Personally i believe our O Line is up for the task. Lets not forget, the real reason they made all those moves on the DL was to counteract Romo having 15 seconds in the pocket to make his reads and dissect their defense.

And now they will need to take into account that Dak can run, as where Tony most likely won't.

Amazing how stats tell the tale we had the top defense out of the NFC east last year BUT listen to any enemy fan they say we have no defense SMH. I kept telling my friends the D isn't as bad as you think we were in most games last year. If we had a Offense that could have gotten a first down or put some points up things would have looked awfully different. We do need to improve in turnovers but I think moving jones to safety and Scandrick back will help their. Sacks I don't care about as much as pressure but that is me I guess, I think we will see much more pressure straight up the middle which will also help our turnover numbers. Very excited for the year lets go boys

A lot of this is due to our offensive line controlling the clock. Our defense was much worse than the stats indicated. If they were on the field more, they'd have been exposed.

The Cowboys need to run the ball right at him over and over. He is not a big guy and will get worn down defending the run.

He was one of the best run stopping ends in the league last year. I don't think we should be afraid of running at anyone, but I don't think it makes sense to go out of our way to target Vernon.

He beat Tyron in the rain I doubt it happens again
Yeah, one game means not much really. Vernon could have had a move that Smith wasn't prepared for and got him a couple of times with it (as a DE you can win two out of 40 snaps and consider it a good day).

Physically, Smith is a much more dominant OT than Vernon is a DE. It's not like he whipped Tyron athletically.

IMO, Smith will have a better feel for what Vernon (or Mr. Seven Fingers) brings to the table in this game and play a little better against him (and it isn't like he sucked last time).

Only guy who really worries me is Vernon. He has succeeded pretty well against Tyron Smith in the past.

When they go to battle again, I'll still put my money on Tyron. Probably just had an "out of the ordinary" bad day at the office out in Miami. The battle I'm worried about is Free vs. Firework Hands.

As a DE getting hit with that zone stretch, zone stretch, zone stretch, zone stretch, and then having to anchor against man blocking must be an ever-loving nightmare for a guy who isn't that big to begin with.

It certainly could be a very bad day for Vernon.

Our defensive lived on the field we went 3 and out to many times to count not to mention we couldn't score

That's not true. The stats were out there. We were bottom 8 in defensive plays from scrimmage and bottom 8 in defensive time on field. We got plenty of 1st downs, they just came between the 20s and led to FGs.

Yes, the Cowboys like to repeatedly run zone stretch to the same side multiple times and then come back to the opposite side with inside zone or man blocking and blow up the DE on that side when he has started cheating over.

Not as ballyhooed as the Dream Team but it will take time for them to gel as a D. It's good they'll still be getting acclimated but they are in the hands of a very good DC.

While their D is a concern, I am more concerned by ours being able to stop them and keep them form putting additional pressure on our QB to score. The Giants known weakness is their OL. Our know weakness is our DL. If we can't get pressure against this OL, this will be our Achilles Tendon as we will face better OLs than this one.

Manning likes to get the ball out fast, our secondary and LBs are going to get tested right out of the gate. Our DL will need time to get to him. I think too much time.
As long as we can hold them to field goals mostly, I'm good with that.

You also have to consider how slow our offense was last season. We were running a lot between the hashes and keeping our passes short, so even our 3 and outs took time off the clock. I agree with you, we went 3-and-out far too often, especially when it counted. But we did keep our defense off the field, for the most part. Especially considering that they weren't getting many take aways to get themselves off the field.

I would love to see their whole $150 million defensive line get tossed around. I fully believe Collins can do that to their guys

What also helps Eli is the speed of their WR's. We need to get that extra second so that the pass rush, which we have no idea about, to get pressure.
We can't match that speed, but this is where Byron Jones must make his impact too.
There will be growing pains.

We can't match the speed of their WRs but we can punk OBJ for 60 minutes.

Have you watched Snacks Harrison play? I don't see anyone tossing him around anytime soon, unfortunately.

They definitely increased the talent on the defense, that's for sure. Can they get it to all work together? Who the hell knows.
