Wade Phillips declared that things will be different around Valley Ranch next season.

"You can't just say everything is going to be all right," said Phillips, who has taken a pollyanna approach in the past. "But it's not going to be all right if we just keep doing the same things. And I'm talking about myself."

He'll come up with a plan over the next week or so, and the admitted softie vowed that he'd be more demanding. He recognizes that the relaxed atmosphere around these parts didn't produce acceptable results.

"It starts with me," said Phillips, who declined to discuss potential personnel changes but said offensive coordinator Jason Garrett and defensive coordinator Brian Stewart would return. "If you're not going to change the coach and you don't get the results you want, then the coach needs to change some things. I have to look at myself first - from how I deal with things, from how we have training camp, how we have practices, whatever. We need to alter some things. We need to adjust some things."

Phillips didn't meet with the Cowboys today, so the players will have to get his get-tough message through the media for now. At least one team captain was skeptical about it.

"If you know a person to be a certain way and then all of the sudden, you have an extreme change, I don't know," LB Bradie James said. "I don't know how well that's going to be taken. I don't know what he means by that. But he didn't address us, so I don't know."

That last statement is very very very telling of that the mindset of these players would be if this coach sticks around....So i guess next year 7-9?? in a new stadium???

this is ridiculous jerry that your gonna stick with this staff....

BJ's comments is exactly what the problem is. "He doesn't know how well the changes will be taken". The team doesn't have a choice in the changes, the HC lays out the demands and the players are to follow them and disciplined if they don't. It's just that simple and its been that way on any team I've ever played on...

This team has an explosive personality or two on it. Change might not be welcome. Change just might light the fuse.

Is Dalrymple still the Cowboys PR guy? If so, he needs to train these players on what to say and not to say to the media. Between Romo's post game comments, and these comments from Bradie James, I wonder.

There are obviously guys on this team that do not and will not buy into anything Dallas needs to do to get better and change the culture. Light the fuse and get those people out!

I doubt WP is saying the dominos, load music, and nap time will be banned from the locker room until further notice. What I think he is saying is that work habits will change.

I wouldn't mind more hitting in training camp and during the season. I always thought it was funny that the players would say they had a good we of practice. How would they know if they didn't go full-speed and in pads?

If you don't go 100% in practice then how do you know if you'll be able to do in in real time during a game?

Wade's going to suddenly change? That's great, 'cause players love playing for a phony.

Wow, Jerry Jones has a real problem on his hands, and I'm glad he's looking like a complete idiot. You had Jimmy Johnson and let your ego get in the way of what was shaping up to be the best dynasty in NFL history... Now you think you're a GM, look at this mess you've created, haa haa haa!

Okay. This pisses me off.

If one of your strongest lockerroom leaders takes the stance that philosophical team changes are only acceptable if the players agree with them, their stance is very likely the same as that of a percentage of their fellow teammates.

Therefore, the head coach is no longer the overseer of the team. He is a lame duck coach by his very own players' standards.

I was wrong in once thinking that the team had adopted their head coach's Camp Marshmallow mentality. It's worse than that. There is an inner gang of individuals pretending to be Dallas Cowboys players.

Phillips needs to go.

Any player that feels the same way as Bradie James should follow him out the door.

It's pathetic. Head coaches can respect their players and at the same time, demand the best out of them. It's much simplier for the players, regardless of their payscales...

Shut up and do your damnest to play your position as well (or better) as humanly possible.

There are coaches and players alike who need freaking enemas! Is Bradie James & Co. a true representation of post-salary cap era NFL players? WINNING FOOTBALL IS ALL ABOUT T-E-A-M! If you're a quality player, you should do your job and love it. The benefits of winning as a team outweigh those of your whining. My goodness!

I agree. I would love for Wade to tell the players that change is coming, meaning players will be working harder. And if they don't like it, there is the door.
