News: DMN: Sturm: Cowboys' season is over; team must find future quarterback plan

I'd take RG3 out of all those guys as a backup.

He's a better scheme fit.

He's good at throwing vertical and can run. That's what we need in a backup.

Right on. I'm not looking to replace Romo with these guys but if he is our QB the next 2-3 years we need a strong backup.

I would still draft a QB in the first or second and another one later like Dak Prescott.

I would too.

I haven't looked extensively at these QBs to see if they are truly worth it but we need a QB asap.

I never really said that. But, I do believe one of the worst things you can do is change the playbooks on a young QB early in their career.

I hate to break the news to you bro, but our playbook is one of the simplest in the entire freaking league. Kuechly was pointing to which hole the running play was going to go to, which side the sweeps were going to, what route Witten was going to run.

It literally took Kuechly about 2 mins to figure out our entire offensive system..........this is like a crayon playbook we are using, just laughable.

And they knew, just after going deep at dez there isn't a chance in hades we go there again next play ....hence the safety inside wittens route for a pik 6 to start the game. Yes romos call but garrets influence toward predictability

Take a look at the QB's who switched offensive systems early on in their careers. It's not pretty.

Bob Sturm analyzes the Dallas Cowboys' loss to the Carolina Panthers on Thanksgiving.

What's your reaction to Tony Romo's injury and what it means?

It's obviously catastrophic. Everyone is aware of what it means: the slightest crack of the 2015 door has slammed shut. This team is probably left to wonder what could have been. It looks like the injury of September and November are the same one, reminding me of Oklahoma Sooners' Sam Bradford of 2009. He got hurt in early September and tried to hurry back, and maybe his first game back, he re-aggravated it to the point he was lost for the season. If a hit like today, which i felt was not any severe hit, could break that collarbone again, then perhaps he hurried back a little too early. That would be the cheap media second guess.

Jerry is giving up on Weeden, Cassel, ect, ect,

Any QB that we draft that has at least a Jr. High education should be able to pick up our entire playbook in one weekend.

Trust me, this aint the greatest show on turf 500 page playbook Vermil had.

Trust me, it's not an easy playbook. There's a lot of options that require understanding defensive alignments.

It took Matt Cassel 3-weeks just to understand the offense just to be ready to QB for the team which would not have happened if Weeden wasn't such a joke.
