This receiver class was just too crappy to risk drafting one, sure you can point to guys who might be doing well now, but you can't apply that to draft day decisions.

Why not?

Yeah.

You made the comment, I'd like to see you back it up with some information.

Otherwise, it just sounds like opinion and excuse-making.

umm no it doesn't I couldn't imagine you were serious.

you can't apply knowledge today to draft day, you just can't. How many receivers got picked in the first? That alone should tell you all you need to know about the talent level, or the perceived talent level.

So and so is looking great in camp is not a valid reason to say we made a mistake on draft day.

We made a safer pick, an we made it on a potential pain in the butt, that should be more than enough evidence for you about how good the receiving class was determined to be by people that know more about football than you and I combined.

I defer to people less ignorant than me, its a strategy that has served me well. You should try it out.

Really?

So NFL team's are infallible and never miss?

Yeah.

Tell that to Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, and the Lions for starters. And also Marques Colston and the Saints. The draft is far from an exact science.

Thanks, but I prefer thinking for myself rather than letting anyone else do it for me.

They've gotten it wrong plenty before and they will again. Nobody's infallible.

Well, almost nobody......

I like to do the same thing so I can brag about it later on the internet.

As long as they had draft picks, they were 'in position' to draft Jackson - or Sweed, or anyone else they wanted to.

And Jackson is looking like a steal for the Eagles both as a receiver and returner...

Yeah, that James Marten pick from last year is really looking great. Much rather a lineman that can't play over one of those receivers taken last year.

Again, do you feel they needed to draft a backup TE in the second round? Now it looks like they have too many and they can't afford to keep Hannah, a solid young player.

That's the part I have the biggest problem with.

So, you are saying that Dallas should have used a first round pick on Desean Jackson. Dallas may have offered to trade up with some other to get Jackson in the 2nd round. We don't know if they did or didn't. We just know that when their pick came up in the 2nd, he was gone. Barring a trade up earlier in the 2nd, the only way to get Jackson was to draft him in the 1st.

What does Marten who was drafted in 2007 have anything to do with Dallas not drafting Jackson or Sweed in 2008? Nothing.

I didn't say Dallas needed to draft Bennett. You mentioned two players that Dallas could have drafted instead of Bennett. One in Jackson that they really could not have drafted because he was already drafted by the Eagles. The other was Sweed. They could have drafted him and for this season he would not have solved the receiving problems. He is a rookie who is struggling to adjust to the NFL. Maybe he will be good down the line, but you were talking about someone contributing this season.

Me posting stupid pictures has nothing to do with my desire to find fault with NFL talent evaluators so that later I can brag about it to people on the internet. (Hence it was a failed burn.) Let's stay on topic. I told the Broncos to get Terrell Davis. Top that.

If you say so.

I'm not 'bragging' about anything.

I'm merely stating that I don't agree with every thing that the Cowboys do or don't do.

And I don't apologize for having a difference of opinion.

Not at all. I'm saying that they could have drafted him if they had really wanted to. It might have meant not being able to draft stud OLB Erik Walden in round 6, but I'd be willing to live with that.

I think it has plenty. There were decent to good receivers to be had, and yet the team took a bust lineman who can't play while they continue to ignore the receiver position.

Again, they could have had either one if they really wanted them. Draft position is an excuse.

Jackson looks like he'll be a key contributor in Philadelphia while Bennett will always be TE #2 in Dallas - at best.

Back in the day, I was all like - don't draft Dwayne Goodrich! And I was right, of course.

You should all probably defer to my firm stances on what we should have done in the draft from now on.

You having an opinion is fine. That does not mean that either your opinion or my opinion is right in the end.

You brought up Dallas drafting Marten in the 3rd round in 2007. There were 8 wide receivers drafted in the 3rd round after Dallas picked Marten. Of those 8 only James Jones of the Packers did anything. Two more were drafted in the 4th round and did nothing. Dallas could have drafted any one of those wide receivers to try to address the wide receiver position as you desire and in the end may have still failed to do so. Those guys drafted may eventually pan out, but it is not as if they are head and shoulders above the receivers Dallas has brought in as undrafted free agents.

I don't understand why you are so foolish as to think that #2 tight end means he can't out produce any receiver you are hot for.

You apply logic to some things but not all?

My mom and dad bought a pinto when I was a kid, I said "That car is about to blow up!"

I saved my entire family that day. I am pretty sure Tom Landry would have been in that car when it exploded.

So, technically, I saved the franchise.
