Cowboys may need to bring back this troubled player

The Dallas Cowboys may be forced to turn to this troubled player unless they can improve their defense through free agency or the draft.
Free agency has been open for a little over three weeks now, and the Dallas Cowboys haven’t exactly been big spenders on the market. The team has brought in some bargain deals such as defensive tackle
Cedric Thornton, but no big names that will cause breaking news. And that’s just fine.
While many fans clamor for the marquee names to be added to their favorite teams, handing out massive sums of money usually comes back to bite the team. However, teams do want to leave free agency feeling like they have shored up issues in problem areas of their roster, and it’s not certain the Cowboys can say that.
They added to the middle of the defensive line in Thornton, added some offensive line flexibility in
Joe Looney, and added a young rotation player to the pass rush in
Benson Mayowa.
The biggest issue on this team is the pass rush. Mayowa may be a good rotational player, but that’s not enough to solidify this pass rush into a unit that can push into a playoff spot. All of the big names are off the market, and the team didn’t want to shell out that kind of money anyway. That leaves one player to reunite with: defensive end
Greg Hardy.
Many fans probably got sick at their stomach reading that last line, and that’s understandable. What Hardy did to get himself suspended last season is despicable, and the distractions he caused the team last season became a constant headache for Cowboys fans. But he was above average on the field while knocking off the rust and dealing with some nagging injuries.
With DeMarcus Lawrence settling in nicely at the left defensive end position, and last year’s second round pick
Randy Gregory getting himself a four-game drug suspension, the team needs a talented player to line up over the opposing teams best blocker. Hardy has shown he’s as complete as a defensive end can get, if he can just stay out of the headlines for the wrong reasons...
