Wow, all this judgment from a rookie's first preseason game.

I think it's a good sign that someone with a sometimes-questionable attitude mans up and admits that he has a long way to go. At least his comments imply that he wants to do much better.

I could live with the miscues if I saw an enormously high ceiling. What bothers me is that for a guy of all his supposed freakish athletic ability, I haven't really seen it translate to the field --- at A&M or in this preseason game. And based on training camp reports, it doesn't seem like he's wowing out there either.

He was billed as a huge, monstrous red zone threat that has a basketball background and can jump through the gym. Granted, it's early, but I haven't seen/read any of that translating just yet. It'd be nice to see a glimpse or two at some point.

I try not to dog this guy too much since I'm a Horn fan so I'm bias but a couple aggie students that work for me had classes with this guy and said he was a major turd that was always disturbing class with his mouth like he was still in junior high. The young man just needs to grow up first.

Help me out here, we trade a TE we drafted in the second round, for a fourth round pick. Then, we use a second round pick, to fill that backup TE spot, that we just traded away, and we select a "project" to fill the slot of a guy who could at least start if needed.

It was coincidence that we drafted a TE. We thought Bennett was the best player at that spot -- that simple.

And Fasano had proved that he was a big bag of nothing, and with a bum shoulder to boot. Should we have kept him another year or two, let him go in free agency, and got nothing for him? Bennett at least has a big upside.

What's funny is that during Hard Knocks, there was a part where the coaches were getting on him, telling him to tuck the ball away correctly even though the play was over and they were walking back to where everyone else and Benneette just looked annoyed, like "Why are you getting on me now? I already did the drill." only to have it come back and bite him.

At least he's honest. Load of talent, but he's got a LONG way to go.

He will be OK. Some are down on him and for whatever reasons will not give him a chance.

He is a rookie, with loads of physical ability. Based solely on that he has a very bright future and I am looking forward to seeing him blossom.

At least in the DMN blog article, he manned up and admitted he played like crap. So maybe the next time in practice & Garrett tells him something, he gets off his butt and does it. Will be interesting to see if/when his attitude change starts. BTW: I think we drafted him as BPA cause they see another Antonio Gates in him but w/o Gates great speed.

Bennett, nothing more than a raw athletic freak. Even though my hating on him is a bit premature, we really have to wait 3-4 years for this guy to develop, which isn't something a Superbowl "contender" can be doing.

Oh please. Every GM has bad draft picks. Even Parcells, who brilliantly rebuilt this organization, whiffed BADLY on a handful of players (Rogers, Peterman, that PR from LSU, Carpenter, Fasano).

Even if Bennett is the worst TE to ever play the game, Jerry's recent drafts are far, FAR better than those we saw from 1995-2001.
