I would have responded :

I grew up a-dreaming of being a cowboy.
And loving the Cowboy ways
Pursuing the life of high riding heroes
I burned up my childhood days

In fairness, every FA would say this if they were being honest:

"Money is a consideration, as is the team money I money for. Also my money family money has a money in the overall money, we money it together before we money".
yea, people lookin to be upset.

He's upgradable, but at a price I don't think Dallas will be willing to pay. Most sites I've looked at only have three safeties above him in free agency, so it's either pay more for one of them or bring back Church.

I'd grab Berry if KC lets him test the waters or Arizona's Jefferson, but that doesn't seem to be the way Dallas rolls in FA anymore. Those two will be gone in the first week and we don't come out to play then anymore.

You may turn out to be right. I only gave my evaluation of the player. I have zero idea what the FO is thinking. They almost have to bring back one although they could go VFA and/or draft to play alongside Jones. If that failed then they could play Heath and Jones. My guess is they roll with Wilcox and Jones but I equate Wilcox as equal to Church....roughly.

They need to do something at safety IMO but what they don't want to do is backslide. DE is most important followed by CB, LB, then S as far as upgrading goes. None of that is too far apart though so I don't feel strongly about the order just the need.

I noticed how much I saw of Jones down the stretch and how little I saw of Church. That says to me that teams have no fear of throwing near any of our safeties, especially little fear of Jones.

The defense won't fall apart over any of these guys, but it's hard to let them all walk.

Money is a big priority huh.

I know money is important, maybe it's just how the quote came out that rubs me the wrong way. Good job Captain of the defense.

Lol, I was instantly irritated as well. Although all he really did was state the obvious. Of course money is a factor. Its as redundant as reading the directions on a shampoo bottle.

I don't quite trust Wilcox yet. He finally showed signs of getting it and looked better than Church at times last year when he was out there, but of course, he played less than Church. I don't know if he's made the full-time starter whether he'll revert to the hit and miss player he had been his previous years here.

Church is far from perfect because his lack of speed is going to get him at times, but he's the type of player that is almost always going to put himself in the right position and make the sound tackle. He doesn't often miss his marks and when he is beaten, it's usually simply because the other player is quicker or faster than he is. I believe Dallas values him over Wilcox for this reason, but so might some other teams.

Wilcox is the cheaper and riskier option, but he also still has some upside if he finally understands what he's doing. Church is what he is while Wilcox has the potential to be better than that but could likely be worse.

If Church is still the SS I will consider this a failed offseason.

I can't say I feel the same way. If it comes down to signing a higher-priced safety and bringing back someone like Jack Crawford at end or signing church and bringing in someone like Melvin Ingram or Mario Addison at end, give me Church and a rush end every time.

We're not going to get higher-priced FAs at safety, corner, defensive end and wide receiver, so if I have to "pick my poison," so to speak, I roll with the fourth-best safety in this free agent class and focus my free agent dollars on end and corner. (The way Dallas operates, though, I'll be surprised if any of the high-end FAs sign here.)

That means I can also live with Terrence Williams returning if it means upgrading at end and corner.

To me he is the Cowboys number 1 free agent priority. Is he a superstar? No, but he is a solid all around player that is probably more valuable than we think. With that said he has a max value and thats in the 3 to 5 million a year range. We did him a solid back in 2012 and paid him 3 million a year despite a torn achilles. I would expect to cost a bit more to sign him this time around, but hopefully he remembers that when deciding between offers.

This.

When Church is on the field, he elevates the play of the guys in the secondary. He is not a "superstar" but he should be their priority.

To me Church and Wilcox are the same player. Pick one and move on.
And Wilcox doesn't have DL speed; Church has to be the slowest starting S in the league. Wish we could upgrade @ SS if possible but knowing our FO we won't; re-sign away, etc. Though Wilcox did improve this season and was the only hitting force/intimidation in the secondary, his coverage/awareness for the game worries me if re-signed long term. Hopefully can re-sign Mo or Carr on a cheap 1 year deal and draft a CB in the first 3 rds. Carr is jag and Mo can't stay healthy.

I don't trust Wilcox either, I always call it Marion Barber III Syndrome where a guy looks good in a limited role with limited reps and people call for him to be the starter. I think Wilcox would be exposed (again) if he had to match up against top WRs for the full game.

I also like Kavon Frazier, I can see Church resigned or a different/better Safety signed - but if the coaches think Kavon Frazier will be ready to start next year I would trust their judgement at this point. Byron Jones made a big jump in performance this year as a second year player, Frazier could easily do the same. I'd rather have Frazier replace Wilcox as the main backup at SS though.

I could see Jones and Carr (If he adds a few lbs) as the safety tandem next year.
