I know this will upset some, but I actually like Chris Cooley and think he's a very good player. I reject the notion he would be a 3rd TE here. If we had 3 TEs that talented someone would be traded. It is okay to acknowledge someone is a good player. Doing so does not mean you hate your own team's players.

The videos are moronic without a doubt, but they were just having fun. It has already backfired on him and it will backfire worse. Especially if they continue to do some more.

He's obsessed with Witten. Witten is obsessed with football and winning. Call it whatever else you want but it makes the Commanders look buffoonish and the Cowboys look good that it has gone down this way.

Really the only comment I have is about the mask. At one point in the plans do you agree with you joke buddy that the mask is a good idea?

"Hey, you can wear a black cowboy hat and I'll wear a Zorro mask."

"Brilliant!!!!"

Not so much.

What an idiot.

Someone should hold these pictures up in front of David Buehler and tell him, "Kill."

I don't love them, but I do respect them.

I will however repent just for you.

Do you know how to keep Commanders out of your yard? Paint a goal line.

What do you call a Commanders player with a Super Bowl Ring? Washed up Free Agent looking for a paycheck.

What's the difference between a Commanders fan and a puppy? After a couple of weeks a puppy will quit whining.

What's the difference between the Commanders and a dollar? You can still get 4 quarters out of a dollar.

What do you say to a Commanders TE and backup QB who are making homoerotic videos about star rival players? "Hi Chris, hi Colt. What's with the mask? Have I interrupted something? I could leave. I won't ask and I won't tell."

Am I forgiven?

Jason Witten is not laughing along with Commanders TE Chris Cooley, a unique character who made videos mocking "J-Wit Dog" for the Cooley Zone blog audience.

"I kind of got wind of it," Witten said after today's practice. "I haven't really seen it myself yet. You know, I know Chris is into the blogging and that deal. It's not really my style. My focus is here in camp and trying to be a better team. I don't know why he's doing that. I haven't really looked into it that much. I haven't had much time."

Cooley, responding to angry blog comments from Cowboys fans, wrote that he was "sure" Witten wouldn't be offended by the videos. He mentioned that the Pro Bowl tight ends were friends, which was apparently news to Witten.

"I mean, we've met a couple of times, if that's what you call friends," Witten said before changing the subject, clearly wanting to avoid any controversy. "He's a good player. He really is. I just try not to get involved it just right now with my focus being here and trying to help my team. I have enough focus on my job and trying to be the best player I can be."

I'm pretty certain every player brought their Laptop with them, and I'm pretty sure he's seen it, and just didn't think it was cute, so now Cooley is looking pretty stupid.

Now, that's much, much better.

I'll be ok now.

Witten steers clear of Cooley fray
Posted by Mike Florio on August 1, 2009 11:44 AM ET

Commanders tight end Chris Cooley created a bit of an Internet stir this week, without posting any photos of his twig-and-playbook or blowing up dead animals, Independence Day style.

Cooley took some jabs at Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, both via videos posted on Cooley's web site and then a follow-up post in which Cooley knocked Witten's abilities, sort of.

Witten is taking the high road, according to Tim MacMahon of the Dallas Morning News.

"I kind of got wind of it," Witten said after practice on Friday. "I haven't really seen it myself yet. You know, I know Chris is into the blogging and that deal. It's not really my style. My focus is here in camp and trying to be a better team. I don't know why he's doing that. I haven't really looked into it that much. I haven't had much time."

Possible translation? "While Chris is screwing around with that sort of stuff, I've been getting ready to play football."

Once Cooley's videos drew the ire of Cowboys fans, Cooley claimed that he and Witten are friends.

"I mean, we've met a couple of times, if that's what you call friends," Witten said. "He's a good player. He really is. I just try not to get involved it just right now with my focus being here and trying to help my team. I have enough focus on my job and trying to be the best player I can be."

It's a shame that these guys don't play on opposite sides of the ball, because reading between the lines we get the distinct impression that Witten is pissed off, and that it's not his way to say so.

Not at all surprised by Witten's response. He continues to display the type of maturity and character that we've grown to love. Always take the high road when dealing with idiots and fools.

Cooley, this is how a Pro handles his business.
Really, seemed kinda idiotic to me. Look, I don't care about the video in that it was not very funny, but Witten's response smacks of an arrogant kid pouting. Really seems to re-emphasize the personality difference of the 2.

well obviously, but who would we trade, the best TE in the game? the 22 year old Antonio Gates clone but bigger. or the 27 year old cooley, who is good, but not as good as either above... hmmm.. whether traded or not, cooley does not make our roster. even if you believe he is a little bit better then martyB he is way older. so we would keep marty..

like i said, cooley doesn't make this roster.. period.

Chris Cooley is like a school teacher in the summer-time...NO CLASS!

Everyone has the right to be shallow & stupid, however, Cooley abuses the privilege. Between his ears is a vortex of nothing but, swirling dust, wind, and condom wrappers. My dog has manifested turds with more class & intelligence.

He sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them, has delusions of adeqacy, and has made mediocrity an art form in the TE position.

Cooley is a Fluffy Bunny Douchenozzle who will never be half the man his mother is.

He should be looking to Witten as an example of how conduct oneself as a professional, both on and off the field.

Nothing Witten stated even remotely implies arrogance. Nice try.

Cooley intentionally created a nonhumorous video with an embedded underlying false implication of his "friend's" sexual orientation, which he followed up with untruths ABOUT the video when questioned.

Now, I wouldn't describe Cooley as arrogant. No, but I would call him spiteful; and in this case, it would be an accurate description.
