Could Phillips have come here in 2003, gain the control necessary and rebuild this team? We all know the no names on the roster when Parcells arrived. We all know the QB situation when he arrived. Talk about draft misses.

Phillips best HC stretch was in Buffalo. He took over a team that was above five hundred or better consistently before he arrived. With the exception of Levy's last season.
He didn't have to completely turn the roster over, he had some players in place. He had two good years before bringing the Bills back to five hundred.

Was that a success? Could he have took our roster, worked with our GM and put the talent we now have on this team? I doubt it. Just like I doubt any other coach JJ interviewed in 2003 could have.

Wade is doing a great job with what was handed to him. Garrett appears to be lending a huge hand in that. But I don't think we would be in this position with out Parcells ever being here. Parcells didn't have the greatest W-L record here, but to deny he upgraded the talent and opend the door for this team to make a run is idiotic at best.

Fasano (2nd) - will never amount to much as long as Witten is healthy

I think Fasano is a KEY weapon to our offense. He hasnt had ALOT of catches... but he has had BIG ones in his short careert. We may have the best 1-2 TE tandem in league.... and we use both of them.

what we had pre Parcells and we were a non factor in division and made playoffs twice in BP era. a first since what 1997?

He has put Phillips in a position to win in 2007. BP the Gm was solid, the coach was not perfect.

Do you remember why we had those records? No draft picks, no salary cap, and a coach who had no control over personnel.......remember that. Do you think Parcells the great would have done better under those conditions? Then Parcells comes in and takes this team that Campo put together and has his best record of his tenure..................He should thank Campo for that!

Like I have said before, he hit on some late rounder draft picks, and udfa players. But that is more luck than talent evaluations. Real talent evaluations is with your top draft picks, and BP failed miserably. Had he hit on the majority of the top draft flops he made, we would be in the NE/Indy category.

It is proven that the top teams build and have always built through the draft. You get the cornerstones of your team with the top draft picks. BP paid alot of Jerry's money covering for his drafting mistakes. Had he hit on rogers, there would be no Columbo, Marten of Free. Hit on Burnett, there would be no Ayodele...........Johnson, no big Gurode contract, Peterman, no Kozier, Watkins, no Hamlin...........see how it works. Carpentar, no Spencer.........

Parcells made us a better team, no doubt. But many legitimate coaches could have done the same, and better given the control Jerry gave BP? and using BP's own words, your are what your record says you are, 2 games above .500, same as Gailey with less talent, control and salary cap.

Be careful using sound logic around here...especially when it comes to Parcells...I mean the largest signing bonus in Cowboy history on a GUARD...after we already had given Rivera 10M....I agree it was a hole, but when you dole that kind of money out for a GUARD..what do you think we are going to have to pay Romo, Newman and Ware...and it would not bother me as much if we could RUN THE BALL WHENEVER WE FELT LIKE IT....not after a team is tired! Again, not blaming Leonard Davis, but gosh his signing bonus in a salary cap era will always disturb me...and I know I know, we had the cap room, but geesh.....we are talking about a GUARD people!

We are damn close.

Doesn't it work the same way for every team in the NFL? You hit some you miss some. You do it again next draft, then the next. It was a whole lot better than what were doing in the draft via GM Jones.

I agree you hit and miss...but come on....our record on the 1st day of the draft during the Parcells era is shaky at best...and to hear most people tell it, the guy is a draft guru!

Spears -1st round
Carpenter - 1st round
Rogers - 2nd round
Burnett - 2nd round
Fasano - 2nd round
JuJo - 2nd round
Johnson - 2nd round
Peterman - 3rd round

Some are already gone and can you honestly say any on that list will ever see a 2nd contract from the team?

Yeah I can. We might not like it as fans but I would bet Spears, Carp, Fasano ( who I like) and JJ could very well see another contract.
