Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens recently joined NFL Total Access on NFL Network to talk about the team. Here are some highlights.

10 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT KYLE ORTON/ With Tony Romo lost for the season, the Dallas Cowboys will turn to veteran backup quarterback Kyle Orton to lead them past the Philadelphia Eagles in the biggest game of the year and into the playoffs. Here is 10 things you should know about Orton as he prepares to make his first start of the season on Sunday night.

On if the Cowboys are better off with Kyle Orton starting:

“My thing with Romo is he’s been inconsistent late in ball games. I think going into a situation like this, you don’t have him, No. 1. But you give yourself, I feel like, a better chance. The thing is, with Tony Romo, you kind of already know what to expect. Late in the game, it’s a toss up. You just read off the mind blowing stats. If you look at what Kyle Orton has done, he’s done more with less. I think if you look at this in this situation, I think beyond certainty, obviously with them not playing against Kyle Orton, meaning the Eagles, he has an edge. I think, obviously, he’s going to have to utilize all his weapons. I think he’s going to have to do some quick passing, get (DeMarco) Murray involved. But again, you have a game changer and a playmaker in Dez Bryant.”

On if he’d rather have Orton or Romo in a win or go home game:

“You obviously want to go in with your starter. But right now, you have to deal with the cards that are dealt right now. So if I’m putting myself in this situation, I’m going to try to make myself available for Kyle Orton as much and as often as I can, and that all depends on the offensive coordinator. He has to utilize his weapons. He has to realize who his game chagers are, who his play makers are and I think for the Cowboys, it’s undoubtedly Dez Bryant.”

As long as the line holds up. If their getting pressure and in the backfield all day Romo is not only the best option but our only chance. I have faith in Orton if he is protected though. In no way do I think he gives us a better chance than Tony. I am more concerned about Lee being out however.

I expect blitzing and I expect Orton to read it and hit the hot route. Lately with Romo probably because of his back if they blitzed he would just go down. I really felt that if teams blitzed us more we would have been in trouble.

I watched NFL Total Access last night and this has been taken way out of context.

First and foremost, they coaxed T.O. into saying that Orton gave them a better shot. And what he was trying to say was that with Orton being in the lineup, its unexpected which can work to the Cowboys advantage as the Eagles can't necessarily prepare for him. But he stated that if its a shootout or the Cowboys are down by 14, its over as Orton is a game manager and can't put up points very quickly. When T.O. said "Romo can put up points very quickly" Deion said "For which team?" and they all started laughing. They were clearly trying to poke fun at Romo with the entire segment and T.O. was actually trying to avoid it. Darren Sharper as well.

They made a poll saying "Are the Cowboys better off without Romo"? Why on earth would you even make that poll? Would they have made a poll saying "Are the Saints better off with Drew Brees?" They used this segment to poke fun and it wasn't cool especially since the host has constantly been a Romo defender throughout the season.

The story didn't sound like the headline but people will eat it up with a pitchfork.

I don't watch the NFL Network or ESPN (unless its a game). I find that both channels interfere with my ability to watch the History Channel... so... they lose out.

Made that switch about a year ago.

I don't regret it. I no longer listen to blowhards talk about things they know nothing about.

Why would a newspaper or anyone care about what his washed up has been has to say?

He should try getting his life on track.

Because he's a future HoF'er and one of the best to ever play his position?

Ironic that you say he should worry about getting his life on track.. because by doing spots for NFL Network, that's exactly what he seems to be doing. lol

I don watch any sports shows anymore either. Haven't watched espn since about 05. And the nfl network does not have a single person worth watching so I don't.

The fact that they let Deion pull his crap is absurd. No one should care what that loser or loser Owens has to say.

So a guest appearance for a minute on nfl network with his buddy sanders is getting his life turned around?

Wow that was easy. next stop president Owens

Good luck with the hall of fame.

Its a step in the right direction, certainly..

Honestly, i don't think he really needs to "get his life turned around" much.. he's already accomplished much more than the rest of us.

Like i said, he's a lock for the HoF and was one of the best to ever do what he did. Not many people alive right now can say that about what they do.

Charles Haley was a lock also but the media hates him and Andre reed was terrific and helped his team to 4 superbowls and he is not in yet.

Like I said good luck with the hall of fame.

Kurt Warner is probably the only intelligent guy on that set and he's not even one of the "regulars." He does the gameday mornings more frequently.

I love Irvin and love listening to him but he isn't too bright himself.

Anyone in there right mind doesn't believe that, but ok. :D

It doesn't seem T.O was really saying that, but if anyone in general believes the title, they need their head examined lol.

Owens has 3,000 more career yards than Reed in the same amount of seasons, and more importantly.. almost twice as many scores. He'll be in the HoF no problem, and like i said, not many people breathing right now can say they were one of the best EVER to do what they did for a living.

I just think people saying he needs to get his life turned around need to get a grip. He's already written his chapters.. and even though he was a head case, he found greatness. Comments about how he has to "get it together" just reek of bitterness and silliness.

Aikman was also quoted as saying something similar this week.. but his comments too were taken out of context. He never really said we were better with Orton, just that our offense might be better because it'll force JG to call a sensible gameplan for once.

Are you old enough to have watched reed? He was terrific. Again, he helped lead them to 4 superbowls and he didn't score as many td's because he played with one of the best running backs to ever play in Thurman Thomas.

Yes, he has already written his chapters. He has gone down as quite possibly the worst teammate of all time in any sport. If you don't think that means something then fine. All I know is there are a lot of criminals in pro sports, guys like LT, Leonard Little, Irvin etc.....and they are all beloved by their teammates and given a break by the media because they were incredible teammates and locker room guys. Owens was never that and is held in lower regard than most of those criminals who have played all over this league.

lol

I'm plenty old enough to remember Andre Reed, bud.

He was a great receiver, certainly.

If it came down to it though, i'd say TO is obviously the better receiver.. he was just a physical freak of nature who was able to take over a game whenever he wanted.

Yes, TO was a head case.. i already said that. On the field though, you can't find many who were greater than him at playing the WR position.
