Do we sign Adrian Peterson next season? (assuming Murray is gone)

Well, he is signed with the Vikings until after the 2017 season, so they have to cut him first.

That is definitely happening. His remaining years on that contract are astronomical numbers that has no guaranteed money.

and if Peterson is asking for a lot? Rusty Harden was not cheap and Peterson on the downhill side is ot looking to rebuild his career he will be looking for a good payday and chances are his last big payday. IMO

If he is, he's not an option for Dallas. But my opinion is that will not be the case. Personally, I don't feel he's in a particularly good bargaining position considering everything that's happened.

If he so desires, Jerry Jones can use that to his advantage and either resign Murray more affordably or obtain a talent he could otherwise not afford to pay.

And, if both are out of our range, there are options like Lynch, Ingram, and Spiller likely to be available.

I prefer Murray.

He is younger. Hungrier. And doesn't have the questionable baggage Peterson brings.

Peterson is the example of a player who has been pampered because of his talent his entire life. Not saying this has anything to do with his spanking the child. Many of us grew up in a day when "go get me a switch" was not only a threat, but something you remembered mostly after that first time of getting your arse tanned.

Murray has had to work for everything in regard to his playing days since he has been second fiddle to Peterson. He is a character guy.

And frankly it just rankles me to no end this organization would cast him aside after paying the likes of Roy Williams (receiver), and T.O. (whiner). It may be old school, or that I am just old, but loyalty means something to guy who has been loyal to this franchise.

And I highly doubt there are three people on this site that adequately understand the cap enough to know if this franchise can afford both Dez and Murray and the other guys Dallas has to resign. Fuzzy wrote a pretty darn brilliant post once on the cap. And while he and I seldom see eye-to-eye, I have to say he rarely posts something based on emotions versus facts.

Just saying, this hand wringing may be for nothing.

But Peterson? No!

if he is free to sign then chances are it will be more than just Dallas looking at him. As for Lynch, Ingram and Spiller not sure they are willing to take less? I think Dallas will be able to work a deal with Murray We will see.

You can't help but be morbidly curious as to what sort of damage AP could do behind Dallas's still-improving O-Line.

I don't know about morbidly, but I agree with this. I'm a very big fan of Murray's and want him signed, but a part of me has wanted Peterson here since seeing him as a HS'er.

Strange how Peterson's and Murray's paths seem entwined. First at Oklahoma. Now maybe in Dallas.

No doubt, but considering his situation and his expressed desire to play in Texas, I think those are two factors that enhance his chances of signing here.

None are having as good a season as Murray is. If Murray continues his pace, he's the crown jewel of the running back market. How could these guys not cost less?

I think Peterson will look to whoever is willing to pay him, I don't think he goes cheap.

If Murray continues on his pace yes he will want to be paid as one of the top backs in the NFL because he will have earned it, he is still in the prime of his career but in meantime guys like Lynch are not going to be giving discounts.

Demarco Murray will not play in Dallas in 2015. No signs point to a deal being made for him. Too high a price tag. Too big a supply of other options at less cost.

Why would AP be cheaper than Murray?

AP would need da money and would settle for less than the magnificent Murray (this year). You see, AP half kids in all 50 states and he need the money for their raising and stuff.

This is all contingent on Minnesota cutting him. Lets see if that happens before putting a star on his helmet. With that being said, AP would be more likely to sign for a cap friendly deal then Murray. We are much closer to a Superbowl then Minnesota. This may intrigue him. This O-Line with AP behind it. Defenses would now have to gameplan against him more so then murray. You put Dez into the mix. Wow. Unless we managed to keep dez murray and sign AP. HAHAH Just kidding

I really do feel like AP wants to be in Dallas badly next year. I mean, he messed around with tampering just to let Jerry know that. He's refusing and missing some things that the NFL is requiring him to do to get reinstated. In my opinion, he's already got his heart set on Dallas and is kind of forcing Minnesota to release him in the off-season.

This is the homestretch of his career and I'm sure he wants to play for the team he grew up idolizing, and now a pretty good contender. In Dallas, he knows he wouldn't be relied on so heavily because of our weaponry. I'm sure he has been watching us licking his chops and fantasizing about running behind the stout o-line. Murray's good, but he isn't no AP. AP might really have a great chance of breaking Dickerson's record next year here. We would be a lot better with Peterson at the helm.

I would stick with DM. You know he not going to be a headache.

Wasn't so long ago when people thought Peterson was a model citizen. There's probably a dozen other recent players just like that - Ray Rice, Von Miller, Sam Hurd, etc.

DeMarco seems to have his head on straight, but I can't tell anymore. Splitting headaches can pop up when you least expect them.

I would rather have Murray than Peterson at this stage in their careers. Murray has just entered the prime of his career and is 3 full years younger than Peterson who will be 6 months shy of his 31st birthday by the start of the 2015 season. He'll miss 15 games this season and has over 2000 carries and over 10,000 yards of mileage on him. Anyone who follows football knows 30 is old for an RB most are pretty much done at that age. With his advancing age and missing almost the entire 2014 season coupled with the off the field issues he's gone through the Cowboys would be lucky to get 2 good years out of him. The last 3 games Peterson played he had 7 carries for 13 yards vs Baltimore in week 14 of the 2013 season. He obviously wasn't healthy in that game which caused him to miss the following week. He returned in week 16 vs Cleveland and rushed for only 45 yards. He didn't play in the season finale that year.

In the only game he played this season he had 21 carries for only 75 yards vs St Louis. Peterson is in decline no telling where he'll be next year. All the Cowboys would be getting is what's left of him. If Murray keeps having the season he's having and avoids a significant injury the Cowboys need to get him resigned. He's been the teams MVP this season and possibly the league MVP. He's the main reason the Cowboys are in the position they're in. If the Cowboys let Murray walk and he picks up where he left off in Dallas somewhere else and Peterson looks like he did in the final 3 games he played as his body continues to break down there will be a lot of unhappy Cowboy fans.

all of you who half said Ap is a done deal here if Murray go then think of this:
That phone call between AP and Jerra. Surely, someone will rule that was tampering. And no, there is no statue of limitations with liberties on tampering.

I prefer Murray. It make no sense to half developed him all these years and then let him go as soon as he start acting all like Jim Brown.
Yes, Murray will not come cheap. yet, murray this year half contributed way more than Dez and no one is dogging dez for wanting more monies than Xi Jinping's spoiled son.
