I have not watched much of Cason at all. I have only heard alot about him from my dad. Does he play physical at the line at all? I'm a fan of bumping WR off routes.

I'm sure Hos can answer the question better than me but from the limited number of games I've seen he's a pretty physical guy, uses his hands a lot. A pretty good highlight reel here. (Good highlights for all the prospects actually) From the ATL Falcons webpage, who woulda thunk it.

I wonder if I can call the football office and get a quick interview with him? I may try it in the morning when they are open.

Goodness, you're sick

The strength of the Arizona Wildcats the last 3 years has been this kid on Defense. You run a risk every time you throw at him because he plays extremely tight and physical. He knocks away a lot of passes and he swipes his fair share. I think he will be better than Chris McAllister another Wildcat alum.

Bold statement. Chris McAllistor is still one of my favorite corners in the NFL. But I'm all for Cason so far.

I wish I had watched the video before I responded last time. Watch his INT against Cal and how many tackles he jukes with small moves. That's what he does on punt returns too.

You can see how physical on the INT against USC after the 2 minute mark.

Meh......The kid looks ok. Reminds me a bit of Henry actually. Seems a little stiff in the hips and doesn't look like he moves real fast. Now, this is just after watching the posted highlight reel for the Atlanta board, but I didn't come away saying "Wow! We gotta have this kid". I'd take Cromartie or McKelvin three times over before I even glanced at this kid.

I could be way off (sure wouldn't be the first time), but I wasn't overly impressed.

Did you say that after watching the Cason video? I think you may be "way off" on this one.

So does this mean the Cowboys are just bringing in these guys to talk...or does it mean there interested and want to talk to move forward

Remember, these are college players, not free agents.

The Cowboys are just bringing them in to "get a look under the hood" before the draft.

Yeah, I posted after watching the video. I just must be missing it, theo. Like I said it wouldn't be the first time. Four minutes of highlight and half of it was replaying the previous play from a different angle (alot are), but I just didn't come away saying "Wow!". I guess I'm the only one missing the boat on this one. *humbly shrugs*

He doesn't look fast because he is more of a taller/lanky type CB. He has been criticized for being a bit stiff in the hips, but he makes up for it in technique and instinct. If you like the really fast twitch/smooth hips type than a guy like Mike Jenkins from South Florida is probably more your style.

There really wasn't much to watch, but when they do show him in the backpedal, where he follows the receiver, then breaks back on the ball he looks remarkably fluid to me. For what it's worth he had the 2nd best shuttle time among CBs. And the 4th best broad jump, which is probably the best indication of "burst."

He runs stride for stride with Desean Jackson in that video, but doesn't look fast?

The part in bold is the key to your opinion.

You're probably right, to an extent, Hos. Cromartie and McKelvin have become my pet cats this off-season. jdnoyes may have hit it on the head that he doesn't look like he's fast because of his taller lankier build.

With that being said, I would still take Cromartie or Mckelvin over Cason. I have a feeling about 30 other NFL front offices feel the exact same way (you might find a couple that would take Cason over the other two, but you'd have to dig).

I might take DRC over him, but certainly not McKelvin. And Cason started the off-season at #1 or #2 on pretty much every person's board. Then he was the object of a "Too slow -- only a Cover 2 corner" meme that started and he began to drop. With his combine, he should be back at least #2 or #3 on boards. It's almost funny to watch the evolution of "draft expert" boards. They mimic each other so transparently, it's hilarious.

I have said I expect Jenkins, Cromartie, and McKelvin to be gone when we pick. So in a way, I agree with you. Just because you like a player doesn't mean to need to close you eyes on another player. Watch him again. He's fast, physical, and smart. I hope he blows the coaches away and we take him. He's that good.

Don't get me wrong, Hos, I won't be slitting my wrists if we can get the guy. Once he's a Cowboy I'm his #1 fan. Well.................maybe #2.;)

You might be right about how they come off the board, but the draft is a crapshoot, so who knows. I like Cromartie and to a lesser degree McKelvin, but for the life of me can't understand why Cason gets no love. He was a first team All American and Jim Thorpe winner for best DB in the country. Was a four year starter in a major college conference that loves to throw the football. He makes big plays and always seems to find the ball. He is a heck of a punt returner. He has the bloodlines (father played in the NFL). Oh and btw from all indications he's a very high character guy. He was part of the Arizona 4x100 relay team, but they question his speed and then he goes to the combine and runs a 4.45 forty. I don't know what else he needs to do.

He probably doesn't know what else he needs to do either. Which works to our favor if we can get him. Nothing like a guy loaded with talent and chip on his shoulder to prove a point.

He also had 2 cousins play in the NFL for the Cowboys.

Aveon Cason and Ken-Yon Rambo.
