I wonder if they could do their stretching to get all lossened up before the game? We could send the cheerleaders to the hotel of the visiting team, the NIGHT BEFORE THE GAME, so they could stretch out dancing on top of the hotel bar perhaps? (wink)

The larger issue, for me, is the message it sends to kids...You go to a football game, and there are children there...Little girls seeing that it's 'ok' to use your body to gain attention and money because you're a woman while it has nothing to do with the game at hand...It's oxymoronic at the very best and awfully sexist at the very least.

Makes people think that women are a piece of meat...I don't see it that way.
It's up to their parents to teach them to value themselves.

Ultimately, I don't think seeing a cheerleader is going to make an ounce of difference either way. A parent's responsibility is to provide explanations and context for the things their children see, and shield them from things that are inappropriate. If a parent feels their child shouldn't see that, they are free to keep them from watching.

If, OTOH, a parent feels they've given their child enough of background in respecting women, and respecting themselves, then they're free to allow their children to watch, confident that a sensual image of a woman waving pom-poms isn't going to ruin their child's self-respect for their lifetime.

Personally, I completely agree with this point of view. I would hope that my daughter would have higher aspirations than being a cheerleader for an NFL team.

I do security for the Cardinals and am on the field during cheerleader warmups. I can see how it could be distracting. The stretches that they do are GREAT!! Not much left to the old imagination.;)

NFL cheerleading is just a hobby to these women. They all have careers or are going to school in pursuit of them. It's a choice every young woman faces whether they're an NFL cheeleader or not: Will you or won't behave like a sex object. Personally, I view the Cowboys Cheerleaders as more classy than some of the other squads. They seem to be a more family oriented organization, trying to appeal to men, women and children. Whereas some other squads, say the Eagles or Raiders, seem to be more adult oriented, trying to appeal to the stereotypical dirty old man.

I like the Panther's cheerleaders...they like to do kinky stuff to each other in the restroom...! Now, that is a real woman!!

Absolute greatest NFL note of the weekend

CBS NFL insider Charley Casserly offered this gem on Sunday.
"Thursday night, a memo went out to all 32 teams which said, no longer will the cheerleaders be allowed to warm up in front of the visiting team locker room or do their stretching in front of the visiting team locker room or they can't go in the tunnel anymore. The reason – some players felt they were being a little distracted."

this thread needs some serious cheerleader pics.

And our cheerleaders will suck now until they get rid of that **** who runs them. She tells the hottest ones that they are too fat, lol.

But it is okay for women to use their body to gain attention and money.

News flash...women have been doing this for thousands of years and will continue to do it long after we are all dead. It is part and parcel to the human condition and you WILL NOT change it no matter how much you preach. Time to get over yourself and enjoy the view ;)

File this in the "my morals are better than yours, so let's alter society to fit my personal definition of morality" folder.

Move along folks, nothin' to see here.
