Do what you have to do to get 2 of the next 4.

So his answer is to do with a guy whose only been on the roster 5 mins what they didn't do with Weeden whose been on the roster for two years.

i'm pretty sure he thought he could sneak that one by you, wg.

One terrible quarterback doesn't wanna place blame on another terrible quarterback. Shocking.

Agree. I'm tired of hearing from experts like Ron Jaworski, and in his day Sean Salisbury.... Babe should stick to commentary, not coaching related decisions.

And realize that the current crop of backups is not going to weather bad seasons when Romo retires. Time to really get serious about his real replacement. The league is too ticky tacky to relive the days of backups taking a team to the SB. Those days left when all the rules changes hampered the D's and allowed the O's to get by with the obvious pick plays run by the elites - NE, Denver, Green Bay

Changing QB's is not something you take lightly. It has huge ramifications throughout the team not only in game planning but also the physch of the team. You have to think about the what ifs like if you put Cassel in and he's no better than Weeden or maybe even worse. Or what if Cassel does great then gets injured and you have to go back to Weeden. Talking about losing the team. That's exactly what would happen. Having said all that with the bye week coming and giving the team 2 weeks to prepare Cassel I'd make the change. It's a gamble and I understand the risk and am glad I don't have to make that decision.

A loss is a loss and we are not going to win with Weeden so what does it matter - give it a try - nothing to lose!

It matters for all the reasons I stated. Did you not read it? Apparently not because despite all the reasons I'm for making the change to Cassel.

We are seriously looking at potentially 2-6 by the time Romo returns which would be devastating. While some of what you mentioned obviously won't happen (one could only wish this coaching staff had the fortitude to do those things), I hope that some action will be taken during the bye to place a revitalized product on the field against the Giants. They are not going to care that we're missing key players. It's the NFL. Pull it together and win a freaking game...

Weeden is not running the offense. It does not matter what plays you call because he does not execute them. Your QB has to at least attempt to run the offense and plays as designed with progressions. It's not a playcalling issue, it's Weeden showing that he is not willing to throw the ball downfield, move in the pocket or get past his first read that makes this too easy for defenses.

The principle of what Parcells was saying still applies. Once you bench a mentally weak QB it is pretty certain you lose the player.

Weeden has a delicate psyche, no question about it. Once this move is made, they are hitching their wagon to Cassel for the remainder. Garrett has to decide if he is ready to do that.

To us, it is a no brainer. To him, he is probably not sure if Cassel will make a difference and if he does not, it is not like Weeden is going to be a viable option once this is done and that basically means the season.

Not having a QB and having one of them play poorly is not an easy situation. Look at Houston, they are going back to Hoyer. But is Weeden as mentally tough as Hoyer to be able to handle that? I do not think he is even close.

I realize even having him around is a mistake, but they chose this option after having an offseason to get someone else, it is not like they could not have signed Shaun Hill or something if they really wanted to.

I don't even think it's a gamble at this point. There is no way he plays worse. He made a living in a similar role for the Vikings in 2013 and was directly responsible for all of that teams 5 wins that season, even though they kept trying to go back to Ponder because he was "The future".

What can't they do with Cassel? Is that the question? I'll tell you what they can't do. They can't lose, because there is no way Cassel is as bad as Weeden. Cassel might suck, but he can't be worse than Weeden. Could Cassel possibly be any worse than Weeden?
Yea, he absolutely can because he turns the ball over.

Say what you want about Weeden, but he has been safe with the football.
