i used to really like crayton but he has worn thin on me. I originally thought it was just smack to get his name out there for a big contract, but now it is clear he is just a loud mouth.

We live in a 'pro' wrestling entertainment society. Way too much boasting which goes well beyond what's necessary. Still, if his team will get him to the promise land and win a Lombardi, his boasting will not come back to haunt him... much. However, if the team should fall short of the ultimate goal again, his mouth will have dug another huge hole for himself.

Way too much Vince McMahan in the NFL, imo.

Amen.

As to what DCFanatic opined... It seems like the team can't win. Some people say Super Bowl or bust, and if our players don't agree then they're just a bunch of soft/spoiled/don't want it/etc. losers.

Then some people think we should just try to win a playoff game first, which I tend to agree with.

Actually, I'd take it a step further. Forget about the postseason. Let's beat Cleveland. And then focus on the next team. And then the team after that.

Please, dont blame Crayton for the playoff lose. Many guys were to blame including the coaches. Crayton is who he is and he has the best hands on the team. We wouldnt have been 13-3 if it was not for him. He speaks the truth most of the time...why is that so wrong?

I'm on record for placing more individual blame on Jacques Reeves during the final minute of the first half than any other player during the whole game. He does have the best hands on the team. He also has a big heart. Still, deeds will always outweigh words. IMO, he should yell loudest by allowing his play to do most of the talking.

Tony Romo missed several passes including a couple that would have gone for 6. Fasano screwed the pooch. The defense gave up the drive at the end of the half.

I agree with Deion who says the team lost becasue they didnt make plays. It was a team loss.

Hes probably just answering questions. I doubt he came out and just blurted this out without being asked what his opinions on the upcoming season were.

I think hes right. Dallas should be contending. Thats the goal so to say that this team "isn't quite ready" just wouldn't sound that great IMO.

Playoff drought or not, this team is as good as any out there.

He did let his play do most of his talking. He had a helluva season last year. What has he said this year that's so wrong? He's right, this is a SB team, this is a talented team. I still don't know what he said for him to be called a blabbermouth and for fans to be so down on him. The guy can play, he proved it last year...

You're right, he did have a very good year.

You're right, Crayton's correct in saying that, on paper, this is a Super Bowl caliber team.

You're right, he can play in the NFL and is a solid professional.

Where you're wrong and he's wrong (and any other player for that matter) is that it is always a team effort that gets you to the Super Bowl and/or win it. He should be conservative in his comments until he and his team have proven what he's always itching to say to the media and actually does. Otherwise, he just sounds like a braggart. That's alright for fans. We don't have anything to prove in the NFL, but he does. That's the point. Just my two cents.

"Right now, we're trying to get it right back," Crayton said. "Each year we take one step closer. This is our year where we have to take it. We should be playing in Tampa Bay come February 1. We should be playing in Tampa Bay. That's our ultimate goal this year.

"We're not just playoff possibilities, now we're contenders. As contenders, we're one of the top teams to beat, I believe.

Patrick Q. Crayton is by FAR my least favorite Cowboy of all time...if he were to not play one game this season I would consider it a successful season on that aspect alone....the man is a tool.

I agree...here's a guy who was a college QB...got drafted in the 7th rd, learned how to play WR and worked his tail off to make himself a quality NFL player...he was never expected to be a starter last yr but took over that role and did a damn good job of it...yet he's crucified over one damn game when there was PLENTY of blame to go around

Considering how much we throw to Owens and Witten, having a guy who'd never been an NFL starter come in and catch 50 passes and 7 tds as a 3rd option is damn good...I dont know what some of you people expect

like I said in another post, some of our fan base is just embarrassingly lousy

The team lost, everyone made mistakes...ONE player QUIT...ONE! There is a HUGE difference...if he had just dropped that last pass, fine, that happens...but there is no nor will there EVER be any excuse for his pathetic play there at the end...the man QUIT!

I find it kind of sad that some people on here will give a guy a free pass for quitting in a play off game...blatantly quitting...

y'all are kidding your selves thinking he is that good btw, with teams doubling TO, and spending a good deal of time on Witten, any average #3 receiver in the league could do what he does...and probably keep their mouth shut about it too.

That loss to the Giants wasn't all Crayton. You guys can point the finger at him. You can talk about his dropped pass...

And if you do that, it's really unfair. It's really unfair. :(

That's our player guys.

Our wide receiver.

And if you guys do that man it's unfair. They lost as a team. They lost as a team man! :(

*collects self* *breathes hard*

:D

Really though, I never really worry about what Crayton says, as long as he delivers on the field. He can predict another Cowboys dynasty for all I care. Just get it done on the field.

If anything, I am a bit encouraged when one of our players says something like: "This is our year where we have to take it." Heck yah we do.

He gave up on a route and yes he has admitted to it taken responsibility for it and so forth.

I have no idea what was going through his mind, but he made absolutely zero excuses for it and for that I think from a fan standpoint maybe we should lighten up.

He did after all make big first down after big first down for us throughout the year. He made many more big plays than bad. Unfortunately that bad one came at a very bad time.

Everyone should be thinking Superbowl... I don't think he should be the one talking but hey it's his right.
