Further evidence that Jason Williams is a physical freak

Tim MacMahon E-mail News tips

Remember how Jarron Gilbert, the defensive end the Bears drafted 68th overall, became a YouTube legend by jumping out of a pool? Well, the guy drafted right after Gilbert can do that, too.

"Pretty stocked right now cuz i just jumped out of 3 feet of water today!!" Cowboys LB Jason Williams tweeted yesterday.

I asked Williams via Twitter whether he had video of him flying out of the water. His reply: "nah it was kind of random, so no cameras were rolling"

Since the dude is 6-1, 238, clocked 4.44 and 4.49 40s and skied for a 39-inch vertical during his pro day, I'll believe him despite the lack of video evidence.

Jumping out of a pool really isn't that impressive to me. I know a couple of average Joes who can do it.

Yeah, I believe the day of the draft Stephen Jones said as much and that I think he intimated that he could do it.

Can he catch 7 balls with one hand? Give me a break. Every year we hype low drafted rookies only to see that this is the NFL!

An early pick in the third round isn't really considered "low drafted".

What's it going to be then, eh?

I don't give a damn if he's a physical freak or not. All that matters is if he can play football.

I've been swimming laps for over 20 years and I can do it quite readily if I haven't swam too many miles in the pool, so that's not a horrendously big feat.

I'd like to see video of those who claim they can do it like it's no big deal. Forgive me, I doubt you can.

Oh, and I agree with Alexander, I really only care if he can play football. It's still impressive.

No you don't. If they did, they won't be average.

If it's such an average thing to do, why does a guy who has certifiable numbers of 6'1, 240 lbs, 4.46 forty, 39 inch vert and 26 bench reps feel stoked enough to twitter about it?

So what's the definition of posting on a forum: Having enough jealousy about people's unexceptional lives to have to rag on them.

Do you weigh 290 pounds?

Let me borrow ur cam and then we'll get on it. After that, if I'm in a good mood I'll not only do a gainer for you but I may do a 2.5 gainer and about 50 other dives that I regularly do if I arrive at the pool before lap time gets started. You don't have to be a professional athlete to do athletic things like this. This world is loaded, and I mean loaded with athletic ppl. Just because professional athletes get paid to do certain things doesn't mean other ppl can't. They thought guys from the world league couldn't make it in the nfl either. And no I don't weigh 290lbs. but neither does Jamal Williams. He should be able to do that with his height and weight, especially since training is his life. I would say many in the nfl can do that.
