No one expected Martellus to come in and tear up at the TE position right? We do have Jason "best TE in the NFL" Witten still on the roster.

That's ok Martellus.

A lesson learned. Concentrate and give 100% and you will be alright.

Wow, all this judgment from a rookie's first preseason game.

I think it's a good sign that someone with a sometimes-questionable attitude mans up and admits that he has a long way to go. At least his comments imply that he wants to do much better.

Yeah I agree

Recognition is the first step, now let's hope this young man can learn the physical/mental parts along with the sacrificies needed at this next level.

That's right Tellus, all we want is 100% effort; never mind 110% or 120% or heaven sakes 150% , no way.....that is way too much---probably want to renegotiate..:D

What is it with that? The OVER 100% effort thing....is that the 'roids factor kicking in?

Maybe his dog was trying to tell him something in that Hard Knocks episode.

Where are these posters coming from?

Lots of NooBs bashing players. And the poster who said "I've hated Bennett since high school" - just please stop posting, OK?

Yhea, I read that as well. :laugh2:

Fans have to remember this is a rookie playing in his 1st game. His first meaninful snaps.

And he goes up against Phillips of SD. Of course, you'd expect him to have a bit of trouble the first time around, no?

He drops one pass because he doesn't tuck away the ball fast enough. He'll learn . . . .

"High & tight Martellus, high & tight."

Until he takes that lesson to heart, Bennett should be battling w/Rodney Hannah for 3rd TE reps. Curtis is way ahead of him, with his work ethic, rightly so.

Well put, CL. I don't think Bennett is as bad as people make him out to be. He's young and stubborn based on what Hard Knocks chose to show us, but he has owned up to his mistakes in the game. That is a real good sign.

I hope you're right but when card carrying members of the Texags forum are glad he left school I have my doubts.

I am, of course, pulling for Bennett to have a great year and career.

However, drafting him in Rd 2 really surprised me. At that point I thought the value was at WR. With Witten and Curtis, it just seemed we didn't need to use that high of a pick for Bennett. Having said that, the draft is long over now and it's time to pull for our guy.

At least he manned up and admitted the obvious. Hopefully he'll be great someday.

What's funny is that during Hard Knocks, there was a part where the coaches were getting on him, telling him to tuck the ball away correctly even though the play was over and they were walking back to where everyone else and Benneette just looked annoyed, like "Why are you getting on me now? I already did the drill." only to have it come back and bite him.

My thought exactly. Now he knows why the coach was telling him to tuck it away.
