It would appear we have legit starters & legit depth at safety. It only took how many years??

Cavanaugh said they were giving him reps as a corner as well. "Sounds" like they are intrigued by him and are trying to see if maybe he could be a S\CB roster spot which would potentially free up a spot elsewhere.

None of that suggest rising star to me. More like maybe his stock is rising enough to get a roster spot.

Only concerned with now. I don't cry over spilled milk, clean it up and pour another glass. lol Right now we look pretty good at safety and depth as you said, that is what I care about.

2nd year Safety, Israel Mukuamu (6'4", 220 lbs, 4.46 40 time), shined during dual practices this week between the Cowboys and Chargers.

Mukuamu makes INT on Herbert pass during 1-on-1 drills.

If Mukuamu keeps shining, does he make the 53 player roster?

it kinda amazes me that they can jabber on over 30 minutes about insignificant stuff like training camp plays.

As a more natural CB imo, I've always thought Mukuamu would be best used as a TE stopper a la Byron Jones early in his career. I still like Mukuamu as a CB prospect too, moreso, than Saftey but I trust DQ and crew know what their doing.
My Safety lineup:

SS Kearse
FS Hooker
SS Bell
FS Coyle

I see Mukuamu as a hybrid CB/S, and Ole Dono getting traded as he's in the last year of his contract.

Very good question. The starters at both Safety positions are Jayron Kearse and Malik Hooker. Then you've got Donovan Wilson, Israel Mukuamu, Marquese Bell, Juanyeh Thomas and Tyler Coyle. That's a total of 7 Safeties. It will probably come down to whether the Cowboys keep 4, 5 or 6 Safeties?

I believe the Cowboys will keep 5 Safeties: Kearse, Hooker, Wilson, Mukuamu and Bell.
Sounds right but they likely play 3 safeties A LOT. Maybe even as a base.
They really like the bigger safety in this scheme.

This take seems really unlikely.
Donovan Wilson is a pseudo starter. He started 10 of the 14 games he was available for last year.
Dallas isn't going to dump him when they can play him in heavy rotation then receive draft pick comp when he leaves.

Muku and Ball are both in that big safety with man cover skill mold.
They will back up Kearse and Wilson.
In this scheme they love those guys and play them in place of a LB.
They've both been effective in camp because its a great skillset to have versus modern offenses.

Dallas is keeping 5 or 6 safeties.
Fans haven't caught on to how the defense lays out.

Coyle will hit you and to me is a perfect PS guy for a year.

You may be right, but I'ma keep it hot.
Wilson is a often injured, undersized box SS who is a liability in coverage. Also, Dono won't get much on the FA market to get Dallas much more than a 6th rounder.
