Maybe the answer isn't that WP needs to change, if he brings in some "tough" coaches who hold players responsible then he can change the culture without changing himself. I expect a lot of assistants to be gone soon.

Not really.

This may be an over the top examble but it is kind of like the guy that is always the class clown. Always joking around and then all of the sudden he tries to become serious and nobody takes him seriously.

Wade Phillips has his own Coaching Style and it would be crazy for him to try to become somebody he isn't.

The Coaches, Players and Wade Phillips himself would know that this isn't him and nobody would respect him, not even himself.

I disagree if he has the backing of Jones and is willing to take action against the player then the player has no choice and as other players see that then they have no choice but to buy into it or leave. If I bench you then you are benched believe it or not. Wade does not have to change as a person only has to hold these players accountable for their actions you can be a nice person and still demand performance out of your players. Will he do that? Let’s see because the bottom line is Jerry is not planning on firing him.

Interesting. I don't think, in fact I know he wasn't talking about changing his personality, cause he said that in the PC, but changing how he approaches things and how he reacts to things like the mental errors and the turnovers.

If I heard him correctly I could have swore something was mentioned about potentially fining guys for mental errors like illegal motions and things like that which shouldn't be happening anymore after the first week or two of the season.

I don't know. We'll see I suppose. He did say that him resigning wasn't an option cause he simply wasn't going to quit on himself or the team like that.

That would be a viable plan...I remember Lombardi telling his replacement (also a softie) to at least get an assistant to be the hard *** if he couldn't...but I believe Jerry has said no coaching changes, including the assistants?

I do think it works better if it's coming from the head guy, though.

We will have to disagree.

Wade Phillips isn't exactly a spring chicken. The guy is who he is at this point, he isn't changing and if he tries to, players will lose even more respect for him because it isnt him and it would be nothing but a fraud.

So the question is, if Jerry Jones is willing to back a new and improved albeit fraudulent Wade Phillips, why doesn't he just go out and hire a Coach that is known for being a tough disciplinarian.

Don't fall for the trap man.

They will offer up Brian Stewart and Bruce Read's head and then claim they have fixed things.

I loved how Wade Phillips always scoffed at the media and tried to act like the media was foolish for questioning his coaching style and the media turned out to be right, his way isn't the right way and Wade Phillips all but admitted it.

No one will take Wade seriously. The players will just do what they did this season. Refuse to play.

Jerry you have a billion dollar disaster on your hands. Good luck!

That does not make him a fraud. He has treated these players like men they did not respond to being treated like men so he will try a different approach with them. He would not be changing who he is only how he deals with players as well as how he conducts practice and training camp. In the end it comes down to Jerry supporting Wade or not, if players are allowed to go over Wade head then that is a problem if Jerry supports him then the players have little choice.

I think Bradie's response is more indicative of the type of mentality that the organization needs to combat. Given the team's lackluster performance, you would expect a self-appointed leader like James to endorse any changes designed to improve the team. I guess that's asking too much.

So he is just now realizing these guys need to be kicked in the rear?

The players are just going to laugh at Wade Phillips and Jerry Jones will definately not lay the smack down.

The players would view Wade Phillips as a fraud and trying to change his very nature and how he deals with players.

He would be a total fraud if he changed his approach.

QFT

They don't fear Wade Phillips and you can tell from Bradie James' comments that he would even view it as a joke if Wade Phillips changed his style.

They will laugh? Please give me a break Jones owns the team he pays them and can release player and allow the coach to bench who ever. I also think Wade will have support from some players like Witten. Player can view him anyway they want but as long as Jones is behind Wade they don't have a say so in the matter their butt belongs to the Cowboys as long as they are getting a check. Again will this happen we will find out but I would not be suprised to see Jerry demanding more out of these players thus backing his HC

I don't blame James for being skeptical that Wade is going to change his style at his age, in any significant way. Maybe James shouldn't have said that, BUT I don't blame him for thinking it. I think James is the type that likes the heavier hand and expectations.

Maybe he is talking about switching from weight watchers to Jenny Craig.

Of course I say that in jest but it would seem to hold about the same amount of credibility considering how this team has performed down the stretch the last few seasons.

Just can't picture someone being a big softy all of a sudden turning into a disciplinarian and the players buying it.

If you don't buy it, you don't play, and the less your play the less credibility you have among teammates. I hope way of thinking is part of Wade's new battitude.

Yeah Bradie SHOULD shut his mouth, but........"I just don't know" yeah, he knows and so do the other undisciplined clowns on this team. I think Bradie had a good year, but..................It's just one last Dumb and undisciplined statement from a member of this "team" Nothing new. And the other posters in this thread are 100% right: why will next year change with Cupcake being a lame duck? We all know it won't but unfortunately JJ doesn't.

Wade is a joke in the eyes of this team do you really think Romo would have had the balls to call of the punt team on that 4th down if lets say Fisher was on that sideline?

Wade is inn way over his head he can't do this job it's pretty damn obvious at this point that he has no control over this team and if he tries to be a hardass after all the hugs he's been handing out it's not going to have a positive effect on the players.

do us all a favor and step down tubby, pleas. It's bad enough that you've ruined 1 season but you're well on your way to doing it to next season as well and we're not even 24 hours into the offseason :bang2:
