Really, seemed kinda idiotic to me. Look, I don't care about the video in that it was not very funny, but Witten's response smacks of an arrogant kid pouting. Really seems to re-emphasize the personality difference of the 2.

Pouting? More like angry. Witten wants no part of controversy, yet - through no actions of his own - he's forced to field questions from reporters hoping to stir something up. All because of some nimrod's buffoonery.

I agree with a lot of Hos' sentiments. I'm not so sure I would go as far as to say Cooley would be the 3rd string TE on this team because Bennett is still an unknown commodity at this point. It's one thing to look great in preseason and show some great flashes in your rookie season, it's another to play on a Pro Bowl level year in and year out like Cooley has.

However, the video was plain dumb and I think a lot of Commanders fans know that, but he's their guy so of course they are going to think it was funny.

Athletes get their arses kissed all of the time. I'll never forget about 4 years ago I went to a practice round at the Masters and a journeyman pro named Fred Funk went up to one of the marshals on the tee and asked to get some tees (which were put on the table for the golfers to take). Even without trying to be funny, everybody laughed with Fred Funk like he made the funniest gesture ever. I was sitting there thinking that these guys are not far removed from Star Trek conventioneers, but they couldn't get over how funny that was. And that was for Fred freaking Funk. So with a bigger star in a bigger sport, the arse kissing gets even worse.

And while I thought it was stupid, not funny and a bit ignorant for Cooley to make the video, why a 3rd string QB who has never even thrown a regular season pass attempt thinks he can mock anybody in this league baffles me.

Meanwhile, Witten has used the old phrase that 'well done is better than well said' and completely dismissed Cooley and that 3rd string QB for looking like a couple of boobs. Hopefully Bennett can stop doing his moronic videos and focus on being the 2nd best tight end in the league. Then we can talk about Cooley not even making the Cowboys' roster.

Now don't go getting all butthurt because Witten conducts himself in a professional manner while Cooley spends his time making sophomoric parodies that aren't remotely funny.

:laugh2:

I just want to point out, that I wasn't saying he would be our 3rd TE. I was saying posts making that claim are not recognizing that he is a top notch TE.

If Chief chews my butt out for this, it's your fault.

Jason Witten is not laughing along with Commanders TE Chris Cooley, a unique character who made videos mocking "J-Wit Dog" for the Cooley Zone blog audience.

"I kind of got wind of it," Witten said after today's practice. "I haven't really seen it myself yet. You know, I know Chris is into the blogging and that deal. It's not really my style. My focus is here in camp and trying to be a better team. I don't know why he's doing that. I haven't really looked into it that much. I haven't had much time."

Cooley, responding to angry blog comments from Cowboys fans, wrote that he was "sure" Witten wouldn't be offended by the videos. He mentioned that the Pro Bowl tight ends were friends, which was apparently news to Witten.

"I mean, we've met a couple of times, if that's what you call friends," Witten said before changing the subject, clearly wanting to avoid any controversy. "He's a good player. He really is. I just try not to get involved it just right now with my focus being here and trying to help my team. I have enough focus on my job and trying to be the best player I can be."

For those who think Cooley is not Cowboy material:

- Cooley has averaged 63 catches a year throughout his career and caught 83 balls last year
- he has 28 td's in 5 years, including 3 in one game against the Cowboys
- he has made the Pro Bowl twice
- he is in his prime at 27 years old

If you would not take a player with those numbers, that speaks for itself.

Oh, I think most of us would. It's ridiculous to say that he wouldn't make our team. He wouldn't beat out Witten....that's for sure.

Anyway, I think most of us are simply excited about Bennett. He's poised for a big year. We caught a glimpse of his abilities toward the end of last season. He seems to be building on it....he's been the star of camp. He's bigger, faster, and can jump higher than Witten. He moves like a WR.

I think he may wind up being better than Cooley....but not right now.

i never said cooley was bad, he is very good, he doesn't make our roster though.. if the skins came to jerry wanting a straight up deal cooley for bennett. i guarantee it would not be taken, martyB is to young and to talented.. where cooley is way more proven, martyB is the future..

the Pro Bowl is notorious for undeserving players, as fans can and do stuff ballot boxes

The fact remains that one can make a Pro Bowl and still, theoretically, not be even in the top-15 of one's position across the NFL

Even if one leaves aside the popularity contest aspect of the Pro Bowl, it still does not prove that one is top five in the NFL.
Sammy Baugh;2846890 said:
Because of this, touting a Pro Bowl berth as proof of top-5-in-the-NFL status is illogical. It is a fallacy.

Face it. Cooley is simply jealous of Witten. There is no other excuse for his idiocy. As far as Brennen goes, well, he should show he even belongs in the NFL before he starts doing crap like this. That's probably his 15 minutes of fame, if you want to call it that. He'll NEVER be anything in the league.

You have to consider the rest of the roster before you really think of Cooley's numbers. His numbers are inflated because of your WR and QB situation.

I'd like to see more of this out of the Commanders.

Please give the Cowboys a reason to get up for the games against you. The only time I feel like we'll get maximum effort out of the Cowboys is against NYG and that's because they run their mouths so much. Step up to the plate with that level of garbage, Washington, I'm begging you.

You forgot one:
- Led the league in 7 yard catches on 3rd and 8.

The fact that, in 2008, he had the second lowest yards per catch of any receiver in the top 60 in receiving yards is a testament to how many of his catches were dumpoffs and TE screens.
