I have no problem with that, but seriously we get like 2-3 new threads a week about Parcells. I didnt hate him when he was here, but damn its time to move on from him. every discussion about the Cowboys doesnt need to end with "thanks to Parcells" Know what I mean?

Does anyone seriously think we are 6-1 if {arcells were still here?

I don't know what his record would have been this year had he stayed that is impossible to know. Bottom line is he is not here and Phillips and Company are doing a great job but yes BP plays a role with this current group just as Jimmy Johnson played a role when Switzer was here I don't see how that can be denied.

BP entered the picture coaching a team that had 3 years in a row of 5-11 and leaves in place the current group that we see today. A blind man should be able to see the positive effect that BP had on this franchise. No doubt the final goal was not achived but we are still better off today because of Parcells.
Again...how come anytime the 1st and 2nd round whiffs are pointed out we start with the 5-11 song and dance...again, we were 5-11 because we had no cap room....had many players taken up dead cap space...had very few first day draft picks...had probably the lowest paid head coach in the NFL..and the head coach had VERY LITTLE say in personell decisions. Parcells had TONS of cap room...had plenty of 1st day picks..was paid a kings ransom...had ALMOST complete control of the personell decisions...he DID NOT win a playoff game...in today's NFL 4 years IS LONG ENOUGH to win a playoff game...stop jocking him. He did not win a playoff game because he could not get out of the way of HIS OWN EGO. His 4 years here should be considered a failure. If any other coach had that backdrop for 4 years it would be considered a failure...why are we so reluctant to call a spade a spade. Wade Phillips will most likely end YEARS of frustration for us IN ONE YEAR. There is no reason we should have started 8-4...with 3 out of the last 4 games at home and STILL lose the division to the Eagles...who were 5-6 by the way. I am over Parcells...but I am sick and tired of hearing about how great he was when this is a bottom line business and the bottom line is he did not get it done.

And are we really going to compare Julius Jones to Steven Jackson? Some of you are impossible!

They still talked a lot about Jimmy when Switzer was here. To suggest that now that he's gone he doesn't have anything to do with the current team is ridiculous. Mainly because 85% of the current players on the roster were acquired and developed under his tenure, including QB who will probably start in the Pro Bowl for the NFC, and if Parcells doesn't bring the 3-4 to Dallas Wade doesn't get the HC job. We probably have Norv as the HC *shudder*.

As I said I have no problem giving him credit for players he brought in. What however bugs me is it seems every conversation turns into a "thanks to Parcells" thread.

Yeah thank Parcells but for the love of god he doesnt have to mentioned in every thread LOL

As for Norv, never mention that name again, go say 10 hail Landrys and repent

It does not change the fact that this team is better off today because of Parcells regardless if you like it or not. Did he miss on picks yes and guess what so does every other team out there or do you really think every team is signing all 7 draft picks and hitting on UDFA? Was BP perfect no but this team is miles ahead of where they were. As for Wade I think he was the perfect selection by Jerry in taking over there is no doubt that BP style can wear on a team but to say BP had nothing to do with the make up of this team if flat out wrong

NO team finds gems in every draft, I think we've had as many bad drafts as anyone else and there are far more first round underperformers or outright flops than stars.

The only reason we notice it so much is that this is "our" team, look up the drafts of other teams in the league and you'll see it's pretty much the same for everyone. You're not going to get a hall of fame player out of every first round pick.

who said he had nothing to do with it? And quite frankly, who cares? I am convinced that had he returned the outcome would be more of the same....nail biters into the 4th quarter and yet another season without a playoff win. Why does it seem so important for some people (read: Keyshawn Johnson) to point out that Wade is winning with Parcells players? Well Parcells could not win with them...so something about his philosophy/strategy was not working and we parted ways! And Cowboy Nation will be better for it. We won before Parcells....did NOT win with him...and WILL win AFTER him. He and his overwhelming personality is gone and I am glad for it!

That is your opinion and I can respect that my only point was that BP did play a part in what is taking place and to deny that is flat out wrong. I don't get into what Key says he does not speak for me so if that is what is hacking you off what some guys in the media are saying then get over it after all who cares about what Key has to say. As for what would Parcell have done or not done this season had he remained is nothing more than a guess. This would have been only his 2nd year with Romo so who knows. There is just no way of knowing unless you have some crystal ball that sees into the future. Again I love the job Phillips is doing and glad he is here and I take nothing away from what he is doing.

Because it speaks to the quality of the selection.
Scott Shanle starts on another team, but he still sucks.

Good thing we didn't draft him, and then turned around and got a 7th for him.

I don't know if we would still be 6-1 under Parcells. I really can't think of a 6 game stretch in recent history when we have had four of the seven worst teams in the NFL lined up and we never had consistent QB play while he was here that could mask horrible defense like we saw in the Giants game.

Jackson is sitting on the sidelines injured- again. As regards production, if JJ was getting 80% of the touches- and was getting the ball thrown to him as often as jackson was- who is to say his production would be all that much different?

bbailey, I do not know why you keep trying to deny the obvious- BP rebuilt this team to where it is today. Maybe as a coach he was burned out, but in talent acquisition he still got it done.

As a coach he failed

As a talent guy he was in the top 10 or so in the league

Either way his tenure here is based on winning like all coaches that came before him, and in that department he was a failure.

Trying to contribute this seasons success to Parcells is IMO a desperate reach to put a polish on the rust of his Cowboys coaching legacy

perhaps if JJ was getting 80% of the touches we would be a .500 team...you cannot be serious!

he added some nice talent...but he whiffed quite a bit...neither fact can be denied. And again, what does that have to do with the fact that HE DID NOT WIN a playoff game. We are in the longest drought in franchis history...and when you consider all of the resources he had at his disposal it is not too much to ask him to have ended the drought. He did NOT get it done...and the only reason some of you are reluctant to admit that is because of his NAME! But thank God there are still people in Dallas that understand Bill Parcells did NOT invent the game of football. He is gone...we should be thankful and appreciate the new guy..and MOVE on!
