That I refuse to root for my team to lose? Yes, that's how my brain works. I think anything else is pitiful.
Wow bro... Just wow.

Let's follow up during draft week when we're sitting pretty with a top 3 pick and plenty of teams salivating to get it. I would like to hear your perspective then.

4. Dallas Cowboys
2015 record:
4-11 (.529)
Top need: Quarterback
Other needs: Running back, defensive tackle, linebacker
Senior prospects at positional needs: QB: Connor Cook (Michigan State), Jacoby Brissett (North Carolina State), Trevone Boykin (TCU), Cody Kessler (USC); RB: Devontae Booker (Utah), Josh Ferguson (Illinois), Aaron Green (TCU); DT: Sheldon Day (Notre Dame), Jarran Reed (Alabama), Adolphus Washington (Ohio State); LB: Jordan Jenkins (Georgia), Reggie Ragland (Alabama), Terrance Smith (Florida State).
Analysis: The Cowboys' offensive line is built for a rushing attack, so the Cowboys might want to go find a bell cow at that spot like they had with DeMarco Murray. Tony Romo's season-ending injury makes finding his heir apparent a much higher priority than it was when the Cowboys entered the season. Dallas did a nice job of building in the trenches on the offensive side of the ball and now they need to turn their attention to the defensive side -- specifically at defensive tackle.

We could get as high as 2 this weekend and as low as 8.

Herm is barely hanging on to that gig.... lol

You don't always play to win the game. Sometime, losing is winning and this upcoming game is a perfect example. I hate tanking. I hate the thought of ever considering tanking over the course of several weeks. It rubs me wrong and goes completely against my own ideals. That said, when compartmentalized into the span of one game and considering the possibilities, I am not going all out to try to win this one last game. Hell will freeze over before I try to win this game and slot myself lower in the draft with two star prospect QBs sitting right there.

Save your time, I am just playing around with these posts.

I think this team will find a way to lose regardless.

Do not (I repeat) do not go out on Sunday and make any attempts to beat the Skins. The ability to trade down for value from a top 3 pick is so much more appealing than #7 or 8... We should be resting anyone of value that does not require further evaluation. Guys like Showers should be dressed and ready to take a half of football. This should be treated very much like a preseason game. What do we have to gain here against the Skins? ZILCH!

We already beat the Skins this year when it mattered. Winning this game would suck and I have no doubt Jerry would throw up a little in his throat if, at the final bell, the Cowboys are ahead of the Skins. I would even venture to say some of you will too. Let the backups battle it out for early slotting next year. This isn't tanking 101 here... This is one game with one outcome that has already been determined.

For once coaches, go with a winning strategy.

The Plano High School team has made it known they can play, but would demand a hot and cold buffet and face time with the cheerleaders.
The Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD high schools also are willing to cancel their exhibition games in the Sudetenland to play as replacements in Sunday's game, but they require not only a hot and cold buffet but adulation and reading books they don't have access to at C-FBISD.

Nobody in the Cowboys team will try to lose this game. They are professionals who are paid to win every single game, and going into the offseason with a win feels much better than losing for draft positioning.
Besides, there really isn't much difference between #5 or #8, in the previous drafts there hasn't been any extreme advantage in picking #4,5 versus picking #7,8.

I say we go out there an beat the crap out of the Commanders and sweep the season series, any other mentality or losing preference deserves no place in a Cowboys locker room.

A moral victory, right mate?

Everyone on the team should pull a Peters from Philly and just pull themselves to get in line with the better draft pick.

This is pathetic. Cheering for a lost to the Washington Commanders? What is wrong with you guys, are y'all even fans at all.

If we lose we lose but I will never cheer to lose. I hope we destroy Washington. Don't rest starters and I hope Washington plays their starters.

YOU LIKE THAT

I will deal with that in May or whenever the draft is. Right now, my team is playing on Sunday and I am pulling for them to win. Why is that wrong?

I never said it was wrong. I'm just amazed by it. It's all personal perspective and my perspective is to be sitting pretty Sunday afternoon around 3:30pm CST with at least a top 4 pick wrapped up and some nice thoughts of a replacement QB on the horizon.

I'm pulling for a great game during which I have the chance to evaluate some guys well ahead of training camp next year. The same great game that nets a top 4 pick when the final bell sounds.

I think some of us are so perpetually used to drafting 15th-17th (AKA 8-8 mediocrity) that we fail to realize the opportunity which will present itself in May if we don't screw things up.

And I am amazed that any one that is a fan of a team would hope they would lose a game, for any reason. Goes against everything that is good about sports. But to each their own I guess.

I just don't get the mindset. I can not and I will never hope for, root for, or like any loss by my team regardless of the circumstances. I would be ashamed of any player that doesn't give 100 % trying to win every game. I played this game for 14 years and coaches a few more and I have to much respect and love for the game not to give it all I have every chance i had. I think it's a disgrace how many fans want to lose. I really do. It makes me sad and is way more disappointing to me than this season has been.
Good for you, I wish I had a "great fan" trophy to give you. If you haven't noticed, this last game does NOTHING, I REPEAT, NOTHING FOR US. Tell me exactly what we will gain from winning this pitiful game?

You care about the right now, well, the right now is US GOING HOME. But if you care about the future of this franchise, then losing this game could be the difference between a future star QB, or a nice tackle which will do NOTHING to help us in the future. But by all means, enjoy your moral victory Sunday and I hope you're a happy fan when we go another decade without a trophy because some loyal fan wanted to beat the freaking deadskins.

You're such an inspiration. Many can only hope to think as incredibly cerebral as you do one day before they expire.

Basically, the draft position means more than the win for some. For some, it meant more than multiple wins and more than a potential playoff spot at one point. I can understand it, I guess.

I never feel that way, though. I like to see the team always try to win, regardless of circumstances. We'll deal with the draft when we get to the draft. At that point, obviously more ammo is better than less ammo, but I'm not in favor of throwing even meaningless games because of it. I'd rather get the wins and then just hope the players we're targeting slide or that the players we get instead turn out to be better than the guys we would have targeted, otherwise (and neither of those things is all that far-fetched).

Sure, it's lower probability, but since we'll never know for sure if they did or did not actually get the guys they really wanted, I can root for my team to beat the Commanders and still enjoy the good draft position and the players we add, regardless.

What would Cowboys world have been in 89 if we won 4 or 5 games. There would be no Aikman, there would be no 3 super bowls. Sometimes, you have to take one for the team in order to win it all down the road. Not saying we will win it all, but you don't get to draft this low very often, have a chance at a top QB, I don't care what fans call me, we need to lose this game.

Why get on a fellow-fan just for not wanting his team to lose under any circumstances, bleu? Is that really all that hard to comprehend? I would think it's pretty easy to see where he's coming from.

I see where he's coming from but he apparently has no idea where I'm coming from. I want a QB. We should have had one last year (or a bell cow RB to put that positional need to rest). The continued inability to pull various triggers is a huge source of frustration. That said, I hope it's a good game on Sunday.

The only thing that matters to me right now is draft position. Screw the Skins. We already beat them when it meant something. While the draft is not a science by any means, many many top tier QBs have been drafted top 3 or 4 and gone to lead their franchises to even greater heights (as expected).
