McFadden was the only player who came up no matter how I phrased it. I'm sure there's more but even then it doesn't mean AP will.

I applaud you for making the effort, but you get my point, it happens, and players do take things outside of money into consideration in the decision-making.

Does this mean I would expect Peterson to take $5 million a year less in Dallas? No. But I don't expect another team to outbid by that much either.

But if it were a matter of $5 million a year in Dallas vs $7 million a year somewhere else? I can certainly see Peterson playing for the Cowboys.

And conversely, I could see Murray leaving Dallas to play elsewhere for that same $2 million difference.

I think if Vikings released him he will take a small deal to come to us to help the team. People forget he got paid in full last year. 15 million he got.

I don't think it would be a 'small deal' at all. In fact, I would expect it to look like $15 to $20 million over three years, back-loaded like other play now, pay later type of deals.

Fair enough, I'm just saying I would love to see the chance of Peterson running wild behind this O line. That would be a sight to see. In my opinion, a lot of the long Murray runs would end up in Peterson breaking them to the house

As would I. And I am not of the belief of a 'once size fits all' when it comes to athletes. Some athletes are simply better suited to the game than others. One linebacker could play for years and rarely if ever miss a game while another is seemingly injured all the time. Same for running backs. I see Peterson as a freakish athlete, a rare example that comes along very rarely, in the Herschel Walker/Bo Jackson category.

There are running backs, there are good running backs, and then there are great running backs. I put Peterson among the great ones.

And he's a good example of a guy factoring in things other than money into his decision-making process too. He could have had the opportunity to leave San Antonio for a bigger market and more money numerous times, but he decided to stay put. And that has greatly benefitted him personally and professionally and helped the Spurs win multiple titles. Conversely, how's that LeBron thing working out?

MIN is the most likely spot for AD next season. I'd say Dallas is the second most likely destination. I don't see what's so wrong about talking about it. It's not at all unrealistic that he'd come here as a free agent.

Now, anybody expecting a significant discount is smoking crack. The most we could hope for is a big contract that's structured "pay as you go," with both parties betting on themselves. And I'm not sure I'd want that, though I'd definitely consider it. The guy is near the end of a truly special career. Like, all time greats neighborhood. He's a sure fire upgrade over the good RB we had last season.

As with most things, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I do believe AP feels as though MN has burned a bridge with him, but I do not believe he has expressly asked to be traded to Dallas.

I believe AP has made it clear he's not all gunned-up (Jerry term!) about playing for the Vikings again, and that's about it.

This is my take too. I don't think he wants to play for the Vikings, and let that be known.
When when the stuff hit the fan, his agent told him to "Cool it" then "leaked" the story that Peterson is not seeking a trade.
It's all a negotiating ploy.

I agree for the most part, but given his current contract with the Vikings? I think it's a 50-50 proposition at best that he remains in Minnesota. I fully believe that when they ask him to restructure, he will decline and be cut.

Now, anybody expecting a significant discount is smoking crack.

A bit harsh of a description, but I think the money is a subject that anyone talking about it should be clear on. Right now it's a grey area everyone is arguing about while providing no actual numbers. My personal belief is that the ability to play for the Cowboys would be worth at least $2 million per year to him.

I would expect a back-loaded deal that looks pricey on the surface but defers a lot of money down the road.

What is Peterson's motivation for a negotiating ploy? How does any claim that he doesn't want to play in Minnesota for $13 million help him?

Unless your him how do you know that? I really don't know maybe you could help me out. How many players over the years have given a home team discount? seriously.

Because AP himself has said money is not an issue.

After reading the title of this thread, I can't help but wonder how many pillows are soaked in tears tonight.

None, because people believe what they want to believe. And unless something solid happens with either Murray or Peterson, then all you have is hope and speculation.

That wouldn't be bad at all. And draft a guy in the 3-4 round.

Tension rises between Adrian Peterson's agent, Vikings exec in Indy
The decaying relationship between Vikings star running back Adrian Peterson and the organization took a dramatic turn during the combine last week in downtown Indianapolis: Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, had to be separated from a member of Minnesota's front office during a heated verbal altercation about the former Pro Bowler, according to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation.

According to the sources, Dogra engaged in a heated exchange with Vikings vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski during which the agent made it clear that Peterson would never play there again. The incident took place during a time when outside parties were in the vicinity. Finally, former Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik intervened, separating the men and diffusing the escalating tension, sources said.

The Vikings did not respond to requests to comment for this report. Dogra did not respond to numerous messages. Dominik has not commented as well.

Peterson, who is signed through 2017 and set to make $13 million in 2015, has no intention of playing again for the Vikings, sources said. Peterson, sources said, lost faith and trust in the franchise after a tumultuous ordeal over his child abuse charges that resulted in him missing nearly the entire season on the Commissioner's Exempt List while his legal situation played out.

“He will never play another game for the Vikings,” said one person close to the player. “It's over.”

Adrian Peterson - RB - Vikings
A source close to Adrian Peterson said the running back "will never play another game for the Vikings."

A few weeks ago Peterson seemed open to the idea of returning to Minnesota, but things have gone south in a hurry. According to reports, Peterson's agent Ben Dogra had to be restrained from Vikings VP of football operations Rob Brzezinski last week at the combine after the two exchanged words. Meanwhile, Peterson is still suspended indefinitely with April 15 the earliest he could be reinstated.

It may get him his freedom. Negotiations aren't necessarily just for money. He may want to go to a team that has a better chance to reach the Super Bowl.

That I can see.

Maybe a 12-4 team? In his home state? With arguably the league's best offensive line? And a top QB, QR, TE and overall offense?

Yeah, I could see that...
