What are you talking about, Romo has a weak arm?

I am not sure what QB you have been watching, but Romo has very good arm strenght, in TC in San Antonio I say Romo throw the ball over 50 yards in the air on some plays.

This is not a sign of a weak arm.......now Brad Johnson is a different story.

where did I say weak arm in that post?

and BTW, agree on Brad, we should have kept Moore. Brad J just plain sucked, and I'm not buying into that "veteran on the sideline/locker room" crap. We need our own identity

The last few games of last year don't matter much because after the Boys lost the battle of New Orleans, the team cratered and the league went on the attack mode and the coaches and the players all quit on Parcells because they just knew he couldn't win it all and was stifling them and they gave up on themselves and the asssistant coaches scattered and BP realized it was over. That's my opinion.

I like the new outlook and enthusiasm of this team and this year is going to tell a lot about this team and the people on it. If they can overcome their injuries and have basically good health, they can go far. As always injuries and game breaks are the key to what happens and the team is starting out with a few limpers.

Yet another mind-blowing post count-padding post by the journeyman of the obvious. :p:

Romo ended the season last year as the highest rated passer OUTSIDE OF THE POCKET.

This scout is a total dumb arse. If he did any scouting at all, he would realize that teams actually started gameplanning TO KEEP ROMO IN THE POCKET.

By bringing outside pressure and maintaining rush lane integrity, teams forced Romo to beat them from the pocket.

This dumb arse scout must be a Deadskin scout:laugh2:

or one of his buddies across the street. Kinda like politics "SOURCES SAY", when all the writer did was make up a story, knowing no one would call him to devulge the source.

nothing here, move along to the next thread

Way off...those are his strengths.

Seemed to me that the way to neutralize Romo at the end of last season was to in fact keep him within the pocket to make his decisions and throws.

He definitley throws better while moving.....

What scares me though is how unprotected the ball ALWAYS is when he tries to avoid the rush...

It's no big deal to me that Romo has his detractors - anonymous or otherwise. He's been a mixed-bag with some extremely high moments and some extremely low ones as well... though, if memory serves, he provided more of the former.

Romo's "moxie" allows him to manufacture plays most pro QBs can't ad lib. But it also causes him to lose focus of fundamentals like ball-protection, internal-clock mechanisms, and throwing form. And that may well be the ongoing trade-off with him.

I don't get concerns about his arm because of passes like the one he threw to Witten, rolling to his left, late in last season's "away" game against the Giants. That was one of the best passes ANY QB threw all season. When he plants the back foot - he can throw with just about anybody from a downfield-accuracy POV.

QBs who have won games of consequence have their detractors and, while he is an exciting young player who certainly gives us cause for hope, Tony hasn't really won anything... yet.

Anonymous scout. Sounds pretty gutless.
You're being way too generous and who knows if this is an actual scout? Do we necessarily have to believe it is simply because ESPN says 'he' is?

Here's the link to the ESPN The Magazine page which states it's a scout making these statements:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview07/news/story?page=team07/dal (click on CLOAK AND DAGGER)

ESPN gives zero details about the scout. It's not like he's hiding government secrets to protect his identity. There isn't any need to reveal his name, address, etc. How about them giving readers some tidbits from his resume? Is he an independent scout or is he on an NFL team's staff? How many years has he been a scout? Heck, is he even an NFL scout? For all we know, he may be a scout on the college level.

Without any details about the identity of this 'anonymous scout' whatsoever, who's to say that Michael Wilbon didn't turn to Tony Kornheiser one day and asked, "Hey, do you want to be an anonymous source for ESPN The Magazine? You know football already. You cover the NFL. That's kinda like scouting, right? Just say you're a scout who wants to tell all without any blowback. It's no big deal. Really."

Man, it's pathetic to throw out 'anonymous' sources for totally unnecessary reasons. /rant off

TOTAL AGREEMENT on that assessment!

Been telling my buddies this, they think Im crazy, but I'm tellin ya that side arm throw 15 yards down will not open up the field.

I may be committed sacrilege here, but I actually think Romo has regressed during the pre-season. He does seem to be doing the "back foot" thing more often, and his fundamentals don't seem to be as sound anymore. I'm not jumping off the bandwagon yet by any means, but I wonder if Romo really doesn't need a Parcells-like personality to stay on him?

been saying it since last year.

People hate me because I write the unpopular, but more and more people are coming out and telling the truth about romo.

He just doesn't have it. He is a weakness on our team.

Hell, this could have been one of the scouts who thought Ryan Leaf would be a star.

No point speculating, no point getting the jock strap up in a wad, the seasons is upon us and Romo will get his say on the football field

Im not being a homer here, but Rex Grossman has never approached Romo in terms of skill level. Romo is a much more talented quarterback. Yes, Romo has almost TOO many weapons to use on offense we are so loaded at the skill positions, but so did Bledsoe. Romo is very talented.

Honestly without Romo as the qb of this team this team loses 10 games. I don't think this defense is going to be as good as we all thought , and we are going to need to score alot through the air.

Nah-we had more problems you could poke holes through. Worst off was our OL-even Tom Brady would *shudder* to be behind it. Look at Carolina last year as well-they couldn't open up holes for their RBs(like us), and they didn't give Jake much time to throw.

It all starts up front-'nuff said.

ad naseum

The cool thing to say around these parts.

If you want to be taken serious in CowboyZone say, "ad naseum". Yes, "ad naseum", my nose is up high and my finger on my chin, I know what I am taking about and you do not, yes I am looking down upon you. "Ad naseum".

1 Cherry Flavored Blunt = $0.52
1 Bag of Weed = $20
Michael Vicks Lost Career = $100 Million
Someone saying "Ad Naseum" in real life and watching them get their arse beat = PRICELESS! PEERLESS PRICELESS!

Talk about ad nauseam. And you can't even spell it right! *L*

:lmao:

Our house of cards is suddenly falling and Quinn is rising. This could possibly be the mistake that marks Jerry's career in football.

I don't care how confident we are in Romo's ability, fact of the matter is he has shown us nothing as of yet. Our best interest as a football team trying to compete for something serious, would have been best served with 2 quality prospects battling it out for the job. Not just simply handing it over to one unproven guy.

If we don't atleast land McFadden out of the deal and Romo fails, we could be looking at another decade of losing "ad nauseam". ;)
