Davis had absolutely no shot on Saturday. No holes, no daylight. No chance. No back does anything in that situation. Score it incomplete.

We were playing mediocre o-line backups against good first stringers. (And Jags have good front 7)
Davis’ issue is he’s a mediocre athletes that is below average in pass protection and plays on less of the ST packages than Dowdle. If he’s gonna win that spot he’s got to wow and be clearly better, otherwise he’s destined for the practice squad until injury strikes.

Go get Leonard Fournette. Will run through trash hard. Can catch (not great) but he can catch. Will get his nose dirty doing things. Best option out there imo
he is even slower than Zeke. his time has long gone. he is just a name that never really was

Do we have an issue with RB2?

-Ronald Jones is hurt, has a heart condition, and is suspended for the first two games of the season.
-Rico seems to always be hurt every year (Just a matter of time), and fumbled in his first preseason game this year.
-Davis, who many thought could take the lead 2 role was underwhelming and played poorly.
-Deuce has been exciting to watch but I'm not sure he is ready for the 2 spot quite yet.

Does Dallas go grab a free agent RB, say Hunt? or do we roll with who we got?
NO, don't care about Rojo we can add a back like him anytime now or in season, dime a dozen..

Rico is not hurt Vaughn was great Malik will get his shoit this week bet they flip the cary load to test Maliok.

again, NO add in Hunter to boot as FB/ power back.

im standing pat with TP with a mix of 2 of those guys active each week, we are fine..

Now can we stop overreacting.

Deuce is ready for the #2 spot if not the 1 if TP needs more time. The dude is legit. He has all the tape in the world to prove it
it's understandable that fans are overreacting because they're used to the one main back they're not used to running back by committee and they don't realize a lot of these guys are going to make the team there's going to be three or four of them active weekly some are just going to play special teams and they're going to mix them in with Tony Pollard and we're going to be more than fine our running back room right now is every bit as strong as the last 4 teams brought to the last 2 Super Bowls...that's a fact none of them had any special payers at RB..

Even w/o Jones hurt, they should have brought in someone to compete and insure against his failure or injury all along.

There's neither pedigree nor proven production behind Jones. Rico and Davis should have been guys competing for a roster spot, or perhaps *both* betting axed if Jones and Other RB are just better.

Malik as Special Teams + Emergency Active RB is at least a viable gameday active role. And we do have his rights for another year. Rico as an emergency guy we bring off the PS in case a RB is out a full game is another viable role.

But a suspended, hurt, and unimpressive Jones is just not a viable #2. We should have brought in another RB in hopes he can be replaced.

The trouble with Deuce is he's an *extra*. He doesn't fulfill that #2. All sorts of wonders about him, but really, is he supposed to be running the short yardage plays? I don't think that's Pollard.

Malik? I guess but he's just a warm disposable body at short yardage. Are we willing to write off that role in the game, or use a roster spot in Rico to fill it? I hope not. Pretty big and important role. Short yardage runs are big plays.
Dude you can bring in a back like Ronald Jones now, later, middle of the season, right before the playoffs,

them dudes are a dime a dozen and anyone already pulling the rip cord and overreacting to our running back room needs to go look at the last two Super Bowls those four teams who were their running backs they weren't special. They were just either solid backs or running back by committee but none had a blue chip big time back and what we have now is pretty much what they have or better do you add Tony Pollard in there is the guy getting 15 to 18 carries a game and then you mix in the rest of what we have on the roster,

I'm not worried one bit , now something becomes an issue again you can add it back like Ronald Jones or similar anytime you want they are a dime a dozen.

And also remember our management a lot of times likes to wait till the week leading up to the regular season or into the second week of the season when teams are cutting and moving players that are not available right now..

they might have a list and they're waiting they've been doing this now for a few years and we rebuilt the safety position, the defensive tackle position, and the tight end position pretty quickly.

And like I said I like what's going on with the running back room but if they need to make a change it is one of the easiest positions to go find a guy off the street to produce immediately....

what we need to do is make sure the offensive line is ready to go, the blocking schemes are ready to go, and hopefully they can Integrate a fullback and I think we'll be fine.

RB1 is ok with Tony. Not sure how many carries that leg of his will take.

RB2 - RB5 are all scrubs and draft picks. None are close to elite.

RJones is probably the best of the lost.

Yes we do. We lack the thunder to our lightning. Unless Davis can be that guy we don't have one.

Jones sucks, is injured and has legal issues, IMO he will be cut.
Rico can't pound inside full time, nor can he block and he fumbles too much.
Deuce is a gimmick weapon that can be a nice toy to slash teams with, but he can't short yardage.
Davis nedes to step up and fill hat role or we will need to add someone who can.
Who is available that can be that pounder? Fournette, Cook, Ingram, Zeke? Who else?
*edit they just signed elsewhere

RB #2? Dallas has a potential issue with RB #1 seeing as how Pollard has never been a full-time RB and is coming off a bad lower leg injury.

So 1 pre-season game is all the tape in the world that a late-round rookie is ready to be the #1 RB? Damn man, some people are too fanatical.

Tape from three years in college. Against big time schools. 133 against Bama in his final game. 130 against TCU. 147 against LSU. I’m not even a KState fan but I know he’s special.

Dallas doesn't have an issue at RB.
Could it be better? Of course. But they are going the route of RBBC, which plenty of teams have jumped ship to.
We don't have that do it all bellcow any more but the team can get by with rotating RBs in depending on situation.

College is not the same as the NFL (ex. Johnny Manziel)

Here's your roster, Pollard, Davis, Vaughn

Practice squad - Dowdle, Leupke
before you finalize your list you might wanna give it two more preseason games because the coaches typically do this they'll switch now to Malik Davis getting the start instead of Rico daldo and then they'll work the snap counts differently in each game just to see if things change then they'll set thee depth chart. Most of us think preseason games are worthless especially for veterans and that's true but This is why we need them we need to work out certain position groups and the run game depth chart will be made out after the last preseason game...

I think doubtful is a better inside runner and since we're missing that you can't have two of our biggest backs on the practice squad. I really think right now it's Pollard, Dowdle, and Vaughn but that can change and you're right we can probably get rid of hunter on the practice squad and just bring him up for 40% of the games we plan on using a full back more...
The other scenario could be the week leading up to the game they don't like Malik or dodo and they do bring a guy off the street.

I look at it like this Leupke needs to play alot more. Vaughn showed enough.
Davis and Dowdle need to play more aswell. Ronald Jones if he can play play but he gone.

I'd look for a trade or a release for a RB replacement.
I dont think Rico or Malik should be on this roster.
I need to see Leupke asap.
Nice rundown. Agree.
