Murray's got a good head on his shoulders. I'm sure whatever decision he makes will be good for his family and himself.

One, love this guy's perspective and everything you hear from him outwardly. He want to put in work and be a huge team player get paid for it.

Sounds to me like they've already told him they're going to let him test the market and that they've got a limited allocation for his position, and he's going to get the data and then decide what's most important to him. And I'd bet his decision isn't purely financial, too. Though it's probably mostly financial. He's only back in Dallas if the market for him is soft, overall. And it probably won't be.

Pretty reasonable for everybody, overall.

with the list of FA's and draft class for RB's...I bet it is soft.

If he ends up here he BETTER learn how to protect the ball. Does this guy even watch game film and see how he carries the ball? His fumble really hurt us against the Packers.

Murray has even kept his thoughts from his agent and family.

“I’ve thought about a lot of things I haven’t told anyone yet, not even my agent or not even my family,” Murray told ESPNDallas.com. “You can sit back and look at the pros and cons of many different situations and you think of yourself and think of your family in these situations.

"I told my agent, 'Hey, get your notes together. You talk to who you need to talk to and when the time is right ...' but for the next couple of weeks I just want to get away from everything. I don’t want to hear about it. I don’t want any phone calls saying, 'Hey, there’s this or this.'"

"Those guys know how I am as a person and I understand that business aspect. I don’t get butt-hurt. I don’t get my feelings hurt. I believe in myself and what I’m capable of doing and whoever it is I’m playing for next year, I know I’m going to make a huge impact."

Murray said he loves playing with the Cowboys, but still keeps his status wide open.

"Obviously I love playing with these guys, love playing for Jerry, love playing for Jason (Garrett)," Murray said. "He’s a helluva coach, a helluva guy. The things I’ve learned from him and (Jason Witten) in the four years I’ve been here, I’m very gracious and appreciative of it. If the chips fall that way, I’m excited and would love to come back. I don’t know what’s going to happen, so we’ll see."

There is one silver lining for Dallas.

"When it’s all said and done, no matter where I end up, 10 years, 20 years from now I definitely will consider Dallas being my home," Murray said, "and I’ll probably end up raising my family there."

Serously, Dez, with all your monies, you would choose to retire in Dallas and half your family retire here? Someone tell me he half not traveled much.

This didn't really reveal much at all. This is the typical response from a soon-to-be free agent who's season just ended.

i disagree.
it be revelatory because here i can almost see him, in his smoking jacket, holding a gimlet of brandy before the fire, being philosophical and stuff. I can almost envision the books on stiratical earnings, bound theses by John Kenneth Galbreathe, and books by the Asian and Greek pilosofers. Ah, yes, we half a thinking man looking at his long future ahead. recently engaged, on the cusp of welded bliss and mastering Stanford-business acumens.
He revealed much!
that he is a bidnessman, that life is a dream, a tributary that take many rivlets to life journeys. He revealed hisself to be astute, in tune with the murmers of immortality and . . . ah, i feel like cap-slapping him and say to him, i say: "Just get the monies and stay here, you perennial superstar in the making!"

I half to go now and assess meine puny life. but first a fried baloney samwich. That always perk me up. :)

I am positivly surprised. This is a boy in his twenties. But he seems to handle himself like a grown up man.

Still i would not sign him but thats just a business decisson. i have alot of respect for that guy (if thoses comments are true).

He should just as anyone else would do. The players who produce at a high level get paid more than the guy who just produced avg. Dallas can go get avg, hell we have been getting avg for a good while. You want talent you pay for it. Dez is no different nor is Romo or Witten.

I get it, but I don't get it. 4m, 8m, what's the dif? One is more than the other, but unless you're an *******, it's more money than you'd know what to do with. Money is amongst many of the things that has deteriorated this sport.

I agree I think they all get paid too much. However it is how it is and I think Murray should expect to get paid for producing at the level he has.

Sounds like a guy who thinks he's going to another team.

I got more of a "whatever" from it.
If I stay or if I go?

personally as great a guy and back as he is
I wouldn't do second contracts with RB's.
I might miss on a few but come out ahead overall.

I will disagree on the bolded section. Teams will look at him and see the numbers, all the numbers. If you were GM are you willing to give a RB like murray a huge pay day with his track record of injury, the total number of touches he got this year including playoffs. I have feeling that he may be back maybe more than Jerry initially offered but I do not see a team offering him the moon. The only team I could see doing it is the Pats because they always employ a RBBC approach.

I'm surprised to hear people think this could happen.

I think its completely against the character of the Pats to break the bank for any player much less RB, we can safely remove them from the list imo

If he didn't have those fumbles, I could see JJ raising the offer that has already been made to him. That said, good dude, great player, wish we could afford him but I see him walking. The fumbles just make his price tag too steep.

I'm curious to see how the open market sees him and other good running backs. If they see him as a cut above the rest it will be hard to compete with teams that have huge cap room.
