Do we have more confidence going to Houston now?

Garrett's pattern is 8-8 , with a few exceptions .

The lame vanilla playbook Zeke needs to overcome is not helping .

Plus i read on here zeke is hurting .... hmm ...

I think a number of older fans in Texas may be like me. I'm old enough that I grew up in Texas as a football fan when Dallas was new to the NFL and the Oilers/Texans didn't exist yet...nor did the Texas Rangers...hence my Cowboys/Astros fandom) I was born in north Texas (Denton), but spent my teen years in the Houston/Galveston area. Naturally, my first (and only) team was the Cowboys even though I spent my formative years in Houston.
I’m also an Astro fan as Rangers came in later. But Oilers came in AFL same time as Cowboys did NFL.

Yes, but when the Cowboys came into the league, I lived near Dallas, so my fandom (even though I was very young) was naturally with Dallas. Honestly, I don't think I even knew Houston existed as a team, then. On top of that, the AFL (at least in my young mind) was kind of like a semi-pro league back then. I don't know that many took the AFL seriously until Joe Namath got them a championship.
BTW, GO 'STROS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand but growing up in Dallas we had 2 teams with Dallas Texans who won AFL championship before they moved to KC. And the Oilers won one too.

I’d agree Namath validated the AFL but their games were being broadcast too. Hard to imagine not knowing about them? Maybe you were too young?

Anyhow. Appreciate and enjoyed your comments and nice to see another local oldtimer here on this site. Love your Avatar !!

Based on what I've seen from both teams, I wouldn't touch this one.

The one thing that leans me in the DAL direction is that Watson holds the ball the longest among all the starting QB's. The one thing that doesn't was watching Watt, Clowney, Hopkins and Fuller starting to come alive.

HOU does not look like a good team but neither does DAL. This will be one about which one doesn't **** up the most.
True but the Colts have one of the worst O lines in the game, I don’t think Clowney will have nearly as much success. Watt may but it’s taken him awhile to get going as well.

Right now, Houston is 22nd in total defense which is the worst we’ve played. I knkw their offense is ranked higher but we’ll also be the best defense they’ve faced. I know stats aren’t everything but statistically we’re quite a bit better. Granted, playing Detroit helped pad our stats a good bit which may be slightly misleading.

I was born in '53, so I was only 7 when the Cowboys came to be. I remember my dad coming home with a Cowboys bumper sticker that he got from a gas station (the year the Cowboys became the Cowboys). That is my first memory of caring at all about anything sports-related. From that moment, I was a Cowboys fan (very uninformed, mind you, but a fan nonetheless). It was probably a year or two later that I began learning about the AFL vs NFL. I don't recall very many other games being on TV during that era...could have been and maybe I just didn't care...not sure.

Nope, not after the Seattle loss. That was ********. We need to win as many, if not all of the conference and division games. Otherwise, what's the point?

Confidence level has risen every so slightly but still guarded. We need to win @ Houston big time because the upcoming stretch is gonna be tough.

I'm reasonably confident, considering we beat Detroit. I'd be far less confident if that weren't the case.

All things considered, I'm thinking we should beat Houston although their pass rush gives me pause.

Nevertheless, I checked with Google a while ago and it seems they're favoring Houston by 3.5 points.
Can you provide me with a confidence percentage sir.

That's the tricky part of stats, doesn't take into consideration under what circumstances those numbers were generated.

But, DET came in as the worst run D and they pretty much lived down to that.

one plus is Deshaun is not Stafford so he will not most like be throwing dimes to his receivers like Stafford was.
definitely not the passer but he does have elite receivers and it's a guarantee he's going to be a run threat
the defense better do a better job than they did vs Cam
he's also not afraid to take shots down the field

consider your starting safety might be Kavon and not Earl (Seattle was shredded and they still had Sherman)

We're going to get destroyed by the Jaguars by all intents and purposes we have no choice but to beat the Texans.

It's a must win. I better see some urgency out there too. No turning back now. Come up with a good game plan or kick rocks.

zero. this team is to up and down to have any solid confidence that they can go out and put two good games together.

Just like Seattle, Houston is desperate for a win. It will show that they want it worse than Dallas. 2-3 and onto the Jags.

No I don’t. Singular wins from a club that plays as bad as they do so often, doesn’t change my view on the overall. When they start stringing together sound fluid games then let’s talk. Knowing this team, they could easily give Zeke 16 carries, have discipline issues, and play like they did in weeks 1 and 3.

If Cowboys>Giants, and Giants>Texans, then Cowboys__?__Texans.......fill in the blank

Honestly, I see this game as a relatively easy win. I don't think the Texans have that great of a defense overall, which is why they have lost three. 27 points per game allowed. Deshaun has thrown an interception each game which was his m.o. at Clemson. This could be a game where the defense causes like 2-3 turnovers and the Cowboys blow them out.

Cowboys didn't look good in either road game so until they play well away from home confidence will be low.
