I'm with you on this one. It's pretty silly to complain about an owner celebrating a dramatic OT win.

Well, a couple posters were pretty bold in their assertions, I'll grant. But we've got some fo the 'Jeremiads' on record with probabilities and none of them are outrageously pessimistic.

I think the thread sort of turned at some point. In the beginning, the pessimists were maybe over the top and towards the end the optimists have been. Over the top pessimism was met with even farther over the top optimism. It was a game of Dueling Categoricals, if you will.

Top QBs are handed starting jobs. Wow, there's a revelation. Thank you for setting me straight. I never knew that in all my 39 years of fandom. My whole perspective has changed.

Last season does not matter. Get over it already and focus on this year.

I'll say this, no one puts more effort into avoiding having to admit they were wrong. Last season matters Hos, you are smart enough to know that. Is it the end all be all? No. But when you finish like we did last year, have the offseason we had (status quo), then a start to the season like this (the way last year ended) you should be able get an idea about the most likely path this season will take, not the set in stone path, but most likely path.

Top Qbs are given the job at the begining of training camp every year and not forced to compete because of the way they played the season before.

Coaches bring back starters in all positions because of their style of play from the season before. Style of play on an individual level and a team level matter, especially when there are no big changes in the offseason.

At the beginning of the season odds makers set up odds that a team will make the playoffs, return to the superbowl, win the superbowl, etc. You know what factors into those odds? Off season moves and last seasons results and style of play...

Ill say it again, LAST SEASON MATTERS!

Did we make the playoffs last year? NO

Are we playing better, the same, or worse than last year? About the same.

Does it appear we will make the playoffs this year based on the past two questions? No.

Again this does not rule out the playoffs, its just a statement made on history and trends and a statement that most logical and honest Cowboy fans are going to say is correct at this juncture.

Early I did call into question your football IQ, I do want to make sure that it is clear that was sarcastic or simply a way of saying I know you are smarter than this ( I realize it probably did not come off that way and I apologize if it didnt). I know you are very football smart, especially when it comes to the nuts and bolts and the history, and in most cases (this one aside) I agree with you or if I don't will admit I am the one that is probably wrong.

Someone needs too ...... How anyone can be happy after this horrible loss to the Chiefs is beyond me.

I guess the blind homer sheep have their heads buried in the sand to deep to see what is happening.

Okay, so by this "logic" the 12 playoff teams in 2009 will be the Giants, Eagles, Vikings, Panthers, Falcons, and Cardinals in the NFC. Then the Colts, Dolphins, Titans, Steelers, ravens, and Chargers in the AFC.

That is your logic. I don't see it even being close to happening, but run with it.
