And while you're at it, show me how many teams have 3 undrafted WR's and a 7th rounder among their top 5 receivers?
And how many teams have only drafted a QB in the first 2 rounds once in the last 2 decades?

I wish I could get the same mileage at my job for things I did 15 years ago.

I caught some of Jerry Jones on his weekly appearance on The Fan this morning, and he was not ready to throw away the season after a 2-2 start. No shocker.
Anyway, here's what he said:
"I really like our team. I like the makeup of our team. I like the quarterback a lot. I've been part of a team that lost the first two games and won a Super Bowl. You've got to be a little careful when you've got the length of a season that we've got."
On Jason Garrett's playcalling: "It's so easy to second guess playcalling. I think it goes with the territory. You've got to win consistently to keep it from happening. I do know what we do is well thought out."
On if he would ever hire a coach/general manager type: "No ... I don't have anything I don't manage. I just don't."
amazing that people still defend Jerry.AmericasTeam31;2996221 said::laugh2: My point was that Jerry is not credited for any of his personell decisions. It's all given to Parcells and Ireland. How much depth did we have when they were here? Or when they left?
I'm sure that there are more out there than you'd realize... And i'm not suggesting that is a good thing but draft status is irrelevant when the game is played.
How many teams have spent the world and sold their soul to draft a QB in the first round and regretted it horribly? Once again draft status is irrelevant when the game begins... just ask Favre, or Warner, or Brady... none of them were drafted in the first two rounds, but all of them have a super bowl ring!

3 superbowl rings, new amazing stadium and a passionate owner willing to spend money............yeah horrible.
Show me all the owners who have won 3 SB's in 20 years and provided their team with the luxuries the Cowboys have.........
Sure we are in a drought, it kills me just as much as it kills you but it's not like the guy feels any better about it then we do and I'm pretty sure if he could change it tomorrow no matter the cost he would.

Bach;2996250 said:My point is people want to credit Jerry for decisions others made. Some try to credit Jerry for Jimmy's decisions. And now people are trying to credit him for decisions made by Parcells. And do you think Jerry was the primary personnel decision maker then? I take it Jerry brought in all those former Patriot and Jets players that played for Parcells? Parcells is the one guy since Jimmy left that Jerry gave personnel power to. When BP left Jerry took it back.
And I'm not saying we never had any good picks by Jerry. Also, draft status doesn't guarantee anything, I know. But to think you have a better chance with undrafted players than guys taken high in the draft is laughable. No doubt some high picks don't pan out and some undrafted ones do, but that's not the general case.
The point being we'd have a far better chance at having a good WR corp if we had spent some top draft choices there through the years. Guess who the last WR we took in the first round was? Alvin Harper all the way back in the early '90's.
I know the excuse though, if a QB is taken high and doesn't pan out it could set the franchise back several years. But just look around at where we're at by now by trying to rely on journeymen, scrubs and undrafted free agents.
Bottomline is Jerry has screwed the pooch more often than not with his personnel decisions, coaching hires and hands-on interference over the last decade and a half.

That being said, the talent is here for this team to win. For some reason, we play like a dumb football team. We had the same issues when Parcells was here as well. Sooner or later, the players have to quit making stupid mistakes.
On if he would ever hire a coach/general manager type: "No ... I don't have anything I don't manage. I just don't."
If Romo doesn't screw up and drop the hold for a freaking fg he woulda atleast won a playoff game here.AmericasTeam31;2996263 said:And what did all of Parcells personell moves AND COACHING get us in this decade? Parcells IS/WAS the king of the journeymen! He takes the same players from place to place. Bottom line is that even with Parcells "great" personell choices we still did nothing with it when he was here either! SO how does that make him any better of a decision maker?
Double Trouble;2996108 said:. . . As long as people keep showing up at the stadium, he'll have little incentive to change. . .

wileedog;2996276 said:Look at the 2002 Roster and look at the 2006 roster and ask yourself that question again.
Its not about individual personnel decisions either, Parcells re-tooled the whole organization and scouting system and the input that got to the top. Look at how this team drafted for YEARS before Parcells came and put his stamp on this organization.
We can nitpick about the Bobby Carpenters and Vinny's all day, but this was a better run football team with Bill in charge.
And now its sliding inexorably back to Jerryworld. We're coming home 2002!
