I didnt say that....I said the 5th or 6th WR will contribute nothing here...Austin and Hurd are our 3rd and 4th......so keeping Stanback on IR would be a good thing.....right?

Its sounds like you think Austin is gone for the year? same with Kosier.....they are not....they may miss a few games...

Put Stanback on the IR....keep a player ...like a CB where there is more talent...why keep a WR? OL? or a LB here that would could easily put on the practice squad?

I know Austin isn't going to be gone the whole season but he will miss like 1 or 2 games. We will need some one to replace him for those games. When he comes back that person will fall into Stanback spots. I don't see the purpose of how we lose a WR maybe for the year in Stanbach but we keep an extra CB instead that doesn't make season. Either we cut Ogelsby or Ball it doesn't matter either way they are about the same level and CB is one of our deepest positions.

Stanback in his 2 season haven't been healthy and hasn't lived up to his potential. He hasn't been making and impact at the WR spot and as a KR there a better options. So what the point of keeping an injury prospect that hasn't shown much of nothing.

Why did we keep Romo? He didnt show much his first 3 seasons..????

Its ok for a team to keep a player for his potential.....there are 53 players on this team.....What happened to the 3 year rule.....developing a player is a good thing.....not evil.

Stanback has impressed the coaches last year and again this year....he is learning a new position....it takes time....what is the problem?

I guess we shouldnt of taken a chance on Columbo either then.......or a headcase like Owens.....or Tank...or Pacman..........

I was really disappointed in seeing Stanback get injured again....but whats wrong in putting him on IR? Whats wrong in thinking that we can develope this player?

what's up Mash? but the difference between Romo and Stanglass is Stanglass gets hurt anytime he's touched. he's just wasting a roster spot imo.

We wrote off plenty of players early and that didn't seem to turn it around.

I think developing a QB is different than a WR. I also think a QB should sit the first 1-2 season. Considering Romos being undrafted and coming from a small school I think the extra season of learning was needed. There is nothing wrong with developing a player but it comes to the point where the developmental players need to develop faster.

I don't see how you could compare Tank Owens or Pacman to Stanback but thats neither here nor there. Isiah Stanback hasn't really shown much of anything if we can get a better WR why shouldn't we ? If we have a better returner why should we use the returner.

I do not believe in the 3 year rule. I'd rather cut my loses than hold on to players with nothing but potential. Isiah Stanback to me is Skyler Green. I'm pretty sure that players aren't allowed to practice while on the IR thats type cheating.

I have to say, I'm not really familiar with the impact the harness will have.

But if this is something Stanback is going to have to likely deal with for some time, and this is about as good as it gets, I guess that puts a different spin on things.

One thing though, do you know of any successful WRs and/or Kickreturners in the NFL who have played with a harness for a season or for most of their careers?

I'm just curious . . . .

I don't know of players who have played with it but I am sure there have been those out there.

Honestly, I am no expert in the matter and my opinion is based off what I witness a good friend of mine go through so I don't want to come off as knowing that this is best option or anything.

As far as playing the rest of his career with just the harness, I really don't know. What I do know is that surgery isn't a sure fix. I don't know if this is the same shoulder as last year but my guess would be yes. If it is the same shoulder, I would expect that even after getting it worked on that he would wear some sort of harness to keep things in check.

Putting myself in his position, I'd have to hold off on surgery at this point. He shouldn't really feel any pain unless it comes out again and if the harness is there to stop that, I can't see why it would be a problem.

Once again though, I'm no expert so I hope no one take me as one.

Yes, I think it is the same shoulder if I remember correctly.

So I suppose this is something that Stanback is going to have to likely deal with on a somewhat regular basis going forward.

Well, off the top of my head, Jimmy Smith was released because of injuries. He spent something like two seasons with us on IR and we released him. He was picked up by Jacksonville and went on to 9 1000 yard+ receiving years in 10 seasons. He'll probably end up in the HOF.

Todd Christensen was a guy we drafted out of BYU in like 77/78 something like that. He wanted to play FB, we wanted him to be a TE. He ended up in Oakland and was an All Pro TE for years.

I think we had Marques Colston in camp as an FA at one time as well. We gave up on him, Sean Payton picked him up and he lead the NFC in receiving yards last year.

It does happen.

if you sign up for the site and have numbers in your name you should have to jump through more hoops to verify your membership than the rest of us. Seems a pattern is forming.

I would love to hear your beliefs on developing a WR.

Colston was drafted in the 7th round by the Saints.

I'm still think the people we have gotten rid turn out to be nothing than turn around and be successful. The fact that you guys are even going back to the 70's kind of proves my point.

I think WR can be thrown into the fire faster and sooner than QB's and still be able to succeed.

Thats kind of a "No Duh" comment though because you can say that about every position on the field.

What else you got?
