I also don't buy for a second that Reed's TD total is only half of TO's just because he played with a good RB. Thomas had only one season with double digit TD production and even if he had more, there's still plenty of room in an offense for a receiver and a back to both put up good TD totals.

Owens was simply faster, stronger, more physical, better after the catch, better hands.. he's simply the better player.

I know you don't like him as a person, but that's really not the point.

ok I don't know why I ever discuss this guy.

I don't buy for a second that you saw reed play but if you think owens is the best ever well then good for you. I have waisted enough time in my life discussing this loser.

Give it a few years, a number of these guys will have similar careers if not better.

reed played in the old nfl, owens played in the pass happy let payton manning throw it around for tv ratings nfl.

big difference.

Which, again.. may account for the 3,000 more yards TO put up, but the TD differential is still wayyy too wide of a margin.

..and depending on when you think the "pass happy" NFL started, TO's career started in the mid 90's, Reed played a few years in the "pass happy" NFL too if that's the case.

Still trying to figure where T.O says Orton gives the team a better shot at winning.

I watched TO on NFLN and did not like what he had to say. He had no problem saying it either.

IMO I think the media had their agenda for the week all planned out and then Romo gets injured which screwed up what they wanted to run. They basically are looking for ways to bring up Romo. They spent a day or two building Romo up then the next couple of days dragging him through the mud.

The amount of print and air time Romo's injury has received compared to Rodgers or Cutler is ridiculous. Both of their teams were basically in the same position over the last couple of weeks and not nearly the same amount of intense discussion has occurred.

Orton can't beat the eagles in a shootout, Romo could. unless the D and Murray step up Orton can't win

Okay, since Owens can be completely discredited, how about Danny White?

“As crazy as this may sound, I think their chances of winning the game just got better,” White said. “I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen backup quarterbacks come in and it just raises the level of intensity, their level of concentration. They’ll either crater and go right in the tank, or they’ll rise to the occasion. Every guy will play just a little bit better.”

It's definitely going to take some big plays on defense or in special teams to win. I was looking at Football Outsiders stats and noticed that by far the biggest matchup in our favor is special teams. If they're dumb enough to kick it to Harris and he makes some big plays, that could decide the game.

I have a funny feeling we play well in this game and have a good chance at winning. Also that Foles might semi-choke -- he hasn't ever played in a game this big.

I have no problem with this, and this was sort of my initial feeling. Pound for pound, Romo is a better QB than Orton, I don't think anyone is disputing that, but taking their games into consideration, Orton does what you need him to do to win you a game, and while it might not always be pretty, one might prefer it over watching Romo trying to put on his Superman cape only to fail, late, again.

Dismissing Owens as an incredible talent who had a hall of fame career?

Way to dumpster dive with your credibility.

You guys are crazy if you don't think Orton can put up points on the Eagles defense. That secondary is Swiss Cheese back there. They let Matt Cassell and old Greg Jennings abuse them bad a few weeks ago. They have a pretty good pass rush at times but if the o-line protects Orton I guarantee you he puts up over 300 yds passing. The real concern will be what they do when they get in the Redzone. Playcalling will be very important inside the Redzone this week because I don't think Orton will change plays like Tony does.

I feel like Foles will eventually get into rhythm against this defense; it's just a matter of how much clock has transpired and how much we've scored before that happens. I think they'll use a lot of low risk/high percentage passes early on so hopefully we'll be ready for that. Despite all its issues, I don't want the defense to sit back, play scared, and let Foles settle in. I do think he'll play substantially better than he did in the first meeting.

I don't watch the NFL Network or ESPN (unless its a game). I find that both channels interfere with my ability to watch the History Channel... so... they lose out.

Made that switch about a year ago.

I don't regret it. I no longer listen to blowhards talk about things they know nothing about.

So you went from one channel where they don't know what they are talking about to another channel that doesn't know what it's talking about... :)

Reed also played in the KGun, essentially a past version of today's pass happy offenses.

Not dismissing his talent at all. That is unquestioned. It's what he did in locker rooms and to his teammates that I am saying will be his holdup into the hall.

I don't care whether or not I have any credibility btw.
