Like most people, I have got serious things to worry about in my life and some of the things are major problems. I deal with some very serious situations from day to day. The last thing I am going to worry about is a fan message board or a poster's opinion. If they want to gripe , then do so. I really don't care. People take the message board business to damn seriously. It may hurt some feelings, but Jerry Jones or the Dallas Cowboys don't care about any of our opinions.
A gripe is not necessarily an opinion. Often, it is simply just a gripe.

Evidently the message is not sinking in.

The very same people who have assured throughout the last umpteen years that this team is coming together still maintain they don't like nor understand the negativity.

Yet, these very same people don't think their position on Campo was negative.

So either I agree with you or I am negative. Great logic.

That makes this rebuttal post pointless, but I have OCD when it comes to mindless things such as this.

2259 words. If you posted it on smashwords.com and put a snazzy cover to it, you could hawk this for .99 a copy.

2259 words.

The point is this.

No more words.

Feel good commentary that goes on year after year only to be forgotten by the original commentators becomes the same thing from one regime to the next. You could virtually copy the same threads from 2009 and drop them here and merely change a few names and they say the same things.

No more words.

Show me.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me a disciplined team.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me less penalties that stop drives.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me a defense that can stop the other team late in games.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me a coaching staff that doesn't hoist themselves on their own petard by making boneheaded decisions.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me a head coach that can manage a clock late in a half or in a game.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me a special teams that can move the ball when we receive it and stop the ball when they do.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me wins in December.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me wins in January.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me play off wins.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me a seed in the NFC Championship game where win one and we have a shot at it all.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me a quarterback that doesn't get rattled, or tries to do too much, but just drives that bus, baby.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Show me a GM that makes wise moves then steps out of the way and the limelight to allow his coaches to do what they were hired to do.

Don't tell me. Show me.

The time for telling me after fourteen years of telling me and the results have been unsatisfactory have ended.

Don't tell me. Show me.

Too many times I have read the tell me why you don't see it my way.

Then a 19 page thread ensues where the people asking me to list my points try and deny each while assaulting me with insults.

Been there, and listed every issue I have with Jerry.

It is no longer about posts with 2259 words telling me why someone else thinks this is greatness.

I've seen that post in so many forms on this board from so many posters I have lost count.

It is not a dog chasing his tail.

It is simply a life long fan not listening to the huckster that owns and runs the team. Or the fans who each year sit at the poker table owned by the huckster and see the crappy cards they are dealt and are holding out for that one card that wins.

It is simply show me.

I bought the magazines, tickets, t-shirts, seats, parking passes, preseason game tickets, cable to see them play, products, read the newspapers, web blogs, internet sites and fanboy comments. Spent almost my entire life loving this team.

Been one since day one!

I have one thing I want. That is to win.

No more rhetoric, no more rancor, no more assurances, no more hopes and no more change.

Show me, because from here on out my mantra is simple.

No More Words...Just Show Me
655 words.

Really? Wouldn't a gripe always be because your opinion differs from what you are griping about?

For example ... my gripe would be, .. why do people continue to hijack threads with comments about tacos?

It may have been funny the first few times, but that was a long time ago.

True. And I thought of that, as well. :C)
I would have also mentioned your '19 page thread' comment, but no one responds to my "you can change your default settings to 40 posts per page" advice. But folks will pay attention to WG saying the exact same thing. It ain't fair. :(

"Why do people continue to hijack threads with comments about tacos?" is in the form of a question. An example of an opinionated gripe would be, "Talking about tacos suck."

That about sums it up actually.

Nothing we say or do on this message board has any impact at all on the Dallas Cowboys, whatsoever.

So if you want to gripe, .. gripe.

If you want to give your opinion of a solution, it is only that, .. your opinion.

I don't care what anyone's opinion is on this board, .. even my own. They mean nothing.

I like to hear what JG has to say, .. and RR. Other than that, not so much.

and people who only do that chase away the people who want to talk football.

lets face it, we all gripe from time to time. human nature. so i don't see hos saying "NEVER EVER GRIPE IN HERE" - that wouldn't fly either.

but some people it's all they do. you ask them to chill out, suddenly you're a jones apologist.

and then it just isn't worth the time anymore.

The problem that happens is that one man's gripe is another mans valid opinion of something. There are people on the forum who are not on the "negative" side of the cowboys who are just as abrasive, many times even more so, and divisive to a good debate as those they claim bring down the board with their negativity.

They are just as negative in other ways.

Starting threads with titles that begin with a negative or divisive title that calls out one group or another to pump themselves or their own group up. It happens a good bit.

Popping into multiple threads to make a snide comment that is full of hyperbole...such as...This can't be true I was told (insert hyperbole).

It is divisive when BOTH sides do it, not just one side.

If you want to talk about what would make for better conversations on the board don't just talk about those that gripe, those that are negative, when what you mean in many cases is those that just don't share the same opinion on a topic that you happen to have.

There are those that are negative on most things. There are those that find a way to defend everything. Calling about one group for calling out your group is counter productive unless the production you wish to achieve is more griping and fighting among the fan base.

I don't like constantly negative people but even I see that they are not the only ones at fault and they are not the only ones who are negative or gripe...they just so happen to be negative or gripe about things that some don't agree with so they are made out to be the bad guys of a sort.

Just something to consider...sometimes when you think you are helping...you're really not helping. I can point to myself with that line as well...but I have made a concentrated effort try and change that for the better.:D

I think they are actually Southwestern Indian. Now, if you want to say that this is American, OK. I wouldn't argue that too much but southwestern Indians also lived in Mexico so I don't know how that really goes.

Soft tacos with tortillas are Mexican although I guess they could be Southwest Indian.

The hard shell taco was invented in America. See the link.

Now I know some smart alec is probably going to probably make a sarcastic reply to this and say just win and it will garner some laughs. Here's the sad part about that shtick, that's all they have. Pay close attention, that's all they've ever had. If that is what you want to applaud and follow, be my guest. I'll always prefer someone who shares insight over those who incite.

Strawman argument laced with insults and name calling.

Nice way to start this mythical discussion.

I think the point here (tell me if I'm paraphrasing you poorly) is that negativity in content and negativity in tone may have absolutely nothing to do with one another.

We've all seen those, "That can't be right, all the draft geniuses on the board told me he was a bad pick" posts. That type of post is very positive on the team, but have a negative effect on the community. You get the same thing from those who are critical of the team, many of whom sarcastically refer to Garrett in the RHG or "genius" terms that became so popular a while back when criticizing the team's actions.

I'm just of the view that critical views of the team and positive views of the team are both good sources for debate and discussion (whether or not they have "solutions" provided). How they're communicated is what matters.

This is very true and they often get what they ask for. There was a good example of this in a thread from yesterday regarding Jason Garrett. The intent of the thread was not to open up it up for discussion. The OP got a little agitated when he saw some of us wasn't ready to pick up our pom poms yet.:D
