Larry Allen and Darren Woodson should go in together. They were both drafted the same year weren't they? Too Tall Jones should and Drew Pearson should have been in a long time ago. Still don't get why Drew Pearson is over looked so much.

Or Too Tall, Harvey Martin, etc.?

The average football fan has never heard of Don Perkins but he was a HUGE part of our early teams and is in the RoH.
If there are Cowboys fans who haven't heard of Larry Allen they need to volunteer to for the dunk tank and give me a lot of baseballs.

Woodson in 1992 and Allen in 1994.

Drafted together shouldn't matter though. Troy, Michael, and Emmitt weren't drafted together either.

I understand that Jerry wants to keep the RoH an exclusive group but there are several players who are well deserving of this honor and well overdue for recognition by the team (years and pro bowls are with the Cowboys only:

In no particular order:
Cornell Green - 13 years, 5 pro Bowls
Jay Novacek - 7 years, 5 pro bowls
Ed "Too Tall" Jones - 15 years, 3 pro bowls
Harvey Martin - 11 years, 4 pro bowls
George Andre - 11 years, 5 pro bowls
Charlie Waters - 11 years, 3 pro bowls
Everson Walls - 9 years, 4 pro bowls
Darren Woodson - 12 years, 5 pro bowls
Larry Allen - 12 years, 10 pro bowls
Drew Pearson - 11 years, 3 pro bowls
Nate Newton - 13 years, 6 pro bowls
Mark Tuinei - 15 years, 2 pro bowls
John Niland - 9 years, 7 pro bowls
Pat Donovan - 9 years, 4 pro bowls
Herb Scott - 10 years, 3 pro bowls
Tony Hill - 10 years, 3 pro bowls

That list doesn't include guys who made huge contributions to the success of the Cowboys over the years like:
Jethro Pugh, Larry Cole, Tony Tolbert, Jerry Tubbs, Dave Edwards, D.D. Lewis, Bob Breunig, Bill Bates, Daryl Johnston, Mark Stepnoski, Danny White, Frank Clarke, Billy Joe DuPree, Dave Manders, Tom Rafferty, Blaine Nye, & Dennis Thurman.

There are others who were great players and helped us to win championships or big games but whom I don't really consider Cowboys because most of their careers were with other teams:
Lance Alworth, Herb Adderley, Mike Ditka, Charles Haley, Deion Sanders, Ken Norton, & Kevin Gogan.

I know I am missing a few guys who also deserve consideration. Hopefully, Jerry will induct a lot more players once we are in the new stadium.

You can't put all these in the ROH. I do think that guys that played a long time with the Cowboys and were primarily Cowboys should get the first looks. I'm not sure I would put Ditka, Sanders, Haley, Norton in because some of their best years were with other teams ore they are known with other teams. That would be like putting Tommy McDonald in as a Cowboy when he played like half a year. He's always going to be remembered as an Eagle great.

From that list here's the guys you mentioned that should be in the ROH

Jay Novacek - 7 years, 5 pro bowls
Ed "Too Tall" Jones - 15 years, 3 pro bowls
Harvey Martin - 11 years, 4 pro bowls
Darren Woodson - 12 years, 5 pro bowls
Larry Allen - 12 years, 10 pro bowls
Drew Pearson - 11 years, 3 pro bowls

MAYBE
Everson Walls - 9 years, 4 pro bowls
Then Moose Johnston. He was a big time fan favorite.

I think that's really it right now.

I quite agree, I wouldn't put them in either as they weren't really Cowboys IMO, just guys who played for us for a few years. I only brought them up because others would probably suggest them and I don't think they should be included.

I think Everson Walls deserves to be in the ROH more than Jay Novacek.

Larry Allen should be a no brainer, arguably the best Olinemen to ever play the game. He should be a no brainer in my opinion.

No one will ever touch 23 sacks in one year in Dallas IMO. Harvey didn't even do that playing 16 games.......he is SEVERELY underrated as a passrusher by many. He was as good as Charles Haley from a pure rushing the passer standpoint and just as mean..........RIP Harvey Martin...
that was a year before rule changes. when defenses dominated

Larry Allen will get in. His name should not even be mentioned in this thread.

Future HOF + Jerry Jones Cowboy = Future ROH inductee

That's exactly my point. I believe the ROH should be reserved for players the general public, not Cowboys fans, consider synonymouus with the team.

So you don't think the general public knows about Larry Allen?

Interesting, seeing as how in every telecast for every game he had with the 'boys (not sure about SF), Larry Allen is mentioned as a future HOFer.

Sometimes Jerry talks a big game about the things that embody the tradition and true meaning of the Cowboy mantra.

This is not one of those times.

Well then noone gets in, because the general public doesn't have a clue about Dallas Cowboy football.

So I'm supposin' you mean the general public=football fans, to which I say, why would I care what a Commander's fan would think on who should be in a Cowboy ROH?

It's a Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor, but it shouldn't cater to Cowboys fans?

Drew is the most glaring omission at the moment. You make the NFL's "All-70's" team but not your own club's ROH? Curious.

I could give a flying fig about the casual fans not knowing who Rayfield Wright is.

In this day and age of Madden if a casual fan doesn't know who Larry Allen is they should just admit to being pure stupid and not pro-create.

That's what the NFL Hall of Fame is for. The Dallas Cowboys Ring of Honor is for Cowboys players that the Cowboys fans loved to watch.

Who gives a damn what fans of other teams like or don't like?

As I said, no one outside of longtime Cowboys fans know who Don Perkins was and people only know Don Meredith from MNF and Lipton commercials. That in no way should diminish the contribution those players made to the team or to the Cowboys fans.
