Interesting stuff.
Im optimistic/hopeful about the draft.

As for Tony..yes, despite a few rough games, he drug a couple of those 4 win teams kicking and screaming to 8-8. The other 5 seasons he was the starter, the team had winning records.
Never a losing season as the main starter.

Now its Dak's turn.

Those are literally all backups we haven't had injury luck like last season in a decade it was amazing. It was a charmed season. Probably could've won it all if Rodgers didn't complete a 4th and 26 with 2 seconds left

Romo, Dez, the corners, Collins, DLaw, and Church were not backups. Swaim did start some games in 2TE sets. All of them played or would have played significant roles on offense/defense. I didn't bring up guys like Nzeocha and Wilson who were also hurt.

Missing 10 games of your starting QB, 14 games of your LG, 3 games of your WR1, 4 games of your SS, 8 games of CB2, 6 games of RDE, 7 games of TE2, etc is not an outlier.

Being able to overcome it was all about depth on the roster and superb drafting.

You can draft to fix the secondary. You can draft to fix the pass rush. You don't have enough meaningful picks to do both by drafting at the END of every round.

Dallas only has 3 picks in the top 120.

Reminds me of the mindset going into 2015. And we all know how that one turned out.

A lot of the writers who cover the Cowboys seem able to get overconfident and arrogant in a hurry and forget the team falling on it's face all too quickly. Nick Eatman sounded particularly nasty when he called all of the departed guys JAG's. The same guy who just weeks before was building them all up to #FINISHTHISFIGHT

Pretty hypocritical.

I don't understand trying to completely rebuild the secondary a year removed from nearly being in the conference championship. Possibly three years down the drain ala the O-line rebuild.

All those 8-8 years were 10-12 win seasons without the Cowboys patented mistakes.

I thought our secondary was better than most. Not in take always but considering the pass rush I thought they played ok and I thought we would keep one or two
But this is the draft to rebuild the secondary with younger and cheaper players. And you never know when you might hit on a star, but if you get comparable to what you lost you at least got it cheaper and younger
My guess is that's what the FO was thinking too

Expecting multiple rookie corners to come in and play at a starting level is foolish.
You don't need multiple corners to come in and play at a starting level. We have starting cb's, what we need is a safety and at least one cb who can contribute and develope into a starter

I think Rod has a lot to do with our secondary leaving. None signed for that much more than we were paying them. After doing a great job getting Byron and Brown I think Rod has looked at the draft and likes what he sees more than what he had.

good read on Romo but if we were so enamored with him wonder why didnt we take him with one of our 3 7th rounders. We were a little lucky he didnt get a better offer or sign with someone else.

To everyone including Broaddus saying we will be fine..This draft is deep in DBs..We have 1 pick per round. We aren't getting 4 day one starting DBs out of the draft..And that's what we let walk. Not signing Mo back for what he got in his one year deal is insane. Wilcox too for what he was paid imo, bit definitely Mo.

Our starting CBs are questionable at best.

You've temporarily lost your mind:lmao2:

There's maybe 3 people on the planet that buy that total crock.
One of those teams had the 32 RANKED DEFENSE.
On what planet would that EVER mean 10-12 wins
Good lord....absolute short bus championship comment there by you.
Congrats.
:lmao2:

Notice I criticized the comment and not the person.:)

Btw, nobody would deny there were bad games in there by the offense and Tony. No doubt.
But they absolutely carried those teams to 8 wins with FAR more good play than bad.

Sure you do... 1 pick for a corner, 1 pick for a safety and 1 pick for a WDE... Not necessarily in that order.
