This may be an over the top examble but it is kind of like the guy that is always the class clown. Always joking around and then all of the sudden he tries to become serious and nobody takes him seriously.
Wade Phillips has his own Coaching Style and it would be crazy for him to try to become somebody he isn't.
The Coaches, Players and Wade Phillips himself would know that this isn't him and nobody would respect him, not even himself.
sacase;2537070 said:Maybe the answer isn't that WP needs to change, if he brings in some "tough" coaches who hold players responsible then he can change the culture without changing himself. I expect a lot of assistants to be gone soon.

Doomsday101;2537081 said:I disagree if he has the backing of Jones and is willing to take action against the player then the player has no choice and as other players see that then they have no choice but to buy into it or leave. If I bench you then you are benched believe it or not. Wade does not have to change as a person only has to hold these players accountable for their actions you can be a nice person and still demand performance out of your players. Will he do that? Let’s see because the bottom line is Jerry is not planning on firing him.

Wade Phillips isn't exactly a spring chicken. The guy is who he is at this point, he isn't changing and if he tries to, players will lose even more respect for him because it isnt him and it would be nothing but a fraud.
So the question is, if Jerry Jones is willing to back a new and improved albeit fraudulent Wade Phillips, why doesn't he just go out and hire a Coach that is known for being a tough disciplinarian.
Don't fall for the trap man.
They will offer up Brian Stewart and Bruce Read's head and then claim they have fixed things.
I loved how Wade Phillips always scoffed at the media and tried to act like the media was foolish for questioning his coaching style and the media turned out to be right, his way isn't the right way and Wade Phillips all but admitted it.
Doomsday101;2537124 said:That does not make him a fraud. He has treated these players like men they did not respond to being treated like men so he will try a different approach with them. He would not be changing who he is only how he deals with players as well as how he conducts practice and training camp. In the end it comes down to Jerry supporting Wade or not, if players are allowed to go over Wade head then that is a problem if Jerry supports him then the players have little choice.

Given the team's lackluster performance, you would expect a self-appointed leader like James to endorse any changes designed to improve the team. I guess that's asking too much.
Maikeru-sama;2537142 said:So he is just now realizing these guys need to be kicked in the rear?
The players are just going to laugh at Wade Phillips and Jerry Jones will definately not lay the smack down.
The players would view Wade Phillips as a fraud and trying to change his very nature and how he deals with players.
He would be a total fraud if he changed his approach.
