Roy Williams has complained that the media blames him for mistakes that weren't his fault because we don't understand defensive schemes. He didn't make himself available last night or this morning to explain his role in the Cowboys' defensive disaster.
Wade Phillips said he was disappointed that there were several blown coverage assignments, but he declined to go into detail about who screwed up.
Phillips was asked to evaluate Roy Williams' performance in the game.
"You're not going to get me to comment on my players and say, 'This guy played bad,'" Phillips said.
Uh, Wade, you just did.

I'm just thrilled that for once the media actually tried to find out who was really at fault instead of guessing. Like I said, as is, it's still not total confirmation, but it does give us something closer to confirmation.

Agreed. I actually suspect that's part of the reason Wade doesn't want to go into it. Much like Roy sometimes does, what's the point of throwing everyone under the bus - especially after you won. Just work at it and get better.

It's really time to put up or shut up for Roy. He has been criticized for most of his career, some of it I believe undeserved, but there's no denying he's been bad going back to the end of last season.

If he's really a Pro Bowler, he'll step up and prove that it was just a bad stretch, and this isn't the player he really is. If I had people on my back like that, I'd take it as a personal challenge to shut em up. If he can't do that, I have serious doubts as to how much pride he has in what he does.
