“so there was some rust I had to knock off and I felt all right the first time out. Every day is an opportunity. Just think about going out and being the best you can be.”

One has to read that in your best Eeyore voice to understand it...............

I still can't believe that the Cowboys spent 5M per on Doug Free. He should be getting the veteran's minimum like Nick Hayden.

It is post like this which makes it hard for people to see through your Free hate to legit limitations you mention in regards to him.

We have Collin's that destroyed people in the game. Yet he's saying he is still has a long ways to go and he's not there yet. Then we have Weems saying he did okay and we practically all know he was God awful. I think Weems needs a few lessons from Collins in humility. I'm also all for Collin's possibly being RT. There is no ways you keep the type of talent Collins has on the bench.

Weems has some talent as well as grit. I'm believing he can use both to become a strong offensive tackle for the Cowboys. He won't push Smith any time soon, but he does have a strong upside in the Dallas line. If he is a success in Dallas, he will do it sooner than later.

Yeah, it'd be great if he could play, but I sure haven't seen anything from him that would make me hopeful yet.

The only hope that there is is that Ron Leary in his first year was absolutely horrific in preseason games.

One year later, he was a completely different guy. Hopefully, Weems' adaptation is a little quicker.

It's rusted all the way through the frame on that one, I think. Broaddus is off if he thinks it was just laziness on the hold and kicking out too far on the one pass rush. I don't think Weems can play.

Have you ever watched other teams swing OTs?

Can anyone (other than an NFL scout or GM) name another team's swing tackle or backup tackle (without the help of a search engine)?

If the Cowboys were to cut Weems today, I would guess at least 20 teams would put a waiver claim in for him.

My memory is a little fuzzy, but didn't Parnell struggle a little/lot in preseason last year?

I think Weems will play a lot better next game. If not, the Cowboys have some options. I think we will see Collins also practice some at RT/LT for two reasons. 1) In case Weems does not get better and 2) Because I think Collins may be better than Free right now.

He obviously needs more game reps, a lot more. The good thing is he should play almost all of the preseason snaps.

I would still prefer a better option to compete with him than Wetzel or Dill. One of Collins or Martin should take some snaps at OT just in case.

I would go ahead and move Collins out. The first preseason game showed me that he can handle the guard spot in a pinch. Let's prepare him to handle the tackle spots if we need him there. Based on the OTAs, right tackle is where he needs the most work to be ready to step in. It's also where he's most likely to be needed this year with Free's age and health.

Weems needs to dive into a swimming pool full of WD-40 immediately, and Dill needs to be stuffed back into the pickle jar. Permanently. Tackle worries me more than any other position right now.

Exactly. Most teams don't have a starting caliber RT and the huge contract Parnell got in FA proves that. I don't know of a team that has a starter-level player at Swing Tackle.

Another factor with Weems was the same with Parnell. At a certain point you have to get better by getting the reps on the field. Parnell did and he was a solid RT by the end of last season. Weems isn't going to be starter-quality, but he will be an OK swing tackle after getting reps in this preseason.

Parnell was just as horrible when he started out. It's funny how the same things said about Weems are the same things that were said about Parnell 4 years ago.

This thread is just as good as the Showers one where it was said that he was better than Vaughn after just one game.

I'm glad that football is back, but folks are over reacting.

The fact he thinks he did ALL RIGHT is kind of upsetting lol. Guy was no where near all right as a veteran
