Without a Super Bowl, I don't see more than 1 Cowboy from this era getting in, and that would most likely be Ware.

Goose can be wrong about a lot of things, but since he's the NFL rep for the HOF, his opinion holds a little more value.

I like the logic-absent argument, though, as if Witten himself can win a Super Bowl without everything else going right for the team and, in a lot of cases, wrong for the weekly opponent.

Cowboys fans are incredible. So Goose, who is involved in the process, says what he thinks based on his knowledge of the process, the voters and their tendencies, and fans want to call him out for saying so?

Goose never said Witten wouldn't be in the Hall, just that it would behoove him to win a Super Bowl. That would definitely make a difference in a first-ballot or waiting a few years. Besides, no one knows who will be in the class with him.

I think Witten will get into the HoF because of his numbers, longevity and because he's an all-around nice guy. But I can't say he'll be a first-ballot HoF because I don't know who he'll have to compete with or what the class coming in with him will look like.

Chillax.

I think Ware and Witten will get in without Super Bowl rings. I don't know if they get in first ballot. Romo ABSOLUTELY has to win a Super Bowl in order to get in.

It's way early but there's no reason why Dez Bryant can't end up in the HOF either.

Can any of these three offensive linemen get in? I don't think it's a stretch to say at least one of them can.

Would love for Romo to get a title, but he shouldn't have to have one in order to get in the Hall. He will at a minimum have to have a couple more playoff runs though. Fouts and Warren Moon are in without titles (or super bowl appearances) so Romo should not be held to a higher standard.

More interested in his path to a SuperBowl. Canton can wait.

I think Witten makes the HOF. One has been his high level of production over his career and 2 I think he is a man that is highly respected by those who actually vote on the HOF. Respect plays a part like it or not, had Haley not burnt some bridges with sports writers who vote on the HOF he likely would have been in already

Stop it Dez needs to catch the pass and go down.

Ozzie Newsome, Jackie Smith, Charlier Saunders and Kellen Winslow are in the Hall of Fame and none of them have a Superbowl ring. Tony Gonzalez is retired and does not have a Superbowl ring. Antonio Gates will probably end up retiring in a year or two and I doubt he gets a Superbowl ring.

He shouldn't, but he will. To date, Romo still doesn't have a league MVP, which will hurt him also if he doesn't win a Super Bowl.
And Romo is really fighting against the quarterbacks playing in his era and being a Cowboys quarterback.

Watching Murray's photos all over the place makes me realize that its not going to feel right if he bolts for FA. We need to keep this team intact as is as much as possible if were going to have the type of success we had this year.

lol...

I used to be a member of the newspaper media. I can say with pretty good certainty that many writers hold grudges. Sources who work with you and give you quotes and make your job easier, you have a natural tendency to like them and prefer them. Sources who are difficult, surly, uncooperative and make your job harder, you have a natural tendency to dislike them. Haley's background and his attitude with the press has certainly hurt him.
Witten's reputation as a good guy who has always been standup will certainly help him.

True his opinion being being a HOF, or was a HOF voter should weigh something. He can still be wrong, as he often seems to be.
Always seems to be pessimistic. No wonder his presentations don't get us many players voted in the HOF. LOL

He gives the presentations, and used to vote. I thought Chearean Williams took over both, but maybe she just has the voting right but Gosselin still does the presentations.

At least she has a more clear head to vote.

kind of nice though the way he slid the Haley deal off onto SF reporters, so maybe they are a bit bitter he won 3 rings with is, only 2 with them. Maybe they don't put in the effort.
And maybe he had more stats success in SF but his 3 rings here count for more, so maybe it's about time he does the Haley presentation for Dallas, not a SF rep.

When I hear the name Rick "Goose" Gosselin, I think of the South Park episode where Cartman joins NAMBLA.

Cowboys fans are incredible. So Goose, who is involved in the process...
How involved is he? Every NFL city is represented by one voter on the selection committee, and Goose is it. Asked the question in a public forum, he had a chance to be proactive. He could have said something about Witten's accomplishments, which are many, both on and off the field. He could have said, "Witten will make it in, if I have anything to do with it...I will make sure his case gets heard." Something positive from the Dallas representative. Instead, Goose just reveals how little it means to him, by showing how little he's considered Witten's case.

"It would behoove him to win a Super Bowl?" There are 8 TE in the HOF, and half of them never won a Super Bowl. Two of those, Ozzie Newsome and Jackie Smith, combined have fewer 1st team All -Pro selections, and fewer Pro Bowls than Witten.
