Dez is overrated and overpaid. He's good, but not great.

Good corners control him. That doesn't happen to Brown, Julio, etc.

Romo made him appear great with those back shoulders throws. Romo made a lot of multi-millionaires out of a lot of receivers.

Before the season I said the weakest group on this team was receivers.

I just hope Noah Brown can become that reliable alpha that we need.

1. Dez impacted the game. It wasn't for 100 yards and a score, but he still impacted the game.
2. Jenkins is probably a top 5 CB in this league.
3. Go back and watch the film. Dez beat him quite often - he can't throw the ball to himself.

Or, you can take the simpleton approach and read the box score and say he was taken out of the game.

On a somewhat related note.

Was watching a little of the Steelers game yesterday.

1. JJ. Wilcox is with the Steelers now and the browns made a play on the goal line. JJ. Wilcox came up and hit the guy and knocked himself off...on top of that he got a penalty, that was refused, for basically targeting and hitting with the helmet.

2. Antonio Brown caught a deep pass from Ben. He caught the ball went to the ground and as he was being tackled was rolled around and dropped the ball after rolling around. They reviewed it and said it was complete pass. The commentators tried to act like he dropped it as he was trying to get up. To me it looked like he was rolling as he was being tackled and the ball came loose enough to touch the ground and he pulled it back in.

I thought to myself...if that was Dez they would have called an incomplete pass...but what are you going to do.

The haters here are laughable. He outplayed Jenkins all game long and he was usually bracketed on every play. That opens up players like Witten, Beasley, EE and occasionally T-Will underneath. If some throws were executed in that game, he could have had something like 6 catches for over 100 yards and 2 TD's. But a player that catches 6 passes for over 100 yards and 2 TD's against one of the top pass defenses while being bracketed for most of the game isn't worthy of a #1 WR is the logic being used around here.

YR

Still not an elite WR, though. Julio Jones gets bracketed. Antonio Brown gets doubled; as does OBJ.

Only difference is that those WR get open play after play, despite that coverage.

I used to think lack of opportunity was the reason Dez wasn't as productive as the others. But that's not the case. He just doesn't have the separtion ability to be as effective as the elites.

Want to throw up a fade so he can outjump someone? Dez is your guy. But he's not nearly the same level as the best guys as a complete WR.

lol. we are 5 deep. How is it weak with Dez, TWill, Beasley, Swit (who will only be more involved as season goes on), and Butler?

We have speed in Beasley, Swit, Butler.

Beasley is a chain mover, Switzer looks like he will be in danger of injury on any given play and Butler has inconsistent hands. We need someone who can take the top off the defense and open things up for Dez a little bit--not sure we have that yet.

Yep, those slants were really really deep, lol

Reminds me of the old "30-yard slant" days

So you're telling us that Witten, Beasley and T-Will would have caught those passes?

Dez was open all game last night. He just didn't get the ball delivered to him.

He can't throw it to himself.

Anybody who doesn't think Dez is an elite WR really exposes their lack of understanding of the game.

So I guess Dak just chose to throw to ball to Dez on some of the only routes that Dez couldn't get open? Got it.

Somehow Dak is "accurate" when he throws to Beasley and witten and Williams but somehow he forgets how to be "accurate" when he throws to Dez

Yeah pretty much. You watched the game right? He missed him wide open like 3 times.

I picked them to win the SB with a 14-2 record, so saying they are the weakest group isn't a great negative. I like the others, I don't like Dez. The others are good in their roles.

I'm about to go look up Dez's game by game numbers from his best seasons...

Beasley is a slot reciever, who no one can cover. Switz is in danger of injury, what? Based on what. We haven't even used him at wr yet. Butler is our 5th wr once Swit gets settled in. Dak was missing wr's last night, he should have had around 350 yds passing.

2 catches for 43 yards.

1 pass interference to get them the TD.

One overthrow from Dak which would have been an easy TD.

Another interference not called where he would have had a TD.

Many Dez bashers, year after year says he has games where he does not have an effect and without these sides notes they would point to this game as well.....

I am not sure why you think Dez had a great game. He wasn't quite as invisible as he was last year against the Giants but he isn't performing like a top 5 paid receiver or even a true number 1 receiver on his own team.

Butler outplayed Dez yesterday. Beas outplayed Dez yesterday. It would be nice if Dez played up to his contact but that really seems to be wishful thinking.
