DMN: BLOG: Isaiah Stanback wants to put off surgery until after season

Dang it guys I wanted DaBoy4life to answer my question.

I wanted to know his philosiphies on developing WR's.

Thanks.

I did answer you question. I said I think they should be thrown into the fire early. If they can handle it or not is the difference. The mental let downs for a WR early on isn't the same for a QB. Once a good QB loses his confidence he is done for. I think most WR are a dime a dozen finding a franchise QB is hard. The biggest thing for a WR to adjust to is getting off the line if they can do that they will be fine.

take the needle Isiah and rehab it

I think he has more of a bruised ego after that fumble - lol

he will be fine in a week - book it

Not positive, but I'm pretty sure it was not of the major variety.
If he had surgery now, is he done for the year?

I was actually hoping he would get the surgery...

That way Jerry would look more into a trade for a WR.

It's not like you are the franchise, Stany. You're a benchwarmer for now.

Get the surgery now better than later.

And, get off the cross! We need the wood!

He is going to be our Kick returner and a few plays max a game at WR.

He can wear harness, rehab strengthen and take shots for pain.

Considering he's already hurt the shoulder twice on KRs, I would suggest he not return KOs this year should he choose not to get the shoulder repaired.

For his own long-term health, he should go ahead and get the surgery now.

someone explain the medicine to me. emmitt separated his shoulder against the giants and was at near 100 percent in a few weeks. is it just a matter of the degree?

Different strokes for different folks.

Stanback just needs to get the surgery and get ready for next season. And no more KR for Mr. Glassback.

I give him after the first play, of the first game.

The morning after, we will get word he is opting for surgery.

I don't understand. Why are people begging for us to release Stanback just to sign someone else, when we could easily place him on IR and get the same result, i.e. adding another player????

That doesn't make sense.

Me thinks an agenda is being driven...

When it comes down to roster cuts, perhaps we should put Kosier or Stanback on PUP. He wouldn't count as a roster spot and I think we'd get 6ish or so weeks to then decide if he'll play and take a roster spot or go on IR.

we can't put him on the IR if he doesn't do the surgery.

We can IR him surgery/non surgery.

Not sure we can PUP him as not existing injury going into camp.

PUP is for players who can't pass their entry physicals prior to the start of training camp.

It gives teams extra time to evaluate players rehabbing injuries before making decisions on their availability for the season.

Teams would use PUP to hide developmental prospects and avoid exposing them to waivers if any injured player couls be added during camp/pre-season.

This is not correct.

We can place him on injured reserve as long as there is a verifiable injury. It has nothing to do with whether or not he elects surgery or whether his injury costs him significant time. It is basically eliminating him from the roster or practicing.

You hear about players all the time getting upset because they believed they could have rehabbed and played yet their season was ended by being place on the list.
