Roy just admit that you are not that good at covering and things will take it's place. Stop blaming and avoiding, just admit it.

It's not just that... He doesn't show any fire anymore.. The guy USE to make Shockey urinate in his own pants and drop balls on clutch situations... Now, Plaxico, that twig, is talking smack and Roy doesn't even signal in on Plaxico to punish him... I have no idea what happened to him..

Roy running away from the big bad media after a poor performance? No big surprise, infact this is par for the course. Great leadership.

He is embarassing really. It's funny how the guy seems to run everytime he has a bad game, but front and centre when he does anything half-decent. The guy is a joke and one of the poorest "leaders" I have seen in a long time....I just think the team would be light years better with Hamlin at strong safety and a young player with a good pedigree who possess' quickness and smarts manning the free safety position instead. If I were Ireland/Jones I would seriously think about taking a free safety in the first three rounds next offseason and letting Brown, Watkins and the pick compete for the position and let this ****** bag go.

Just thinking out loud here (I know, you can't hear me...). But what if Roy's gotten tentative because he's essentially been neutered by the league. Horse-collar rule, helmet to helmet hits, etc. It's been a while since I've just seen him blow somebody up. Think he's worried about drawing flags for this type of stuff? Just a thought.

To be fair Roy doesnt do media after a good performance either
No, I just think that RW should be the leader of the defense, but instead he's one of its weakest links.

He's a veteran, former pro-bowler, a high draft pick, and with Ellis out, he's the longest-lived member of the Dallas defense. There's also a lot of #31 jerseys in the stands. He's the higest profile member of a unit that completely embarrassed itself last night. He should be the leader of the defense, but instead, he hides from the media, points the finger at his teammates when something goes wrong, and has generally been awful for quite a while now.

I don't know what it is, but he just doesn't seem to have his heart in the game anymore.

Well put, I concur...It's easy to take swipes at Roy if for no other reason that he seems to invariably end up on the receiving end of far too many highlights of opposing WRs scoring TDs...Still, he's supposed to be the leader of the defense, a game changer and I have never seen him really settle in as a legitimate safety back there since Darren Woodson retired...The guy is a liability and that's not exactly the kind of game changing you want on YOUR side of the ball.

Listening to Dallas sports radio today you would think the defense played well except for Williams
If you read the board, you'd think that, too. There are multiple threads about how bad Roy played (deservedly so), but very few about the defense, as a whole, not playing up to it's supposed level.

Roy hasn't said a word, one way or the other. So how can you say he's blaming anyone. I think this is just special thinking.

If Roy came out, fell on the sword to the media, it wouldn't change your opinion one bit about him. What's the point?

Wow, all this hate after a win no less.

I love how the media can twist how the interview went even. JFE went into this whole thing several times about the td and poor coverages specifically trying to get him to call out Williams. The first time she asks, Wade says with Williams in the game, they couldn't rush on us, etc.

Then she asks him to comment on the blown play and says 'Williams always tells the media we don't know the scheme or who's at fault' and Wade says 'You guys don't know what you are talking about' and goes on saying he's not going to say anything bad about any of his players, that it's none of the media's business.

So now he's basically telling the media that he isn't going to call out a player no matter how many times they twist their questions and then the media can twist his words thinking he called out Williams.

He's never actually pointed a finger at teammates, BTW. Just said there are assumptions about coverages that people attribute to him when, in actuality, it was not his fault.

That said, he didn't play well last night. But if he took questions from the media afterward, that wouldn't make him anymore of a leader in my eyes than he was before the game. He's not a team leader and people need to stop thinking he will ever be a team leader. He's a guy who just wants to go out and play. Period.

Sean Salisbury on ESPN Radio:

"If I was putting together a defense, I'd put a plan together to attack (Roy) every way possible. Because he can't cover you (John Siebel)."

"If I was playing Dallas, I'd throw it 40 times."

I don't know...

I just watched some of his older highlights, even when he was in Oklahoma, and the guy could cover the field. He blanketed receivers... He was a clutch tackler in the open field, and many of his tackles were well within NFL rules... I mean he would touch guys and they fell... the guy is hard as a rock..

You can't be that talented and just forget how to play... it's gotta be something mental, but I don't see it as being neutered by he league...

This is possible, but I think he may have developed some sort of fear of contact. The rules you mention are a fact, but I have noticed something more disturbing lately and that is Roys transformation into an ankle tackler. He shouldn't be going for the barrel roll routine against some scrub 3rd string runningback.

He used to hit people and make sure, solid tackles. Now, he is just a mess.

I agree... He never really has pointed a finger at teammates. And I think people should distinguish between Roy as a guy who makes plays that fire up a team and Roy as a leader.

He can be an IMPACT player, but that is different than being a leader. I think Roy prefers that.

I just wanna see the old Roy, the Roy that made players look over their shoulder and drop passes because they think Roy is somewhere in the vicinity...

Hmm, when things were going well last year -- right when he was leading the league in turnovers -- he made a point to say to the media "who says I can't cover"

Pop in last night's game, and fast-forward to 13:33 of the fourth quarter, when the Giants had third-and-10 from our 11-yard line.
