Our DNA has always been, a strong running game, time of possession, mistake free, keep away football....we should go back to featuring the run, with some play action passes down the field....we need to get back to what has worked for this team, and quit trying to copy cat other teams. we have most of the pieces in place....except for our Tony Dorsett and Emmitt Smith....It's time to get the stud RB this franchise needs. Draft Elliott and lets get this thing rolling. It's not rocket science.

I'd say the Cowboy Way is great QB play. If we've got that, with this OL, we've got a running game. Let's fix the defense and add a mid-round RB and get back to where we're supposed to be that way.

Our DNA has always been great coaching.

One, we don't have most of the pieces in place. There are holes in the defense.

Two, why waste the 4th pick on a TB when you've proven with this OL you can take a lower drafted guy and make him a top TB? Use the 4th pick to address other needs. This OL gives you the flexibility to not have to waste a premium pick on a TB just to have a good running game.

when's the last time we won anything with a RBBC? If we took a player like Elliott, defenses would be forced to stack 8 or 9 guys in the box, and we have Dez outside...its just like 2014 all over again. and it keeps our defense off the field.

he proved Jerry's point in that 500 coaches could win with those teams, we all saw what he could do when it became his own. Everyone knows that was Jimmy's team.

serious question....how many SB's would we have won in the 90's if Emmitt was never a cowboy?

Better question. If Emmitt was drafted by the Jets, would anybody really talk about him much anymore?

Denver won with RBBC

Our DNA was The Playmaker in a black fur coat...

Well put. Zeke would be an immediate impact/superstar. If Jerry, Stephen, Will, and Jason don't see that, then take your Ramsey, Bosa, or bum knee Jack and win a few more games.

If you want the homerun hitter, a guy that can catch and block as well, then get him at four. That's almost three positions for one pick, and guaranteed wins.

Kind of a no-brainer.

And in 2014 we did all that with a 3rd round TB in Murray that some fans around here didn't think could be a bellcow TB.

When was the last time we won anything with an inferior talented defense, like we have now?

It's hilarious to watch people talk about Elliott as if he's this transcendent player that will hoist a franchise on his back and take them to a SB. LOL.

Denver won with RBBC

Denver won with a RBBC because they had a great defense. You would have to go back 20+ years to find a Cowboys defense comparable to what Denver won it all with last season. The Cowboys have never won a championship without having an elite runner. The only time they won a championship with a RBBC was in 1977 with Dorsett and Robert Newhouse.

They've never won a SB without a great defense either. So I don't think one can conclude that it's solely a great running game that won them SBs. I suspect if Dallas had the defense they have now coupled with those 90s offenses with Emmitt, they'd be a pretty good team but not a SB winner..................... kind of like the 2014 team.

I'm not saying it was solely a great running game that won the Cowboys titles they had great defenses and also had an elite runner in the backfield. I've pointed out many times I don't believe they'll ever win another championship no matter how good the offense is until they have at least a respectable defense that can rush the passer and force some turnovers.
