I think Peterson will look to whoever is willing to pay him, I don't think he goes cheap.

He'll take the best overall offer. But money won't be his sole factor unless a team blows everyone else's offer out of the water.

If Murray continues on his pace yes he will want to be paid as one of the top backs in the NFL because he will have earned it, he is still in the prime of his career but in meantime guys like Lynch are not going to be giving discounts.

They'll all be cheaper than the asking price of the league's leading rusher.

so we should settle for less? Murray is playing outstanding ball and hopefully Dallas rewards outstanding play and not go shipping off top players.

Why would AP be cheaper than Murray?

He'll be pushing 31 by the end of the 2015 season and he's going to come with some baggage due to his legal issues. Murray is in the prime of his career and is having an MVP season. Can't see anyone breaking the bank on a 30 year old RB who's coming off serious legal problems and whose best years are behind him.

We should get the most bang for the buck. There's a salary cap for everybody and only so much money to go around, no matter how much of it Jerry has.

If Demarco Murray is looking for huge money, let him walk and let another team make the mistake of paying him in a plummeting running back market.

Some people want to think that things will somehow be equal between Murray and Peterson's asking price - they won't.

If they were, sure you keep Murray.

But same are talking about the league's leading rusher in the prime of his career and trying to equate it to a player 2-3 years older trying to get back into the league.

Nice to see some folks get it.

yes there is and I don't waste it on a RB on the downhill side. I think Peterson better days are behind him and Murray is in front of him. That would really suck getting rid of a top player to go after a guy on the downhill side. I do think there is a bottom line with Murray that I do not want to see Dallas pay on the other hand I think he should be paid as a top 5 RB.

I think people are playing with memory lane instead of the fact he will be in his 30's and just as Emmitt slowed down so will Peterson who has had his fair share of injuries.

Whoever said 'get rid of' Murray? Where is that quoted from?

So Romo's getting Top 10 QB money, Dez gets Top 3, right? and then Murray gets Top 5?

I can't think of any other team able to do this plus pay Top 5 cornerback money and Top 5 Left tackle money on top of it.

And then of course we want to keep Melton, McClain, Free, Leary. It can't be done.

I think people are playing with memory lane instead of the fact he will be in his 30's and just as Emmitt slowed down so will Peterson who has had his fair share of injuries.

He very well could, no guarantees in life. Just like there are no guarantees Murray ever finishes a full 16-game season, including this one.

The only thing about that is he can't be reinstated until Around mid April and Free Agency begins in March. So do you wait around and hope you can get him then? I absolutely think Dallas would be his first choice if he's released by Minnesota and Murray goes to the highest bidder when free agency begins.

I frankly think that's to our advantage. I believe Dallas will try to re-sign Murray, but Murray might want too much to be retained. This would give him time to go see if he can find a better offer, then if he chooses to leave, Dallas would have a potential backup plan.

Demarco Murray will not play in Dallas in 2015. No signs point to a deal being made for him. Too high a price tag. Too big a supply of other options at less cost.

Please cite your empirical source for the bolded and sized in your initial comment.

Not your opinion. But an inside source which debunks any notion he will be signed. Then the market price of RBs this next off-season and a list of ones who will do what he is doing for a lesser price.

Thanks you in advance for your response.

I suspect Carr will take a cut or will be released. I think Romo and Smith contracts will be redone to open up more cap space.

Not being mean to the OP here but whatever happens with AP (he signs here or not) I hope it happens quickly as I hate the idea of seeing hundreds of these threads about the possibility or lack of possibility of dallas signing AP.

For me personally I wish someone else would sign him so we could be done with it but I doubt that happens and these things will linger.

I prefer Murray as well but I prefer Peterson and a cheap contract more.

Peterson would be incredible in Dallas. Especially after getting a year off.

Have you been away for several months?

meaning?????....All these people that think Murray is going to break the bank are going to be seriously surpirsed. Despite the great season he is having he play a position that is depensiable. He we get a nice contract but it wont be massive as some seem to think.

Meaning one's stock has never been higher while the other's has never been lower. We can delve further into the facts surrounding both if you would like.

All these people that think Murray is going to break the bank are going to be seriously surpirsed. Despite the great season he is having he play a position that is depensiable. He we get a nice contract but it wont be massive as some seem to think.

It will be larger than every one of the other names mentioned here.

And when was the last time the NFL's leading became an unrestricted free agent?

I won't disagree that the running back market is lowering, but this is the guy doing the best job of it in the league right now, in the prime of his career. If all things continue, Murray will command far more money than anyone else.

Seriously? Do you not read the news?
And I guess you know that he would be cheaper? I honestly have no idea. A part of me says that given all the circumstances that he would be cheaper than Murray. Another part of me says that I shouldn't assume anything when it comes to today's professional athletes and their agents and what they perceive their worth to be. But to answer your question, yes, on occasion, I do read the news.

I know whose stock is at an all-time high and whose is at an all-time low.

And I think you do too.

This is all contingent on Minnesota cutting him. Lets see if that happens before putting a star on his helmet. With that being said, AP would be more likely to sign for a cap friendly deal then Murray. We are much closer to a Superbowl then Minnesota. This may intrigue him. This O-Line with AP behind it. Defenses would now have to gameplan against him more so then murray. You put Dez into the mix. Wow. Unless we managed to keep dez murray and sign AP. HAHAH Just kidding

His salary for 2015 is scheduled to be $12,750,000. My guess is that he does get cut.
